Avatar f tn I just saw a new neurolgist, as the 1st one would not look into the matter and had a VER - Visual evoked response - test done yesterday. I know the results were different between the 2 eyes. Does anyone know what this test is for ( what the results determine) or had it done? For one eye the pattern was small waves & a slope upwards on @ a 45 degree angle with more small waves at the top, then a gradual slope down.
620048 tn?1358018235 Well, i talked to m Dr's nurse and she said that my LP test showed inflamation...and damn, i just talked to her on the phone and as soon as I hung up i forgot what she said about the VEP test....but there was something. Both tests showed something that will help with the diagnosis. I see the Dr in a week so i will know more. I couldnt more out of the nurse of course, not that i didnt try. Anyone have an idea what this means?
Avatar f tn Hey Kelly - I'm glad to have found this post! I just posted a min or 2 ago about memory and cognitive problems myself. My name is also Kelly :) I wanted to ask, what is the goal of the cognitive test? I mean... what will this do for you and your Dr.? Meaning.... is this going to help determine a specific treatment plan or disability? I'm just wondering out of personal frustration. Test after test after test.... lets say I take this test, hypothetically.
Avatar f tn Hello, I was in a car accident in the beginning of 2004. It was quite a severe accident in the way it happened, as I was run off the road by a hummer, and then went over quite a few curbs, down a 2.5 ft drop, through a 1ft high brick wall, and then through a wooden picket fence. I did not lose conscience, but the airbag deployed and I had a slight burn to my lower face from it.
Avatar f tn I have weakness on my left side but all test come back normal. any suggestions on what to do?
Avatar f tn Plaques are quite typical of MS, which is a demyelinating disease of the nervous system with clinical features like visual blurring due to optic neuritis, decline in cognitive function and memory loss, numbness and spastic weakness in limbs. Diagnosis would depend on the criteria set for MS and includes MRI brain and spine, csf analysis and visual, somatosensory evoked potentials. You would need your neurologist to assimilate your symptoms with investigations. Best wishes to you.
Avatar f tn I have been to many neurologist specialists. My general neurologist referred me to all of them. The last one was an M.S. specialist (today). She said a had a number of problems that don't add up to anything specific. I have a balance problem, a memory problem, a slight vision problem, and hyperreflexia. I have small white matter lesions in the periatrial and centrum semiovale of my brain. Are these common areas for M.S? I had a negative lumbar puncture. One neuro said I have M.S.
645800 tn?1466860955 s written on it is constantly being wiped off and replaced with something else, information is only transferred into our long term memory if it is repetitive, of significance, connected to an emotion etc. Visual memory also comes into play in both long and short term memory too. There is also a difference in not being able to find where you put something and not actually 'seeing' something that is visibly right there under your nose.
Avatar n tn reasoning, and more by repeating things immediately, 15 minutes later, half hour later, little puzzles and test to test your ability to sort things and solve problems. That test takes a few hours.
Avatar f tn Not sure about the ERG, but have had two VER visual evoked response or some call it VEP visual evoked potential. They mark the sites on the scalp with a marker where they are going to place the wires that measure the response speed from the optic nerves to the brain. It is completly painless and only takes about 30-45 min.
Avatar m tn Then, dark floaters appeared as well as dancing flashes of light, usually in my upper visual field. When I would stare at a homogenous surface, like a white wall, it seemed like I couldn't "put it together" in my mind and would perceive horizontal lines imposed on it. And when I close my eyes, I perceive what seem to be afterimages, however they are not afterimages of anything I would look at, but usually lines in a number of orientations.
Avatar f tn During the visual where i had to look at the checker boards i kept blinking and was having a hard time focusing. Does anyone know if this could affect the results of the test? Also is there any indication by the way the body responds to weather or not the tests are abnormal. Like with the visual hard time focusing and blinking and when they sent the electricty through my hand it was making other parts of my body have the spams like i usually do.
Avatar f tn What is a Visual Field Test? How can it help in the differentiating MS from other conditions?
689367 tn?1227469139 I had a visual field test the other day and the results were not as perfect as usual. Dr. noticed a slight defect in my right eye. Normally when I go in to have a visual field test done, it is the only test for the day. This time however, the Dr put eye drops in my eyes to numb my eyes so that he could test my pressure (tonometry) and then he used a new machine (forgot name) to test the amount of fluid in my eyes, right after I was immediately sent to do my visual field test.
Avatar n tn Thought it could be onset of Glaucoma and scheduled Visual Field test. The testing device is called Oculus Easyfield. I passed in my right eye and barely failed in my left eye. Scheduled a follow-up Visual Field test with more or less the same results. Of interest to her though is that the area of my left eye that seemed to be a problem was the top section, slightly to the left. She advised that because it was that area, it didn't seem likely it would be glaucoma.
5509293 tn?1428531475 He looked inside eye and said he saw elongation. He wants to do visual field test to rule out anything neurological. LOL given my history. He didn't think it was 'optic atrophy' but wanted to be sure. Have any of you had visual field test? Was it useful for a general dx? Is optic atrophy the same as optic neuritis? The adventures continue, whether I'm actively pursuing or not!
Avatar m tn d like to ask whether I could make a use of it by calling it up when I need it. Would match perfectly to my photographic memory for my surrounding, meaning that I remember places, streets , etc perfectly even after a decade I've been there.
Avatar n tn I suffered a cerebral hemmorhage many years ago (22) and presently suffer from short term memory trouble and visual impairment (hemianopsia). About 2 years ago, I experienced insomnia and wa sgiven ambien. Since then, I've taken approx 5mg nightly and have noticed a substantial improvement in my short term memory. I have also recently had my visual fields mapped and there has been notable improvements in areas of vision.
Avatar m tn It all started when I suddenly arose only to see a number of white stars flickers across my visual fields (this is apparently known as sheerers phenomena). After this even, I slowly began to develop visual snow, which affected my depth perception, and made everything seem as if it were swirling. Eventually, I began to develop a sensitivity to afterimages, which last a particularly long time; as well I often see my blind spot, and see many floaters in my visual field.
439664 tn?1204660958 Hello all I haven't checked in since my neuro said I didn't need meds. I am kinda confused. I did have a VEP after that. His nurse called me and said it was normal. Then I got the results in the mail and said it was abnormal. I'm not sure what to think now were my other test not normal also. P100 latency on left side 108.8 and right 105.35 left to right difference of 3.
Avatar m tn Lately, the pain has become much worse and I have also been having visual disturbances and HUGE memory problems, like I sometimes cannot remember the simplest of words. I am becoming scared and don't know what else to do. I do not see my neurologist again for another few weeks and I have nothing I can take at home which will help with the pain. I am, basically, looking for any advice on dealing with this and finding if there are any other drugs I have yet to be prescribed which help.
