Avatar n tn I do not wish to come off as sounding rude. But this is an ovarian cancer forum, and asking questions about pregnancy is really not appropriate. There are many young women here, that due to ovarian cancer, are no longer able to have children. There is a womens health forum and if i am not mistaken there is also a pregnancy forum. Questions like this are better left to a different forum.
Avatar f tn HI. How long has the cyst been there? When cysts are discovered the doctors will normally observe it for up to 3 months to see if it disappears itself, which a lot of cysts can. If it is causing severe pain, not resolving, or if it is suspicious in any way the cyst may be removed or drained. Most ovarian cysts are harmless.
Avatar f tn Many women go for a routine ultrasound or pelvic examination early in their pregnancy and come away with the surprise finding of an ovarian cyst. Usually, this cyst comes from the corpus luteum. After an egg is released from the ovary, the corpus luteum is responsible for making the hormone progesterone. It is this hormone that prepares the uterus for pregnancy.
Avatar f tn m not sure if you know this but, every month our bodies produce at least one tiny ovarian cyst with every menstrual cycle. However, for some reason, after our menstrual cycle is over, some women are prone to their body not releasing the small cyst with the end of the cycle. I have had many cysts come up on ultrasounds and within a couple of months, has either burst or has leaked. The only time surgeons tend to do surgery is when the ovarian cyst is large and will not go away.

Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with right ovarian cyst back in 2012 (17 years old). I went to the hospital and the doctor advised me to undergo operation, but then I insisted to undergo operation since I've to take some important exam on that year. In 2012, hospital seems to be my second home. Things getting worst at the end of 2012, I had high fever (39.9°C) and I still remember during that time I'm period day 1 or day 2. Then I started to follow up like once for two weeks.
Avatar f tn These ovarian cysts which start during the normal function of menstrual cycle are called functional cysts which are of two types follicular cyst and corpus luteal cyst. Most of these cysts are harmless and disappear over a period of time. They are usually asymptomatic. In few patients cysts may cause menstrual irregularities, pelvic pain. In such cases medical help should be sought. Large cysts need surgical removal .
Avatar f tn Hello, The cause of irregular periods could be due to hormonal imbalance, stress, chronic illness, polycystic ovarian disease, thyroid gland disorders or diseases, pituitary gland tumors or cyst, galactorrhea, prolactinomas etc. You should consult a gynecologist and get examined and investigated as soon as possible to know the exact cause of all these episodes.
Avatar f tn A week later I was rushed to the ER with another larger pneumothorax of the left lung again where I was hospitalized for 2 weeks. I had pleurodesis and cyst removal done to my lung. After that, the doctor noticed I always have protein in my urine, and sometimes blood in my urine. I was referred to a nephrologist but she saw nothing serious enough to do something about it. Then in July of 2011 I was diagnosed with a large ovarian cyst on my right ovary that had ruptured and was removed.
Avatar n tn I am concerned about a relapse. I had my menstrual cycle 5 days after the cyst was diagnosed, and I had to take a prescription pain med to get over the burning pain in the ovarian area. I was doubled over in pain and vomiting from it. Is this going to happen every month, and will I also be at risk for colon infection if the cysts keep appearing outside the normal monthly cycles?
1973052 tn?1332868276 Such types of functional cysts often appear in relation to the menstrual cycle. They are due to the hormonal changes that take place during the menstrual cycle. These cysts will disappear spontaneously most of the times. But follow up is necessary. Take care.
Avatar n tn Hi There, one simple way to know if cysts are functional - that is- related to the ovarian - menstrual cycle is to wait a cycle or two and rescan. Cysts that are related to ovulation will be gone and be replaced by new cysts with the new cycle. A persistent or growing cyst may be a tumor benign or malignant. Ca 125 is not a screen for cancer. The result just tells us that this cyst or tumor does not produce the CA 125 protein. I am assuming that tha 4.5 cm, 2.8 cm, 3.3 cm and 4.
Avatar f tn last week i had an ultrasound done and found a cyst on my left ovary the size of an orange. i go back next week (after my menstrual cycle) to see if it has decreased in size. i have endometriosis (early stages) and did have a cyst rupture a few years ago. I was also bleeding for about 2 weeks, which has now stopped (menstrual cycle is over). my question is what are the chances that this will decrease in size considering my last check up witht he doctor was in november?
Avatar f tn I have a friend who every time her menstrual cycle starts she gets very ill. She has prolong vomitting. Today she vomit up a yellow substance that looked something like the yellow part of fried eggs. Every month during her cycle she goes through the same thing. Fatigue, vomiting, and heavy bleeding. She do not have any kids.(not sure if this is any help) She cant keep anything down and she stays in the bathroom all day because of the heavy bleeding and more so the vomitting.
Avatar n tn It starts with heavy spotting and then it seems like a regular menstrual cycle starts and stops then discharge, then begins again. Im so confused and it only seems to be blood on the bottom part of a tampon.......can anyone help me understand...
Avatar f tn Ovarian cysts can affect the menstrual cycle. That said, in perimenopause estrogen and progesterone levels are irregular and missed menstrual periods are a symptom.
Avatar f tn I was so dizzy I could not function and my heart felt like it was ready to bust out of my chest with just walking up the stairs. The culprit was found to be an ovarian cyst that had twisted. A biopsy revealed that it was benign and I have not had any follow up in a year. The problem is within the last 3 months I have began to have abnormal mensrual cycles again lasting for up to 7 days and reoccuring two times a month.
Avatar f tn Not only that but it typically takes the body an inordinate amount of time to recover after being on it so getting a normal menstrual cycle back after multiple rounds of shots is rare. I'd say it's pretty much to be expected that you'd have issues with your cycle after getting two shots.

Avatar n tn I Was Just Wondering Like I Took A Pregnancy Test and It Came Out Positive but I Have An Ovarian Cyst Could I Really Be Expecting or Is It The Cyst...Also My Period Is Like Two Weeks Late...
Avatar n tn Ovarian cysts are a normal part of the menstrual cycle but it's not unusual for them to hang around longer than normal and they can get rather large. A lemon-sized one isn't all that big and its good it's a simple cyst. Ultrasounds can usually give a fairly good indication if the cyst is concerning or not. But even complex ones are usually benign. Doing another u/s in 2 or 3 months is pretty standard.
Avatar m tn I think you should ask her doctor for more information besides just the word "cysts." There are different kinds, and they probably have different causes. Here are some. Related to the menstrual cycle: Follicular cyst. A follicular cyst begins when the follicle doesn't release its egg at mid-month, but continues to grow. Corpus luteum cyst. When a follicle releases its egg, it begins producing estrogen and progesterone for conception.
