Avatar f tn Hi, I don't have MS as I see this is a forum for MS sufferers. But I've been desperately trying to find a forum with people with similar symptoms to myself and this is what came up. For the past few months, I've been 'losing words', forgetting names of people I've known for years, or favourite actors etc. Today I wrote on my facebook "Good get used to a 3 day week" instead of "Could get used to a 3 day week".
Avatar n tn reasoning, and more by repeating things immediately, 15 minutes later, half hour later, little puzzles and test to test your ability to sort things and solve problems. That test takes a few hours.
Avatar n tn Go to a neurologist and ask to have a neuropsych test done. it helps them determine what is causing the memory issues. All they do is a bunch of test and memory test with you to help you find out whats wrong.
Avatar f tn Hi Helen, Chemo brain is now accepted and understood by our oncologists and I, like Gail have notes to remind me of things and a to do list that I update daily. I've been on chemo for pretty much 3 straight years and it's taken a toll on my memory. I can't recall words but can describe what they mean. I have trouble connecting names with people some times, and have to read old recipes over and over. Lots of women have to deal with, and accept chemo brain as their new normal, sorry.
645800 tn?1466860955 The computer displayed each of these pairs twice and then you had to pick from another set of 2 words which was the one on the lists they had shown you. This test was to test how well you associate words and I did very good on it. The second computer test consisted of 4 blocks on top of the screen each with different colors, number of symbols, and type of symbol. It then brought up one at a time other blocks for you to figure out what why to match the new blocks to the 4 on top.
547181 tn?1255146506 My long term memory is good but short term memory has become very weak. i m much worried about it. it is making problems in my studies as well as daily routine of life. i forget things after putting somewhere.
Avatar m tn I also when talking or typing will forget words. I honestly had to read over this post a couple of times to add in a few words. I would forget words such as....Every *** has to go. I would forget to type "one". I do not know if the two symptoms are connected in any way.
Avatar f tn For the past year or so, I've been having problems remembering and focusing. Before I can get through a paragraph, I've forgotten that quick what I have read. I'm also having trouble finishing my sentences because I can't remember simple words to express my thoughts. I also have migraines around the same time every month. Is this stress related or related to something else.
Avatar f tn I have found that ALL opiates effect my memory. I would find myself stopping midsentence and looking for words or trying to remember what I was saying. I am 37 days opiate free and constantly find myself trying to remember a movie or conversation from when I was activily using opiates and find I can't remember it all, almost like a blackout from alcohol. Just another reason I am glad to be free of all that now... I can remember so much more and don't stop mid-sentence as much.
Avatar f tn Over the last 6 months, I have been forgetting simple words. I know this happens to everyone now and again but it is noticeable increasing for me and my husband has commented on it. As an example during a discussion with my husband, instead of using the word "bury him" I said "put him down" which I then explained "as put him down in a hole in the ground". My normal memory and mental functions don't seem to be impaired at all.
Avatar f tn I have been having a ruff time with my memory, Like i'm missing a beat in conversation and loosing words even ones i just read. I'm 28 so i shouldn't be going senile. Are others having this issue and if so what can or are you doing about it?
Avatar f tn Dyslexia is actually somewhat common, President Wilson had it, and it is VERY hard for those people to see letters in any sort of organized way and they get words out of order, so it takes them three times as long to learn something. I think a professional who understands learning differences could be recommended by an elementary school nearby, it's good you've recognized a possible problem now.
Avatar m tn Hi I am 35 year old non drug using male, who also drinks very little. Last year i had a bout of itch hands which was followed by mental confussion and lines appearing wavey rather than stright. Was Hospitalized and had ct and mri done, plus all the usual blood tests. Found nothing after 6 weeks everything went back to normal, except my eyes which have 20/20 vision but i see white noise in the dark ceiling at night.
757137 tn?1347196453 I know that I a deficient in iodine. What I would like to know is whether painting your skin with Lugol's solution tells you accurately how deficient you are, or if the test is all bunk. If the test is efficacious it would seem that you could achieve a more accurate dosage. The internet is not too helpful. Many thanks for any information.
Avatar n tn Does anyone have ideas why my wife has been slurring her words for 6 months. She is 69 & has always been in very good health. We eat very healthy & she is just slightly overweight. We drink good well water & live in a clean forest. She's never had any drugs but does drink some red wine. The slurring is worsening.
Avatar f tn You go to an allergist and he can determine if you have one of about a half-dozen dangerous molds in your system, he can test for those specific kinds by doing a culture. If the allergist is clueless as to what those toxins might be, ask him for a referral. Also, you can do an online search for the words "toxic mold, symptoms" and you'll get some websites that list them off, so at least you'll be knowledgeable about them.
414131 tn?1202530891 I am experiencing various problems mostly with memory. I am 49 and was diagnosed a year ago with diabetes. My A1C was 6.5. I was very tired. I could fall asleep at the drop of a hat. All I had to do is sit down and start to relax. My brain was not working so well either. My memory was becoming almost a thing of the past. I was having what I call random access bad sectors. It would strike randomly and I never knew if I would recover what I just forgot.
Avatar m tn What I have noticed is fatigue, some cognitive confusion and short-term memory loss. For example not being able to recall words from my vocabulary when speaking to someone, or forgetting what I walked into a room to do. A definite negative change from a few months ago. From reading about it this is due to GABA interaction in the brain. When I stop taking the medication, everything seems to come back to normal, which is good. However, it worries me that after reduction(?
1225279 tn?1295545587 Memory- Repeat actions, words. Cannot get words out, finish thoughts, finish sentences, find words. Limbs forget what to do. Short term amnesia feeling. Calling daughter sisters name, cat daughters name, putting remote in fridge, not knowing where plates go , etc. Moods are confused rather then manic. Just need ideas. Thats all I ask. Neurologist wants me to go to University of Michigan which I am going to do. Who knows how long it will take for them to figure or not figure something out.
Avatar n tn Is it possible that at the time he is learning something he is rote learning it (in the same way that he can remember his reading book ie. he is using his brilliant memory and not actually learning the letters/words). My son is exactly the same. He gets a reading book and after the first reading he has remembered it. He also knows all the words and moves in a film after he has seen it once. I can point to words on the page and he can tell me what they say.
