Avatar f tn I want to know if it is possible to take the pill to regulate my cycle, as well as to lessen the cramps and the bleeding. I have had two periods since I had my son the first one was short and sweet but the second one was awful. I had to change every hour. I have never had cramps or extremely heavy bleeding but now I have both. I don't even get any relief pain wise until I take four pills. I don't want to get into to much detail but its bad.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if taking oral contraceptives (The Pill) can permanently change your menstrual cycle, even after you stop taking them? I used to always have really regular (28ish day long) cycles, but my last few have been almost a week longer than normal. I stopped taking The Pill about 3 months ago, and I know sometimes it takes a while to have a period again.
Avatar n tn No you're not pregnant this happens when you take birth control or the after pill your menstrual cycle gets crazy your body just needs time to adjust you'll be fine.
1644849 tn?1301040874 m not quite sure what you are asking either, but your bleeding right now may be due to going off of the pill. Could you call the doctor that prescribed the pill and ask some questions, or even if you could get in to see him? And, are you worried about pregnancy?
Avatar f tn Hello, Femitrone and morning after pill when taken together can cause withdrawal bleeding and irregular menstrual cycle and it should not interfere with the working of the emergency contraceptive pill. However keep a check on your periods. If you miss them then do a urine for pregnancy test after 1 week of your menstrual cycle. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar f tn I got my period on the 5th of december. I took the morning after pill on the 14 of december. I then started my period again on the 22nd of december. Should I have expected for my regular period to come on the 5th of january? And would I have ovulated again after this second period?
Avatar f tn the rest of the time, you are taking hormones to prevent ovulation---- you take the sugar pills to have a menstrual cycle to 'clear it out' in there. But, you still wouldn't ovulate during that time as you've had the hormone in your system the rest of the days preventing ovulation. You are still safe from pregnancy during the sugar pill phase. They put those in just so that women can really keep up with the routine of taking their pill at the same time every day.
628735 tn?1273875777 lol here is what i found on taking BC to stop the endo and why the cycle worsens it... I know its a lot of info but its interesting and helps to understand a bit about this stupid disease! "How endometriosis causes pain is the topic of much research. Because many women with endometriosis feel pain during or related to their periods, some researchers are focusing on the menstrual cycle in their search for answers about pain.

Avatar f tn The effects of the pill on your cycle can last for 4-6 weeks. Usually the cycle in which the pill is taken is NOT normal. Usually the next cycle after that one IS normal. Good luck!

Avatar f tn stress can mess up your cycle, so can diet and many other factors. have you started taking the pill or any other hormonal contraceptive? have you recently stopped using the pill, contraceptive? your doctor needs to do some futher investigation into this.
Avatar f tn Just keep taking the pill. You may or may not have some irregular bleeding this cycle. Don't worry about it. Just take one pill a day, and when you get to the inactive pills (or the last week), you should get some sort of menstrual type bleeding during that week.
Avatar f tn Well, my doctor said I would have a menstrual cycle No more then two weeks after taking the medicine. I saw a new doctor and she says there are 2 things that stop you from having a menstrual cycle 1 menopause and pregnancy we know it's not menopause cause I'm only 18. So if I have No cycle by Wednesday this week I go for a blood pregnancy test. I'm really tired all the time and I have frequent urination. I really hope I'm pregnant but I'm also scared.
Avatar f tn Now I resumed taking the pill in the middle of my menstrual cycle starting from the first tablet (I was supposed to get back on the pill on the first day of my period but I stupidly decided to start taking the pill without waiting for my period to begin). What is going to happen to me? (I didn't have sex all this time so I can't be pregnant).
1828379 tn?1317757762 if you both want a baby i would stop the pill altogether i would'nt stop and start it as you will only bleed and mess up your cycle. are you raising this baby alone if your partner lives overseas?
Avatar f tn Hi there and welcome. So, cycle day one is the first day of your period. You are saying you had sex two days after your period ended roughly, right? And you've been on the pill for a whole round of pills. Is that correct. You took them for a month already. If that is the case, I would imagine you are up and running in terms of the pill working. It's also mid cycle that pregnancy typically occurs.
1448937 tn?1284742036 Are you breastfeeding or bottle feeding. If you are breastfeeding then the hormones related to that often stop your menstrual cycle returning for a few months. When did you start taking birth control pills and what sort were they? If it's the mini pill then you can often get breakthrough bleeding.
Avatar n tn thanks for your responses. I probably should've mentioned before that I was just diagnosed with HPV last week, so I haven't had any more tests or treatments yet. As for pregnancy, I have had missed and irregular periods all summer. The ppl from planned parenthood said that the birth control pill I was on was causing that.
Avatar n tn Given that I was on the pill for so long, does it take time for my cycle to normalize? I have no idea what the length of my cycle was prior to starting the pill. Thanks for any advice.
1345608 tn?1276439442 To me, it sounds like you just may be headed in the way of your periods stopping altogether. This would be due to the hormones in the pill. It's not as common with the pill as it is with the Mirena IUD or the Depo shot, but it's not unheard of. Also, being 18, you're still going through some body changes, and even without any birth control at all, sometimes there will be times of irregularity in your period. The other possibility is that you've been losing weight.
Avatar f tn t be surprise if your stool turns black while taking the ferrous sulfate. This is one of the side effects of the iron supplement. Feel free to ask any clarifications or queries. Take care and do keep us posted with the result of your blood work. Take care!
Avatar f tn For the treatment of stopped menstrual periods (amenorrhea) and abnormal bleeding from the uterus, take this drug usually once daily for 5-10 days during the second half of the planned menstrual cycle or as directed by your doctor. Withdrawal bleeding usually occurs within 3-7 days after you stop taking the medication. Inform your doctor if your condition does not improve or if it worsens." I used to search on WebMD when I was taking provera.
