Common Questions and Answers about Menopause memory problems

memory

Avatar f tn I'm not a physician, but I can offer a few ideas. Since you have a pulmonary disease and high blood pressure and high cholesterol, it's possible your brain is not getting enough oxygen, so you're getting drifty. Could be you need to have a little oxygen mask to sleep with and that might help. An internal medicine doc should review your whole health picture and decide what to do.
Avatar n tn If menory is memory then it's a big time yes to lapses at least in perimenopause (I haven't made it to menopause quite yet). In addition to the memory issues I've also had problems finding words, I saw it referred to once as "losing one's vowels" and I love that analogy.
Avatar n tn Or fibromyalgia which can make you feel like a truck ran over you and cause memory problems/mental fog. Ask your doc for help with the depression and constipation. See a Gynecologist and check out the possibility of menopause and a Rheumatologist for the possibility of fibro. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I have been having hot flashes about two years. The memory thing, mood swings, and insomnia, we cannot judge for I have a TBI and PTSD from injuries I sustained when I was in the military. But I have only missed one period. A doctor, last August, wanted to put me on birth control pills for three months to try to stop my periods. I tried it. It did not work. Now I'm being told I am actually in menopause but my body forgot to quit bleeding? I am scared.
Avatar f tn So my question is at 45 years old, no kids, hysterectomy 4 years ago, with these problems can they affect my mental status, i have problems concentrating, some days i have no desire to get dressed, just want to lay around and rest, i dropped 30lbs in 6 weeks when all this started, several symptoms, just mainly concerned with the foggy thinking loss of memory problems.
Avatar m tn It sounds like you may be having some work problems. That can cause stress and the memory problems too.
Avatar f tn I have the exact problem. I have ADHD. I dont remember a lot before the age of 13, from then I had to mostly relearn everything I had learned in my younger years. Now I find it hard to remember anything I read, listen to, or try and study. I feel lost and confused since I am only 19 with this type of problem.
Avatar n tn One is if you have hypothyroid or Hashimoto's disease, which both mean your thyroid gland is not producing enough hormone, and thus you can get that collection of problems. So, visiting an endocrinologist and getting your thyroid tested is how to find out if it's your thyroid doing all this to you. Two is if you are taking some sort of medication that is giving you these as side effects, so you would review any drug you're on and see if you need to have it changed.
676143 tn?1312941771 So does anyone else have problems with memory lately? I feel like the baby is sucking my brain away. I keep forgetting so many little things. Luckily, it hasn't gotten me in to too much trouble yet - but one of these days I am going to forget something really important!
1260255 tn?1288654564 I've read people mentioning memory problems, but have not seen one type of memory problem discussed. Do any of you have problems where your memory does not store information? There are numerous occasions when I have absolutely no recall of conversations. This happened several weeks ago when my son called me at work. He told me that the grill was corroded at the bottom. I have no recall of this whatsoever, but his girlfriend was sitting next to him and vouches for him.
Avatar f tn I have FM for over 12 years now, I've read numerous books, I belong to the National Fibromyalgia Network, The Fibromyalgia Association, and follow the latest research on many aspects of FM. These include, medical and pharmaceutical research. There is NO evidence that people with FM have brains that age faster. There is a neurological aspect to FM that can affect our brains. Our neurotransmitters may not be firing right to put it simply.
Avatar f tn Not that I would wish any one on this post, especially you Dave, to have memory problems, but at least I feel more assured that it is normal. Thanks for responding.
Avatar m tn And I feel like I have forgotten everything I spent the past 3-4 years paying to learn ! I was an honours student in undergrad and never had memory problems before. I am also having huge problems concentrating on what people are saying to me. It's like I am not listening no matter how hard I try to listen my brain wanders off into zombie land. And I am only 29. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to regain one's memory and concentration ?
Avatar f tn 30 rounds of radiation I am now taking Femara. I am wondering if this drug in any way effects the memory, or thought process. I have been having a lot of memory loss and confusion when speaking. It's like I know what I want to say but sometimes can't seem get the correct words out. Any help would be much appreciated.
Avatar n tn It could very well be. Fibro affects people differently. I would see a neurologist or a rhuematologist i have seen both. I have fibromyalgia amongst other things. But some things that can mimic fibro problems are things like sleep disorders which most people who have them don't realize they do and lyme disease. My biggest issue with fibromyalgia is the constant body pain. I hurt from head to toe. Sometimes its a dull ache feeling sometimes its so bad i can barely walk.
Avatar f tn This usually presents with widespread myalgia (muscle ache) and arthralgia (bone and joint ache), headaches, chronic mental and physical exhaustion, cognitive difficulties, concentration difficulty and memory problems. Cognitive behavior therapy, memory games, multivitamin therapy, nutritional care, graded increase in exercise all help to treat it. There is no cause for this.
Avatar n tn Why at the age of 41 do I have problems concentrating and even sometimes understanding my childrens homework. I get very testy and my patients gets very thin. This discussion is related to fuzzy head, constant head cold, can't concentrate, bad memory, fluid in head.
Avatar m tn Hi I am a 48 year old woman presently going through menopause. I have the usual hot flashes and night sweats. Been having dizziness and a feeling of being off balance for a few years now. Recently this has become worst. I had a terrible time when flying to see my daughter. It was unbearable. I was wondering if anyone had the same problem to this extent. I also avoid elevators. P.S. Ears are fine as this has been checked.
Avatar f tn Can you go threw menopause at 27? For the past year and a half I have had my period constantly. I've been to my Dr. and he will put me on different hormone pills or hormonal birth control and everytime I start takeing something about the 2nd week I start bleeding so bad I can't even leave the house, so I quit taking it and it takes a couple weeks to go back to light flow. I get so frustrated. I'm a stay at home mom with 4 kids.
Avatar f tn Hence you may neither be having peri-menopause nor PCOS. Burning in the mouth can be due to problems with the teeth and gums or due to stomatitis or inflammation in the mouth or due to deficiency of vitamins. Since you have regular cycles and are in good health there is nothing to worry about. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle with a healthy diet, regular exercise and supplements of vitamin B complex, calcium and vitamin D will help. The answer is based on information provided.
Avatar f tn The right side of my body is freezing, I have not had a period for almost two years now, experiencing hot flashes for 4 years (thought it was menopause but after an exam by gyn she states I show no signs of menopause, wth?) FYI, the right side coldness of my body is new, 2 weeks now and is probably from the fact I multiple problems with my spine (lumbar, thorax and neck) soo most likely that is from either a: nerves being pinched or something touching my spinal cord. Butt..
1410068 tn?1282729167 t think menopause causes limb weakness, heaviness, headaches, ON, memory problems, numbness and pain in my hands, brain fog, concentration problems etc. If anyone know if menopause can or does cause these things could you please let me know. I'm still waiting to get into see the other neurologist. I have to get all test results first and fax them to this dr. before they will even give me an appt. This P.A.
15907588 tn?1443880242 I am 41 and dealing with perimenopause, I am having hot flashes (least of my problems) insane brain fog and memory issues (this ***** but whatever) the thing that is horrible for me are the insane rage outbursts and feeling totally out of control. I flip out over everything. I don't understand this and I feel completely out of control. I was prescribed an antidepressant, I don't want to take meds but maybe do a more natural approach. Are these symptoms normal?
Avatar f tn Actually the family member who has cyclothymia had hot flashes before the onset of menopause and has thyroid problems as well and has to take a minor dose of synthroid so it might be the first which is always worse in bipolar and the second which is a possibility.
