Avatar n tn You count the length of your cycle from the first day of your last period to the first day of your next period. The length of your mentration does not calculate. Once you know the average length of your cycle, you can find out when you are supposed to O.
Avatar f tn I even took my charts to my GP at that time and asked her about it, and she assured me that as long as they were so regular the short cycle length should not be a prob to get PG. Now I am wondering if a 24 day cycle was maybe too short, that AF would already come before implant. What do you girls think? Could that be the case?and then also the cause of my infertility? If so, would progesterone suppositories from OV to AF been all I needed to carry a PG? Thanks!
Avatar f tn s reports of the usual length of their cycle. The women reported usual cycle lengths as short as 19 days and as long as 60 days, with 28 days being the most common. We found substantial correlation between usual cycle length at enrolment and day of ovulation (follicular phase length) during the study (R=0.55, all cycles). Thus, self reported cycle length can be useful in predicting whether a woman is in her fertile window.
Avatar m tn Are you saying you've been having sex for a year and she's not pregnant yet?
Avatar f tn I am a 22-year-old medical student and know that normal cycle length varies between 28 to 35 days. My cycle however is around 40 days and sometimes more or less.. The question is, can that be normal? I'm a little overweight but not obese, I exercise regularly and I don't think I have any obvious signs of PCO. Any help?
Avatar f tn Ovulation occurs at different times in different women, depending upon the length of your menstrual cycle. Ovulation predictor kits can help you determine when you are ovulating. Since it is more than a year and you have not conceived seek the opinion of an infertility expert. You will need evaluation for hormonal imbalances, PCOD, Pelvic inflammatory disease, blocked fallopian tubes; thyroid disorders and ovulation disorder etc.
Avatar n tn Given that I was on the pill for so long, does it take time for my cycle to normalize? I have no idea what the length of my cycle was prior to starting the pill. Thanks for any advice.

Avatar f tn A general physical examination and semen analysis of your husband is essential. A complete health history, menstrual cycle and sexual habits, a general physical examination and work up like blood hormone levels, pelvic ultrasound and HSG may be helpful. Do keep me posted. Best luck and regards!
Avatar f tn Pregnancy occurs only during the time of ovulation which usually occurs regularly, around day 14 of a 28-day menstrual cycle. It is seen that pregnancy only occurs if intercourse occurs within the 6 days prior to and including ovulation. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar n tn I have irregular period cycle. Ave period length is 2 weeks, with 2-3 weeks "break" in between. It causes my calendar to mess up (we're trying to conceive). Is this menstrual cycle normal? Any advice re timing?
1414894 tn?1288769040 As dydrogesterone helps regulate the healthy growth and normal shedding of the womb lining, it may be used in the treatment of menstrual disorders such as absent, irregular or painful menstrual periods, infertility, premenstrual syndrome and endometriosis. It may also be used to minimise the overgrowth of the womb lining due to oestrogen (the main female sex hormone) in hormone replacement therapy (HRT) following menopause.
Avatar f tn It may also be helpful for women with PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) who do not have a normal menstrual cycle. These women thus don’t ovulate or menstruate and cannot get pregnant. The condition when a woman does not have any menstruation at all is known as amenorrhea. Vitex or Chaste tree berry acts on the hypothalamus and pituitary glands by increasing luteinizing hormone (LH) production and mildly inhibiting the release of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH).

950954 tn?1271210887 Do you think I can benefit from Clomid after being told that I had a positive ovulation cycle last month and my menstrual period has begun to show signs of normality within the last 2 months? My HSG results were also good; my tubes are apparently both fine. I've read also that taking hot showers is not good for men. My husband has always taken hot showers, oddly even in the summer, but after getting himself checked out, he was told that he is fine...and that his sperm count is just fine.
Avatar f tn I agree, you really need to see a dr. A womans menstrual cycle plays a really big part in getting pregnant. There's medicine they can give you to start your period, then IF NEED BE there's also a medicine they can give you to help with ovulation. If your periods are coming only twice a year I suggest seeing your dr. Not being mean, but you could be wasting your time trying without seeing one.
Avatar f tn The last day of your cycle is the day before your next menstrual period starts. The average cycle length is considered 28 days, but many women have longer or shorter cycles and it's fine. The average women ovulates approximately 14 days before the start of her period, but again, that is certainly not carved in stone. The time between your ovulation and period is referred to as a luteal phase. Hope that helps.
Avatar n tn i was asked by my doctor to take ova mit for 7 days starting on the day 4 (21 tablet = 3 tablets to be taken altogether) of my menstrual cycle. i started taking them May 23rd. My doctor says it seems that i have LPD (Luteal Phase Defect) because of irregular menstrual cycles (my cycle ranges 27-29 days, but sometime i have cycles that are between 21-25 days). i'm already 31 and my husband and i have been trying for 2 years and 3 months and still no luck.
