Avatar f tn Don't believe it!!! I had a partial hysterectomy in May 2010 and I've been having a period every month since then. I'm so frustrated. Now the doctor is telling me that since I didn't have my cervix removed, this is the cause to those periods. He's trying to tell me that bleeding after a hysterectomy is "normal" I'm looiking for another doctor.
Avatar f tn Although many assume or are led to believe that the ovaries continue functioning normally after a partial hysterectomy, that is not always the case. Once the uterus is removed, there is a risk that the ovaries will produce fewer hormones. It is even possible for them to completely shut down causing a surgical type menopause.

Avatar f tn I have read many questons on here about pain on the right side of the belly button. I too have that pain. It is about 2 inches to the right a little below the waist. I have had this pain for 9yrs now. I get it every month during my menstrual cycle. I have had NUMEROUS tests done & have had a partial hysterectomy done last year. I continue to have this pain. It is an extremely sharp pain & it has gotten to where it has started burning. I have been told it could be the bowel.
Avatar n tn Hi There, one simple way to know if cysts are functional - that is- related to the ovarian - menstrual cycle is to wait a cycle or two and rescan. Cysts that are related to ovulation will be gone and be replaced by new cysts with the new cycle. A persistent or growing cyst may be a tumor benign or malignant. Ca 125 is not a screen for cancer. The result just tells us that this cyst or tumor does not produce the CA 125 protein. I am assuming that tha 4.5 cm, 2.8 cm, 3.3 cm and 4.
Avatar n tn Unfortunately if you have a partial hysterectomy (uterus only), any remnants of the endometriosis in your pelvic region, etc. reacts to your hormonal cycle like your normal period. The endo swells and bleeds every month. That is why hormones are given to suppress the estrogen or removal of ovaries is suggested. A complete hysterectomy is often suggested as best remedy for severe endo. Endo is difficult to image by any means (US, CT, x-ray).
Avatar n tn Is it possible to get pregnant & have a baby after a partial hysterectomy? I had mine approx. a year ago, the only thing removed was my uterus, I have now met someone & decidided I want to have another child, is there anyway this can happen?
Avatar f tn It’s not possible. Only way to get pregnant after partial hysterectomy is the cervix wasn’t closed completely and a microscopic opening is there, or tubes wasn’t separated and closed in the stump. It’s so rare for this to happen. Better chance at winning the lottery.
Avatar f tn Not that i have heard. a hysterectomy causes early menopause which could give u pregnancy symptoms.
Avatar n tn I was wondering if because of still having the ovaries which leads to the menstrual cycle does one still experience PMS? By PMS I mean the moodiness, bloating, constipation etc? I know that removing the uterus would eliminate periods, but since the physical side of PMS is usually due to the slight swelling of the uterus, does it go away also? I can see the moodiness and possible cravings etc still present since they are due to the change in hormones through the cycle.
Avatar f tn Is there any difference in how an orgasm feels after having a partial hysterectomy? I have read that some women have clitoral orgasm and some have orgasms from their uterus. Have also read that having a hysterectomy can make a difference in some women. Suggestions?
Avatar n tn Is this a contraindication for proceeding with the surgery or can this procedure occur at any time during the menstrual cycle?
Avatar n tn A hysterectomy is a very serious , painful operation with the possibilty of very troublesome life time side effects..Only as a last resort should anyone get a hysterectomy. Your age matters too, the younger you are the less likely you will find a dr to perform the procedure. I think you do need to see your gyn and ask about possibilites to control menstural pain. there is a wide variety of meds..stay away from narcotics if you can.
Avatar n tn Hi all well I have 3 cysts two on my left one is 5 cm the other 4cm. the one on my right currently 3.5cm, mine have multiplied and got bigger like double in size from my last scan 3 months ago. I had a partial hysterectomy and don't have a menstrual cycle anymore. My Gyno is planning surgery for the third time in the last year for me in June. I have nausea, lack of bowel movement, bloating to the extreme I look preggy. I also have sore breasts and moody.
438513 tn?1215703374 Can a woman's TSH level be different during her menstrual cycle than it is the rest of the month? I know there are different reference ranges for pregnancy, but I've never heard anything about menstruation. Before my partial thyroidectomy in March, my TSH was 0.72. When I was on Synthroid post-op, it was 0.12. This week, without being on meds for a month, it was 2.44. My doc is not concerned since I am symptom free and still within normal range.
1809377 tn?1316520328 I am seeing my GYN tomorrow to make an apt to have a partial hysterectomy. I have seen a lot of the posts out there, but I would like to know what I can experiece post up... recovery time... discomforts... how long will it take for my body to get back to my new normal self, how long it will take for me to have sex again (it's been over 5 months)!!!
Avatar n tn I have had irregular bleeding, cramping and periods for the last several months. It started out as occasional spotting between periods and has progressed to feeling bloated, more frequent bleeding between periods, bleeding after intercourse every time, and cramping after intercourse. My periods are heavy and irregular - one month it will be 12 days in length, the next 2 days in length. I've had 3 OB/GYN's who have suggested a partial hysterectomy (leaving the ovaries).
Avatar f tn i took an i pill at 57th hour after a partial penetration which lasted only for 4-5 seconds...What does pale red vaginal discharge means after 2 days of taking an i pill ?? is that a sign of being pregnant?? also how long do the side effects of an i pill exist??
Avatar f tn Doc wants to do a partial hysterectomy because of my high risk for uterine cancer but want to hold off a year or so unless there is an emergency of course. So we will be doing a tubal for now, for those ladies that had tubals did it make the Pcos worse? I was warned it could but wanted to hear from women that had it done. Thanks!
Avatar f tn It has been 1 yr and 4 months after my Partial Hysterectomy, It took a good 4 - 6 months to completely heal. I had a Partial Hysterectomy because my Gyn said I had Endometriosis. I had my Uterus and my Cervix removed. They left both my ovaries. They had to leave my ovaries, because I have Essential Thrombocytosis (ET), (which is a platelet disorder, My bone Marrow produces too many platelets in my blood, causing clotting). I take meds to lower my platelet count.
Avatar f tn My breast are getting larger and swollen like and they hurt a lot when any pressure is put on them. I don’t have a menstral cycle anymore as 3 years ago I had a partial hysterectomy. What is going on ?
Avatar f tn i have anxiety that seems related to the menstrual cycle, specifically when estrogen drops in the cycle. I also developed all this for the first time after I stopped breastfeeding and got my cycle back. This is theory of course, but I was told that taking low dose hormones through birth control could help me to level out each month and hopefully diminish the symptoms. Just food for thought.
Avatar f tn I had a partial hysterectomy four years ago. Ever since my hysterectomy I seem to get a watery discharge. Gynae puts me on antibiotics goes away for a while and comes back a few months later. The discharge is clear and there is no odour or pain on itch.
Avatar f tn I had a partial hysterectomy in January of last year due to ovarian cysts and precancerous cells. I am only 29 so my doctor did not think I would have many issues or need to be on hormone therapy. But since then I have gained close to 30 pounds (I have gone from 130 to 160, all or the weight centralized to my stomach- and my breasts have gone from a c cup to an EEE .... ) despite clean eating and exercising regularly.
