Common Questions and Answers about Menstrual cycle ovulation birth control

menstrual-cycle

Avatar f tn It's also normal because liquids are naturally present that are secreted by the vaginal walls in the course of the day. Their purpose is to naturally cleanse the vagina. It doesn't necessarily mean you were aroused, it's just like your mouth naturally being moist.
Avatar f tn Emergency contraceptive pills can cause temporary disruption of the menstrual cycle. If they are taken before ovulation there can be progesterone withdrawal bleeding a few days after the pills are taken. If taken after ovulation, it may increase the length of the luteal phase and may delay menstruation by a few days. Delayed ovulation may result in a delayed menstruation. If a woman's menstrual period is delayed by two weeks or more, it is better to take up a pregnancy test.
Avatar f tn I stopped taking my birth control 14 months ago and didn't wait til my cycle was over, I still had half of my pills left. Two days after I stopped I had the biggest most horrible period of my life, and it had only been a week since I had been on my period.my question is, since I didn't wait until I was done with my pills did it wack my hormones out so much that its making it hard to conceive?

Avatar n tn I am a 31 year old woman who stopped using the birth control pill about six months ago (after being on it regularly for 8 years). My husband and I are trying to conceive & for the last three months my menstrual cycles have been approx. 35-37 days long. I've read that anything over 35 days can indicate problems with ovulation. Is this true? Given that I was on the pill for so long, does it take time for my cycle to normalize?
5033762 tn?1370785022 Hi! If you were my patient, I would advise you to stay off of birth control if you are actively trying to conceive. Give your body a few months to establish a regular cycle and then you can know better how to time intercourse with ovulation. Check out our menstrual cycle and ovulation trackers under the "Health Tools" tab this site. In the mean time, if you have intercourse approx every other day, you might get lucky enough to forget about all of the record keeping. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Hello everyone. I've been on birth control for 10 years and have been on the nuva ring for 7 of those years. I had my period march 7 until march 9 (which is very normal for me) what wasn't normal was that for the first time ever, had no pms or cramps. Now that its the 17th I'm experiencing weird symptoms that been going on for about 3 days. Started out me just being very over tired, now I feel sick all the time, and my breasts hurt now. Not sure why this is happening.
Avatar f tn can anyone tell me if they experience thyroid fluctuations throughout their menstrual cycles? i'm on 112 mcg of synthroid for hypothyroidism from silent thyroiditis. i'm 30 and have a 28 day cycle. it's like clockwork. there's no variation. i'm not on any birth control, so everything in that regard is my natural body hormones. from the first day of my last period to ovulation, i get worsening hypothyroid symptoms.
Avatar f tn We would really appreciate your expertise in trying to manipulate my ovulation/menstrual cycle with birth control pills, so that I am ovulating in and around the 15/7/11 or shortly thereafter.
Avatar f tn Depends on when she ovulates and how long her cycle is. The withdrawal method is not birth control and will not prevent pregnancy. Wait to see if you get your next cycle and take a pregnancy test with first morning urine if you do not. Unless you want a baby, you need to use condoms at all times.
Avatar f tn I know that doctors recommend to wait 2 years between each child and to take birth control pills to regulate the menstrual cycle, but we want our kids as close in age as possible and I just can't bring myself to take the pills. I feel like every day I take another is a day that I could be getting pregnant. I also understand that it can take a healthy couple up to 2 years to conceive, but we are growing impatient. Is there any other way to fix my problem (as opposed to birth control)?
Avatar m tn This is the birth control forum. If your girlfriend is not on any type of birth control, or you guys aren't using any protection...then you have posted this in the wrong forum. Anytime you have unprotected sex, you run the chances of getting pregnant. Just because a calendar says she is fertile for X amount of days...does not mean anything. Those calendars just give you the fact and when she SHOULD be fertile...but if you don't know if she ovulates normal or has any other issues...
Avatar f tn It usually occurs regularly, around day 14 of a 28-day menstrual cycle. Intercourse just after your menstrual cycle with withdrawal method and taking post coital pills after that will not cause pregnancy. One of the reasons for causing such spotting is of an early upcoming period.
2187580 tn?1338053554 You should have your period about once every 28 days (or slightly shorter/longer) lasting no longer than 7 days. You may need to look into taking some birth control pills to help regulate your period so something like this doesn't happen, but if this is the only time it has, your doctor may decide to have you track it.
Avatar f tn m even still alive after bleeding so much and the increased pains, I had my post op today and was put back on birth control to help prevent the functioning cysts from returning, however I forgot to mention to my dr the heavy bleeding. I have also had night sweats, hot flashes, and REALLY painful ovulation. With losing one ovary and tube I knew my hormones would be wacky, just wasn't expecting to this extent for only being 24 and still keeping one over.
Avatar f tn s was 29. But my question is about signs of ovulation in relation to pregnancy. I know that birth control thickens your cervical mucous and the lining of your uterus. I also know that in the first phase of your menstrual cycle, the cervical mucous is normally thicker and dry. At the time of ovulation, it is supposed to be very thin and almost watery-like. Then before menstruation, it gets thicker again.
Avatar f tn I have been on my period for about 3 months now. It was light at first, but for the past week, has been very heavy and will not stop. I feel tired all the time and am concerned that my iron levels may be low. I've been to the clinic for this before and put on birth control, but it never fixed the problem. Last time my period just went away on its own, but im not sure what i should do. Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn How long does it take to become pregnant after getting off birth control pills? An how long does birth control pills stay in your system?
Avatar f tn I've heard several different things about this but I was wandering if it's possible to get pregnant when.not.on birth control if your significant other doesn't wear protection or pull out while on the last days of your period?
937837 tn?1285350385 I thought after you got ones levels into range the menstrual cycle was supposed to normalize. I have had about 3 50 day cycles since I was diagnosed and started meds. Before my cycles were 37, 49, 34, stopped taking birth control in mid October. Was just wondering if anyone knows if this is normal for a women with hypothyroidism?
Avatar f tn Hi, ive been on birth control..orthotricyclen lo for about 3 months now...if i missed the pill two days in a row?...and i had unprotected sex...could i become pregnant?
Avatar f tn Hi there and welcome. Well, sometimes it takes a bit of time for a cycle to become regular after being on the pill a while. it's hard to immediately predict ovulation. So, begin tracking your cycle and when you feel you've had a normal couple of cycles, it is good to start trying. Day one of your period is the first day of your cycle and then you begin having sex on cycle day 10 every other day for the next 10 days. good luck and hope you are pregnant soon.
1828379 tn?1317757762 Are you planning to marry him or move in with him? You can try using the birth control pill to prevent ovulation and then stop taking the pill right when he comes, but I don't think it would be a good idea. Why do you want a baby so bad?
Avatar f tn me and my husband are trying to conceive but I stop taking birth control in December. I didn't have a menstrual cycle Until February 10. how long does it take for birth control to get out of your system? I have been taking prenatal vitamins for almost 3 months now. if anyone out there can help me how long did it take y'all to get pregnant after birth control?
Avatar f tn I started taking ortho tri-cyclen birth control pills since august 4, 2013 to help regulate my periods. I started my cycle/bleeding august 14 to 24 which was very odd to me b/c my cycles r 5-6 days long but this time it wasn't and my period came august 14, 2013 but it would usually come At the end of the month or sometimes the beginning or not at all. So since my period came then and lasted that long, does that mean my period is trying to get back on track?
Avatar f tn Its in my temples, the top of my head and the base of my skull. They tend to increase around my cycle, but that coule be during ovulation and menstruation which increases the frequency. I'm suffering and looking for the cure!
