Avatar f tn I am a 22-year-old medical student and know that normal cycle length varies between 28 to 35 days. My cycle however is around 40 days and sometimes more or less.. The question is, can that be normal? I'm a little overweight but not obese, I exercise regularly and I don't think I have any obvious signs of PCO. Any help?

Avatar f tn Hi, Optech, You are saying that instead of being the exact length of a calendar month (30 or 31 days, or 28 in the case of February), your cycles seem to be about 26 days long? That is not particularly unusual. The average menstrual month is about 28 days, though the length of women's menstrual months varies widely around the "average." Perhaps you are also saying that this last time was a shorter month than usual?

Avatar f tn It is not uncommon at your age for menstrual periods to be irregular, so I would wait up to about 6 weeks before being too concerned. Avatar f tn Hello, Femitrone and morning after pill when taken together can cause withdrawal bleeding and irregular menstrual cycle and it should not interfere with the working of the emergency contraceptive pill. However keep a check on your periods. If you miss them then do a urine for pregnancy test after 1 week of your menstrual cycle. Avatar n tn Your menstrual cycle begins when you ovulate, moves on to having a period, and then goes on to ovulate again, and then have another period, etc., from the time you begin to have periods at around age 11 or 12, to the time you stop at around age 51 or 52. The average cycle length, a "menstrual month," is often 28 days long from one ovulation to the next. Ovulation starts the process. An egg gets ripe in your ovary, and pops out like a little explosion into your abdominal cavity.
