Common Questions and Answers about Metaxalone addictive

skelaxin

Avatar m tn X-ray revealed nothing, and I have been through chiropractic and physical therapy with marginal relief at best ( ~ 24 hours.) medications used include metaxalone, valium and ibuprofen. stiffness has remained constant, w/ a reduced ROM when flexing my neck laterally. I also occasionally experience shooting pain up the left side of my neck when i rotate my head in that direction. Neck remains inflamed and "cracks" often.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed this for extreme violent muscle spasms. Dr said non narcotic non addictive. Well my experience with Dr and Percocet i no longer believe in their opinion. So experts can u give me truth. Thanks so much.
477659 tn?1207939070 Hi everyone this is my first post here, kinda nervous. Thing is I found this community while looking up information about my fentynal patch. I just got the script and don't think its working. I had lumbar spinal fussion a week ago and the surgeon put me on 25mcg at discharge from the hospital. This was only done because of the reaction from me when he said he was sending me home on percocet. See I have suffered from pain for so long that I have taken alot of narcs.
Avatar f tn I don't know about this one, but I've never heard of it being addictive. It's a concern about the alcohol if you're an alcoholic I think though. Not sure. I thought I heard a couple of years ago that they either reduced or got rid of the alcohol altogether. I hope I'm not mistaking it for something else. The biggest concern I'd have is if you're taking another med. that would have increased effects if the alcohol is still in it.
4522189 tn?1355849005 Hi, I'm new here and have a question about addictive personality. when i drink (3 or more x week) i drink only in the evening after 6 and i drink to sleep. i know it has the opposite effect. when i drink i smoke. also on pain meds in the day time, find Lyrica addictive, i actually crave Lyrica after I have had 2. an hr or so later i crave more, and more. I used to gamble was able to nip that quick. Since I don't have any disposable income, aside from food and beer.
558802 tn?1215865158 i have an addictive personality. i am inrecovery for alcohol. people keep telling me some of the greatest minds have addictive personalities.
Avatar f tn i just googled addictive personality and read alot about it. scary but it describes me to a T.it really answered some of my questions as to why/how i became addicted to pain pills. i have an appointment on monday with a phsychiatrist. cant wait for that. i am working on 3 weeks clean with one slip up last week. trying not to count that. i still feel like crap. not sure why. i thought i would be so much better by now. i dont want to get out of bed.
Avatar m tn i have seen a few people become dependent on this otc drug, but few and far between, 3 out of thousands, for someone with an addictive personality they can become addicted to motrin, physically and mentally, like they were taking 20 of them a day, addiction is cunning, i remmeber one time meeting a patient who was taking 100 of those white speedy pills you get at the gas station, it was a first for our facility but she was definantly addicted to those things, so i guess yes, its possible to beco
1249175 tn?1269549015 I agree, an addictive personality can even be genetic,a learned behavior or both. Cognitive behavioral therapy can really help to change the way you think and react to cravings, impulse behavior etc. The Smart Recovery site is based on this type of therapy and has helped me out a lot. One tool that helps me is 'stop thought'. If you catch yourself obsessing about something just tell yourself to stop.
1249175 tn?1269549015 Yes, there is such a thing as Addictive Personalities. Try looking into Anxiety Disorders too. Reading up on those changed my life. In particular, OCD. Now, everyone thinks about "Rain Man" when they mention OCD...but this has many forms and many degrees of severity. The only cure, in my opinion, is to fill your life with positive "addictions". Exercise, hobbies, creativity, music, writing, working, volunteering, etc.
Avatar m tn So I've been experiencing chronic leg pain for 3 years now, going from doctor to doctor and getting no diagnosis. 3 months ago under the belief that it may be muscle related I was prescribed qualaquin 324mg tablets and physical therapy, neither really helped much but I faithfully took the qualaquin every night before sleeping. Now recently I've finally been diagnosed with spinal stenosis and given neurontin to treat it.
Avatar n tn my boyfriend smokes a lot of marijuana and can't go a day without it. he says that marijuana isn't addictive and he's not addicted to it. i have done research and it says that marijuana is addictive and i've shown him my research, but he just won't listen to me. So i have two questions: 1. is marijuana addictive? and 2. what is the right way to approach my b/f about this?
1012810 tn?1260749658 does anyone know a different pill thats not as addictive as xanax?? my friend is affraid she is going to become addicted to them. i know there is one but i cant remember the name of it. anyone help?
897400 tn?1303329148 I posted a question about addictive relationships a few days ago because I felt I kind of identified with what I have learned about them. More reading has revealed to me that I am not strictly fitting that profile and that's good news, but.... I have been in a quandry the past few weeks over being involved in a criminal case against a former abuser. He is being sentenced for Domestic Violence against the woman he left me for.
Avatar m tn ve ran out of pills of course and my question is is catapres addictive, will I go through withdraw not having this medication. It's only been 12 hours and I already anxiety . 2063887 tn?1337829746 I was told the deep hip pain is caused by a deep spasm so close to the bone that you cannot see, but it is a spasm. Forget the technical name. Metaxalone was prescribed for me and it helps about 80% of the pain. I hope I answered your question, feel free to ping me if you have any more. I'm also in the MS community forum, and you can search Tysabri in the search field in that forum. We've had a ton of discussions on the drug. :) Hope you feel better soon!
Avatar m tn Neither Skelaxin (metaxalone) nor Celebrex (celecoxib) cause dependence. Your body will not crave either medication. You will not develop tolerance to either medication, nor will you suffer withdrawal symptoms in their absence. The usual dose of Skelaxin is 800mg every 6 to 8 hours (three or four times a day). Do not exceed the maximum daily dose, and don't mix Skelaxin with alcohol, barbiturates, or other CNS depressants.
Avatar m tn I don't think lamictal is addictive. I've been on many high and low doses over the last 10 yrs: never experienced side effects and never relieved any symptoms. "I am more manic and very rarely depressed when I'm not medicated." Lamictal is prescribed for people who lean more towards the depressive side than manic side and/or hypomania. Did you try lithium or depakote first? They are usually the first prescribed mood stabilizers for mania.
Avatar f tn This prompted me to ask my pharmacist if they were, in fact, addictive. I was told that technically they have recenty found out that yes, it was, however since they were not the kind of drug that causes drug seeking behavoir (in other words they do not get you high,) they do not fit the catagory under FDA standards for an addictive drug, even though they do cause severe withdrawal symptoms.
Avatar f tn Its highly addictive its not an option. If you are an addict you will be going from the frying pan into the fire .The WD is worse then with hydro. You have to taper off and there is a real risk of seizures it you abuse it . Stay away from it .Look threw the forum there is tons of people her that have been addicted to it.
Avatar m tn t say how much Tram you take daily, but to answer your question, yes, Tram is just as habit forming or addictive as any other opiate. It is a synthetic opiate and does give the euphoric feelings as well. That's how some wind up abusing it. Were you taking more than what was prescribed, or did you just run out and had to wait for your refill? That's usually when we find out if we have a problem or not. (Running out early).
4059843 tn?1541419296 This takes up most of my day whenever i am able to go on the computer. But the addictive part is that whenever i watch the romantic parts, i get this feeling in my stomache. Its like a sweet tickle. And i quite like the feeling. But i feel so ABNORMAL telling everyone this. But here comes the disgusting part (And goodness i feel so gross saying this), but you know that feeling where you hold pee/urine in?
Avatar f tn I know doc say thing aren't addictive when they very much are. So what better place to ask then people who have abused all sorts of drugs.
Avatar m tn COULD YOU SITE ONE STUDY THAT PROVES THC IS ADDICTIVE? IN MY PHYSCOPHARMACOLOGY CLASS THE RATS DID NOT GET ADDICTED TO IT LIKE ALCOHOL, NICOTINE, OPIATES...ECT...ECT...One can mix thc/Mar in brownies. It doesn't need to be smoked. Hemp also makes excellent paper, cloth, and a thousand other uses.
