I am 55, female, and have developed a dreadful memory. I know people forget things, but, on times I get worried about dementia, I've done a memory test with the doctor which I passed, that sort of thing I can do easily. But its day to day life, for example I take zapain for cluster headaches, I usually take half of it out as I find they make me really sleepy, today I am not sure if I've accidentally taken a whole one. I have to double check appointment times.
If they find you sleep fine, then your memory problems may be associated with something entirely unrelated to sleep. if someone thinks he lost consciousness at one point, say during a fight because he has a memory gap that makes sense to him only if he was knocked out, is there a medical test to show that he indeed lost counsciousness? If so, how soon after the knock out would the test have to be performed?

He has really bad short term memory. I mean he could of just stopped something and forget he did it 30 seconds later.
Another thing is ill ask him take the trash bag out the can, empty the small can into the bag you took out the big can so your dad can take it outside because you cant take it outside by yourself. "Ok mom" but instead he just took the big trash outside by himself and does nothing with the little trash.
He is in regular classes and still gets honor roll.
I often have the problem that i don't remember stuff or forget them. In exemple when i'm loading my car for work, i often end up forgetting important stuff. Or when poeple tell me things, i just forget it after a while. Sometimes when they mension what i forgot they said i can recall them telling me that. But a lot of the time i can't recall them telling me that.

your memory problems could be from your actual Depression not being taken care of.
When I had my 1st Major Depression, I had a form of memory loss problem, and that was BEFORE I took any meds.
In other words, my depression caused my memory loss. The medications actually restored my memory loss.
So plz call your Doc and tell him/her of your memory problem.
5 mm larger, (Ophthalmic exam was normal) but it has been 10 weeks and she still has short-term memory problems. Her memory is getting better. If all brain related causes (transient ischemic attack, disorders of hypothalamus, dementia and multiple sclerosis, head injury etc) are ruled out then Vit B12 deficiency, chronic fatigue syndrome, sleep disorders (by sleep studies), depression, use of certain drugs, and certain types of seizures (where memory loss is the predominant symptom) should be investigated for as the cause of memory loss.

I am struggling with hiv fear and remembering if I used a condom or not. I have a history of not being able to remember events or checking things. for example. if I come to close to a car while driving I would sometimes go back to check if I hit it even though I know I did not. This has also happened to me in my sex life. I am certain I used the condom every girl that I have been with at this massage parlor always uses one, but for some reason I am keep wondering if I did use one.

It is not unusual for a head injury to cause some form of memory loss, and this is because these particular brain cells have been damaged as well. The body heals in miraculous ways and it IS possible for your girlfriend to regain her memory, and for these brain cells to be repaired. It will take time, and this will definitely be a test of patience for the both of you.
t know if that has anything to do with my memory. I am a senior at a University, but I only remember my notes short term enough to take a test then I forget it all. I want to be able to recall memories of my childhood. I sit and think hard, but nothing comes to my mind. My thoughts are always jumbled up. Everyone knows I don't have a good memory, but only my mom and I know to what degree.
Besides being bed rest and all different problems, mostly she has suffered a dry mouth for 8 days and now she is in extreme pain. She was and is aware of everything and great memory. However it has been few days we noticed she is not logic. For example she is asking us to let her go home or walk all the time and she doesn’t know her left side has been paralyzed. Another example, she took off the nasal tube (for feeding) from her nose. She doesn’t accept what we tell her logically.
After a certain amount of time events are completely erased or I have a very hard time recalling them. For example I was almost raped and I had no memory of this (again friends and journals). But that could just be "trama lose" or what ever its called. Though its more like I'm forgetting everything that happened 6 months back - to events that happened before my concussion (about a year and 1/2 ago). And short term is well short term haha.
