Menstrual cycle ovulation rhythm method

Common Questions and Answers about Menstrual cycle ovulation rhythm method

menstrual-cycle

Avatar m tn so for example usually day 16 for a 32 day cycle and day 14 for a 28 day cycle. My educated guess in your ovulation is most likely the 14th day, or possibly the 15th day since you have an extra day in your menstruation. Add to that the life of a sperm will be on average 3 days for a healthy sperm in the right environment inside a uterus to a maximum of 5 days for a super sperm. My educated prediction is that it is unlikely you will get pregnant.
Avatar f tn Hi Babbie05 First, when you are counting to determine your cycle and ovulation dates, you need to count day one from the first day of your period not the last day of it. If your cycle is typical (28 days) then you would typically ovulate on Cycle Day (CD) 14. This is where often your ovulation should begin. Ovulation can be anywhere from 12 to 36 hours.
Avatar f tn FAM is the "fertility awareness method". as opposed to the Rhythm method (28 day cycle and you ovulate around day 14). there's a pretty good book called "taking charge of your fertility" if you're interested. it's basically about being aware of your fertility/ovulation symptoms rather than just counting the days of your cycle (not every woman's is the same as the next). the website for the book is tycof.
Avatar f tn this “fertile window” comprises the five days before ovulation and the day of ovulation itself.1–3 Just as the day of ovulation varies from cycle to cycle so does the timing of the six fertile days. Reliable methods to predict ovulation are lacking, therefore predicting the fertile window is also unreliable. Clinical guidelines suggest the cycle days during which the fertile window is most likely to occur, but these guidelines are outdated.
Avatar f tn it sounds like the date with your friend matches a very possible ovulation. Counting from August 27 as Cycle Day 1, that would put your September 6th coital experience at day 11 of your cycle. The average woman ovulates +/- 2 days from Day 14. (As women age, we tend to ovulate earlier. I am now 42 and usually ovulate on day 11or 12--well did when I was 41..no ovulation now as I am preggo:) Sperm can stay alive for 72 hours. Conception from that experience is very plausible.
Avatar f tn Ah, the rhythm method. I used the rhythm method myself and it worked for six months. Then I had a late ovulation (symptoms of which I mistook for PMS, as it was when my period was due) despite a positive OPK two weeks prior and BAM. Now I'm 32 weeks pregnant with #2.
266539 tn?1281402152 You can get pregnant at any time during your cycle - the rhythm method is not effective at preventing pregnancy The fact you have always had a 28 day cycle does not mean will have an atypical cycle in the future.
Avatar m tn having sex before, or during ovulation, and or engaging in intercourse before, or just as your menstrual cycle begins, male ejacualtion on or near the vaginal area are all risks. You've previously mentioned that you know, and understand your body in a sense that when changes occur you are aware of them. My advice would be to seek the professional guidance of a primary care physician, and or Obgyn, who would can better answer any questions about the concerns you're experiencing.
Avatar f tn It usually occurs regularly, around day 14 of a 28-day menstrual cycle. Intercourse just after your menstrual cycle with withdrawal method and taking post coital pills after that will not cause pregnancy. One of the reasons for causing such spotting is of an early upcoming period.
Avatar f tn we had been doing this for the past 1 yr.have been comfortable with it.my cycle length varies from 30 to35 days .my last menstrual period was on 21st dec.2008.we had intercourse on 19th day of the cycle. today is my 38th day.pregnancy test is negative.i had symptoms of ovulation on the15/16th day of the cycle.so now ,what to do.

Avatar f tn t recommend using a calendar or rhythm method as birth control. Not reliable at all. ANY time in your cycle that you have unprotected sex, you are risking pregnancy. Cycles can change at any given month without warning and you can ovulate off pattern. Too risky! So, there is NO safe time to not use true protection.
7826013 tn?1394702329 Fertile days can be calculated from the first day of menses which is taken as the first day of the menstrual cycle and counted till the next menses. You can also use the ovulation calendar or ovulation detection kits. However this is not a very safe method if you want to prevent a pregnancy. It is better to use some form of contraception. The answer is based on information provided. Exact advice is not possible without a proper examination and investigations.
Avatar f tn You might try the rhythm method (the ovulation tracking) with condoms and abstain during those times just in case it breaks.
Avatar n tn There are many things that can change a cycle late ovulation, usually caused by stress, change of diet, many things.your cycle is still in normal range.but yes i can see how it effects you trying to concieve.have you tried vitamin B6 this is good for getting your cycle on track,as for trying for 6 months with no success.that is a short time really.can take couples years to concieve.however since your cycle is a bit wacky,i would concentrate on getting that regular first.
Avatar f tn The chance of getting pregnant revolves around your ovulation cycle. You can look it up on an ovulation tracker. Put in when your periods are and it will tell you when your best/worst chance at getting pregnant is basically.
Avatar f tn remr you need to see Billy Connollys peice on the rhythm method its the catholic berth control, that states at the point of ejectulation withdraw, you must see it.
Avatar f tn We would really appreciate your expertise in trying to manipulate my ovulation/menstrual cycle with birth control pills, so that I am ovulating in and around the 15/7/11 or shortly thereafter.
Avatar f tn completely agreed with superhoc.. usually ovulation takes place on the 14th day of the cycle which means 10 days from the day u completed your menstrual cycle.. but body cycles are never perfect they might change anytime due to some reason or sometimes without a reason.. so your cannot trust the days calculation method either just like the pull out method.. the best way is to use condoms or birth control pill.. as for now i guess your chances are quite SLIM.. so u can ease down a little bit..
Avatar f tn There is a word for couples who practice the withdrawal (pull out) method of birth control - parents. Sorry, I don't mean to be a smartazz, but withdrawal is one of the least reliable birth control methods - right up there with the rhythm method. It's certainly possible that you might be pregnant, but it could be something else having nothing to do with your menstrual cycle.
443185 tn?1211671293 A woman with a regular menstrual cycle ovulates near the middle of her cycle. In a 28 day cycle this would be around day 14. The probability of becoming pregnant after unprotected intercourse is 15% 3 days before ovulation, 30% 1-2 days before ovulation, 12% the day of ovulation, and <1% 1-2 days after ovulation.
Avatar m tn It usually occurs regularly, around day 14 of a 28-day menstrual cycle. It is seen that pregnancy only occurs if intercourse occurs within the 6 days prior to and including ovulation. The best timing of intercourse in order to conceive is day 10, 12, 14 and 16 (in case of late ovulation) of a 28 day cycle. However to confirm the status of pregnancy, I suggest you to test for pregnancy by a highly sensitive pregnancy test 10 days post ovulation with a sensitive ( 20 - 25 mIU ) pregnancy test.
Avatar m tn Ovulation is the release of a single, mature egg from a follicle that developed in the ovary. It usually occurs regularly, around day 14 of a 28-day menstrual cycle. The best timing of intercourse in order to conceive is day 10, 12, 14 and 16 (in case of late ovulation) of a 28 day cycle. After intercourse, do not wash immediately and keep on lying for some time. You can also keep a pillow under your buttocks.
