Avatar m tn My wife started menopause about 2 years ago , with skipping menstrual cycles . Now she has hot flashes and no periods . She was not really a sex enthusiast before , but now it's 2 or 3 months inbetween . What could women do to reduce the symptoms of menopause ? Does anyone who has an increased sex drive because of menopause ?
Avatar n tn ve provided good info and a very optimistic look at this challenge called menopause. I am 47 and I just started to get the cramps although I've missed my period for the last 2 month. The cramps are pretty bad considering that I've never experienced them before during my period, I must say I've been pretty lucky. Thanks for sharing your experience with us. It helped a lot.
Avatar f tn Even one of my friend is suffering with the similar type of issue she is having breast cancer and her menstrual cycle is very irregular like she has periods twice in six months and when it comes she has to face heavy bleeding with menstrual cramps. Some how with the use of menstrual cups she manages the bleeding but the pain and other problems she faces during this is unbearable.Check here for more information about menstruation at http://www.cupissima.com .
Avatar n tn At 47, menstrual changes can certainly be due to menopause approaching. But that is not the only reason. Hormonal problems and imbalances, thyroid problems, or mechanical problems such as fibroids and uterine polyps are common other things that can cause you to bleed abnormally. Iron deficiency is another. The best thing is to make an appointment with your doctor.
1582332 tn?1296924865 I always had intermittent bleeding ( 2 monthlys) and they were heavy.....and I went into early menopause...I did not have my dx at the time so I had no idea...but, I now know I also have a thyroid condition common with us chiarians...Hashimoto's thyroiditis. As Pam pointed out many of us will have to deal with autoimmune issues as well as connective tissue disorders....and Hashimotos is autoimmune. Also check into Ehlers-Danlos as well....
Avatar n tn I am post-menopausal-- not having had a period in four years, but my twelve year old daughter just started her periods last month. Both last month and this month I have had menstrual like cramps and a bloated feeling starting the day before her period began and lasting 3-4 days. Before my daughter began menstruating I did not experience any of this "phantom cramping.
Avatar n tn Hi Menopause usually presents with menstrual irregularities .There may be a paucity in the menstrual flow or the menses may be profuse. Menopause usually takes place in the mid forties to early 50's. So the skin condition is not the only gauge for determining menopause. Other conditions have to be considered here , such as an allergic reaction or a dermatitis. Some forms of skin reactions need not present with a readily visible rash. Has the itchiness resolved already?
Avatar n tn Hello, The normal age range for the occurrence of menopause is somewhere between the age of 45 and 55. During menopause, the production of most of the reproductive hormones, including the estrogens, progesterone and testosterone, diminishes and becomes more irregular, often with wide and unpredictable fluctuations in levels, resulting in various symptoms.
Avatar f tn The pain felt like menstrual cramps but without contractions (you know like 10 minutes of pain then ease for 3 minutes then back to 10 min.). What could be the cause of this?
Avatar f tn Is it normal to have period like cramps during your pregnancy? Im 13 wks. I had those cramps this passed Monday, it woke me out of my sleep. It really made nervous and i checked to make sure i wasn't bleeding and i wasn't.

Avatar f tn Prior to having kids I had terrible cramps but for an 8 year period following the birth of my first child my cramps were mild. In the 4-6 months prior to my dx I had cramps again that rendered me bedridden. I passed huge clots that just didn't seem normal. I even resorted to buying the heat wraps that you can wear all day because I couldn't go about my daily activities due to the excessive pain I had the first few days of my cycle.
Avatar n tn Menstrual cramps are normal to have and I get severe menstrual cramps on the first day of my period as well. Typically it is just from hormones that causes the cramping, as the surge will cause contractions, making her period painful. Prevention is much better than management for pain. Exercise and eating healthy can help prevent menstrual cramps to a certain point, but won't always get rid of them.
Avatar f tn I am a 32 years old women and getting hot and on and off cold flashes though out the day is any one able to explain this to me.Last month my menstrual cyclical went longer than usual. My menstrual cyclical usually only go's for about 4 to 5 days, but last month my menstrual cyclical lasted 10 days.
Avatar f tn I imagine this would be no different from you entering a pool while menstruating except I have seen some warnings against pregnant women and menstruating women entering a wet sauna. Heat can help ease menstrual cramps, but it can also increase your heart rate which increases your menstrual flow. Hope this helps. Let us know anything else you find out.
Avatar f tn To me, they didn't feel any different. I was prepared for disappointment because I thought my period was about to come. I don't think every woman feels cramping during implantation, just like every woman does not experience spotting.
Avatar m tn Are you saying that during her menstrual period, she does not have a very heavy flow at all, just some cramping? She could be in the beginnings of menopause. (It can take a woman 10 years to go through menopause, maybe this is the start.) But I would suggest she check with a doctor because 42 is a little young for that, possibly she has hyperplasia or a hormonal imbalance going on.
382218 tn?1341181487 Advil helps, just like it does with actual menstrual cramps. Any clue what this might be? My GP suggested it might just be due to ovulation but wouldn't it happen on some regular frequency if that's the case? I may ask her to order an ultrasound to make sure nothing serious is going on.
467797 tn?1216211257 I was beginning to suspect that I was entering an early menopause. But since the ablation, those symptoms have disappeared except the night sweats and insomnia - these are much more milder though. With the already lack of a menstrual cycle, how would I know when I hit menopause?
Avatar f tn Fibromyalgia patients may also experience an increase in mood swings and dysmenorrhea, menstrual pain strong enough to disrupt day-to-day activities. Women whose fibromyalgia symptoms worsen during their menstrual periods experience a steadier pattern of fibromyalgia symptoms after menopause, though not necessarily a lessening of them. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I've been going through menopause I think for three years. ha. Not really funny but what can we do but laugh. So, things that I have as I go through this are yes, fatigue. Moodiness, scary. Insomnia that is cyclic and lasts for about 3 days before I DO get a period. Anxiety. I am opposite than you though in that as I neared the point I am now (no period for 9 months -- have to get to over a year for it to be 'official' menopause), I had very heavy periods.
Avatar f tn I am 30 yr old female and have pre ovarian failure and Add to dictionary thyroiditis. I went to the OB 3 separate times for what I thought was menstrual cramps. I had a vaginal ultrasound done two years ago, so no recent one was done in my 3 separate OB visits. The last visit the OB said it could be a gastro issue. I went to gastro and discussed my awful cramps along with symptoms of constipation followed by diarrhea and she ordered a flex sig and celiac test. Both normal.
