my 7 yr old has been on the metadate CD for 2 yrs now and I am pleased with it. It is
a very good medicine. She had tried the adderall, but it didnt work for her. so she was

If it is metadate CD it is an Extended release capsules (Metadate CD). If it is metadate ER it is a Sustained release tablets. I really doubt if he is on the immediate release tablet as that would be a huge dose at his age.
Your doctor should have made you aware of what he is on - as this is confusing stuff. If he is having trouble sleeping at night I would try cutting back the dosage - as even in the CD or ER form, it is a fairly high dose for a 6 year old.

Talk to her docotor about trying another med such as Stratera (non-stimulant) or Metadate CD another type of stimulant. I have a friend with a boy who takes Metadate CD. They tried Concerta and it did not work for the school at all. He was very restless and hyper. At home he was fine at the end of the day. So, the way this boy's body metabolized the med was different and the benefit of the med was late in the afternoon. Metadate CD works better for this boy during school hours.

My daughter at age 7 was diagnosed with ADHA put on focline XR it works part of the time. Our mornings start off with yelling and telling me to get out. Then followed by threats at her two year old sister then followed by me ending up dressing her for school. We are late it seems almost every morning it doesn' t matter what time we get up. When we finally get to school and am almost happy to drop her off at school for someone else to tend to her.

He has also thrown away his home work and hiding and or destroys it. He has good behavior at home considering that I and his mother are going through a custody battle and she is very bitter.
I hlave a question, does metadate cd show up on drug screenss and if so what could cause a false negative.? I gave my son his metadate at 6:30am, and at 11am they said he tested negative for it.
I have a friend who's son (no, really) was taking Vyvanse. He experienced severe dry mouth, hand-wringing, decrease affect, and a very short fuse. Hope you get this resolved; I'm sure you feel miserable. I believe that my friend's son began taking Metadate with more success. Still not sure of any contraindications with Xanax, though.

I believe that you can, but I am not an expert. I know that you can cut the pills for Ritalin and Metadate but not Concerta. You might ask the pharmacy for the literature that comes with the medicine. Sometimes it states in the paperwork if you can cut the pill. Depending on your pharmacist, he wil tell you if it is fine for you to split the pills. Also, your son should not show withdrawl. Even if your son shows withdrawl problems, these should be temporary and they are better than tics.
I assume that you tried Ritalin (slow release), Anderall and Metadate CD. These medicines are slow release stimulants and help more with the focus issues of ADD. Usually, the doctor gives Stratera only after trying stimulants and assuming that these do not work. Why Prozac at such a young age? Why mix medicines? If you find an ADHD medicine that works, the ODD might also be eliminated. Keep it simple with only one medicine if you can.

this was in may 08, well last night, i book that i had on sunday came up missing, and she is emphatic that she didn;t ake it, but i know better.. what can i do. She has been taking metadate since Aug. and doing seemingly well, but I don't know what this type of behavior is called or what to even do about it.

Does anyone have any advice? We have tried many different medicines- concerta, metadate, all wioth severe side effects with my son, so do not want to keep trying defferent medicines. It is just confusing since he is not on any medicine now. . Thanks.
Strattera, Adderall XR, Vyvanse, and Daytrana are medications I have taken, my brother takes Concerta. Vyvanse and Adderall XR are the only meds I can take. I have a real sensitive stomach and immune system, and am allergic to a lot so I would think that you can handle most of these.
Let me clairify. Venlafaxine is the exact same active chemical that is in Effexor XR.
The difference is (and this is a huge difference when were talking Venlafaxine) that Effexor XR is an extended release formula. This is where the "XR" terminology comes from. Meaning Extended Release.
The Generic Venlafaxine has no Extended release properties to it such as Effexor XR.
I then took Effexor and later ther Effexor XR. Effexor XR allowed me to live a reasonably normal life raising a child and having a career. For at least 3 years my depression has slowly gotten progressively worse. My counselor and I believe it is time to add an additional medication, possibly welbutrin or change to a different antidepressant. Currently I take 300mg of effexor XR. This is the same level I have taken for the entire time I've used effexor. I would like input and advice.
I'm currently taking both Effexor XR (Venlafaxine XR) and Lithium Carbonate to treat co-morbid my mental illnesses.
I'm just wondering, for anyone taking Effexor XR to treat their Generalized Anxiety Disorder, how do you find it has helped you, in what ways do you think it is inefficient, and what sort of side effects or issues have you had with it?
