My fasting blood sugar now is 75 to 80 and before bed around 90 to 100 due to exercising everyday and taking the medication and strict diet. I will have blood work in April and hopefully my doctor will let me stay off the med for good.

You should ideally avoid alcohol completely if you are on metformin. This is because it can precipitate acidosis and increase your blood sugar levels. I was recently told I needed to take invokana mixed with metformin and insulin. I had not been taking my metformin like I should so my readings were a bit high. But now that I'm regularly taking my meds, I'd like to know who is also and what keeps them within range. Avg bs 170s.

is,Do I start the meds and do the diet or do I just do the diet and see what my stats are? All these meds have scary side effects and say no drinking alcohol but the HCG drops have 20%.alcohol. If I lose the weight will my stats change? Has anyone gotten off diabetes meds on this diet? I'm going crazy!!! Any input is greatly appreciated.

HI I have PCOS but lost 6 kilos and actaully fell pregnant with out the metformin but I didnt know i was already pregnant and started taking it my doc told me to stay on it for 16 weeks and so i did and i did have a bit of diarrhea but it seemed to just go away and yes i found if i ate to much sugar it was worse.

Have some people gotten off diabetic meds? I eat locarbing, clean eating, no sweets, no alcohol and no processed foods.

hi, i am type 2 diabetes recently been diagnosed. i am on metformin 500mg one daily. i am currently feeling poorly and very confused. i'm almost sure it's a side effect from the metformin. i feel sickly, stomach's bad. and very weak and shakey. i've been like this for at least a week now. can you help me sort this problem out. is there a alternate tablet instead of the current one i'm taking or will i have to keep taking it and hope the side effects subside?

It is PCOS that causes skin tags! I am sorry to hear that you are having this problem but it is just one of those beautiful side effects of PCOS. I just read a little bit and you could freeze them off or cut off the blood supply with a string (like sewing string). You can freeze them off just like warts. I hope this helps!

I have psco my dr put me on metformin I have been taking it for a long time.. Its helps with my psco it also helps me get preg.. When I get preg my dr takes me off the metformin..I have had 2 mc in a row one at 9wks and the second one 18wks.. I just wondering if anyone has stayed on metformin when they were preg.. I was on web sites about metformin & psco and they r saying that people with psco have a higher risk of mc...

Before going to bed my blood sugar is about 110 whether I drink alcohol or not. But my fasting glucose is between 140 and 150 if I drink alcohol and it is from 115 to 125 if I don't consume any alcohol the previous night. In summary the dawn phenomenon is exasperated by alcohol. But every thing I am reading is against this. I'm wondering if any one has any logical explanation for this.

I have been on Synthyroid since may but now I was recently prescribe Metformin. I forgot to ask if it safe to take Metformin with Synthyroid at the same time. Does anyone if it would be ok?

I too have PCOS and my doc just put me on Metformin to help me Ov I was on clomid for 6 months and only Ov once the whole time now he took me off the clomid and just put me on Metformin and told me that it will help with my Ov I am not insulin resistance but he says it will help me to Ov. I am not over weight and I am over all healthy thank god. I hope it helps you and I both to Ov.

I have PCOS too and I am on metformin. It didn't work for me though. I ovulated only with injectibles. But my friend(very lucky) she got pregnant on metformin and her dd is 13 months old.

Yes Metformin can cause weight loss, I lost about 25 needed lbs real quick with a low carb, nothing white diet. I have tried not very successfully before metformin and did not lose the weight. My weight loss has slowed down since I got over the intial scare of being diagnosed with type 11 diabetes. and learn more of what I can eat and what I should not. My best to you mom...

I gave myself a 6 month break from the pill, and only stayed on metformin...and had 5 normal periods, but went back on the pill in Jan 2010 because my period was 10 days late. Did I ovulate during those times? I'm not really sure...I don't track it, but I can remember feeling some twinges around that time and a change in CM...so who knows. I've never missed a period for as long as I could remember (well except last month).

No, the rate decrease if your taking metformin. I also have PCOS and I had a miscarriage in October..every since then I haven't had a period or ovulate on my own so my doctor put me on provera, metformin, and letrozole(femara) to get pregnant but the metformin alone will help you NOT to have a miscarriage...good luck to you sweetie. I think you should ask your doctor about taking metformin, it corrects PCOS also...

Also on fertility medicine Femara and thyroid medicine, typing to get pregnant. I need some fruit to take Metformin. Just Metformin is making me more nauseous and discouraging. So I eat one date fruit with every Metformin i,e just after swallowing Metformin. Is this okay?. Also I eat grapes now whenever I feel like need more energy to move around. Is that good? I lost my apetite after started Metformin. So trying to be more on fruits.
