Avatar n tn One is if you have hypothyroid or Hashimoto's disease, which both mean your thyroid gland is not producing enough hormone, and thus you can get that collection of problems. So, visiting an endocrinologist and getting your thyroid tested is how to find out if it's your thyroid doing all this to you. Two is if you are taking some sort of medication that is giving you these as side effects, so you would review any drug you're on and see if you need to have it changed.

1998316 tn?1328972756 What are the symptoms of adult ADD? Would i have had to have it as a child? I remember as early as 6th grade i had trouble remembering things, poor memory and concentration, depression, allergies (which i didn't realize i had). Now, i am taking antidepressants and Klonopin. I have been on antidepressants since a young adult and on Klonopin for a couple of years. I was on Xanax before that.
Avatar f tn We are a 49YO woman and her 2 daughters, 22YO and 20YO, sick for 3+ years (not all at once). Lab results show (in all 3) ELEVATED Vitamin B12, TSH 3rd generation (up to 5.87), Beta globulin; DECREASED: globulin (type not specified) & vit D; blood calcium fluctuates from one test to another between 8.1-10.6; ANA is sometimes positive and sometimes negative.
1260255 tn?1288654564 I've read people mentioning memory problems, but have not seen one type of memory problem discussed. Do any of you have problems where your memory does not store information? There are numerous occasions when I have absolutely no recall of conversations. This happened several weeks ago when my son called me at work. He told me that the grill was corroded at the bottom. I have no recall of this whatsoever, but his girlfriend was sitting next to him and vouches for him.
Avatar f tn He is 9 and they are adult teeth. We are raw foodists and eat naturally. I am afraid the mercury could be harmful to him because he absorbs things into his body better than other kids do.
Avatar f tn I've been experiencing some really irritating short-term memory loss problems (for myself as well as other people). I am 35, female and trying to figure out why and how I can improve this. Ther are a few things I have considered...I was in an auto accident last year. I was t-boned and the driver side airbag went off and pretty much saved my life.
Avatar m tn My parents never even had the decency to have a death bed confession as to their actions and how they harmed their 4 children (who all had terrible problems starting with young adulthood). If i ever tried to get my mom to talk, she would actually take her fist and beat her own face, saying you want me to take the blame (for how her kids lives all went off track). She was sick. Your mother is sick. Some get well if they have the courage to admit their own limitations.
Avatar n tn Some patients may have problems in mixing up words for objects or can have trouble understanding or taking part in a conversation. Prevention in what concerns memory loss is whatsoever limited. Sudden memory loss cannot be prevented but patients who experience the symptoms of memory loss due to aging may keep their brain cells healthy and active with different exercises and dietary supplements.
Avatar f tn My overall question: Are young adults with ADHD also immature compared to their peers? I have read about kids being a few years behind in maturity, but not really about young adults or even older adults. I am 23 and was diagnosed with ADHD at 19 after going to a large university away from home and not being able to handle the freedom of time, class demands, partying, etc. I have graduated now after changing my major a zillion times and still have no idea what I want to do.
Avatar m tn But now Im starting to notice a decline in my mental quickness, some brain fog, and some memory problems, as well as tracers in my vision. I did have a rash on the soles of my feet and between my fingers which my doctor wrote off as being a fungal infection(athletes foot). Could a doctor simply give me an shot of penicillin without a diagnosis?
Avatar m tn Studies suggest that 50-80% of all boys presenting with adrenal failure will have underlying ABCD1 mutations on testing and 10-35% of adolescent/young adult men. A minority of patients have isolated adrenal problems and never develop neurological disease. Early detection of adrenal presentations allows boys to be screened prospectively for brain changes by serial MRI scanning, allowing early intervention with haemopoietic stem cell transplantation or gene therapy.
Avatar f tn ve never told anyone this before and it has never been mentioned by the people involved, but I have been thinking about it for years and wondering if it was normal...
Avatar n tn He is making progress physically and talking more, but has short term memory problems, some confusion, and mixes up words. From my understanding, these things can be common after a stroke and can improve with time, even if it takes a long time. I'm not willing to write my dad off, and I see so much hope and potential. He is only 73, looks young, is in good health physically apart from the stroke. Is there more rehabilitation he can or should be doing?
Avatar m tn It sounds like you may be having some work problems. That can cause stress and the memory problems too.
Avatar f tn I have the exact problem. I have ADHD. I dont remember a lot before the age of 13, from then I had to mostly relearn everything I had learned in my younger years. Now I find it hard to remember anything I read, listen to, or try and study. I feel lost and confused since I am only 19 with this type of problem.
676143 tn?1312941771 So does anyone else have problems with memory lately? I feel like the baby is sucking my brain away. I keep forgetting so many little things. Luckily, it hasn't gotten me in to too much trouble yet - but one of these days I am going to forget something really important!
Avatar f tn I have FM for over 12 years now, I've read numerous books, I belong to the National Fibromyalgia Network, The Fibromyalgia Association, and follow the latest research on many aspects of FM. These include, medical and pharmaceutical research. There is NO evidence that people with FM have brains that age faster. There is a neurological aspect to FM that can affect our brains. Our neurotransmitters may not be firing right to put it simply.
Avatar f tn Not that I would wish any one on this post, especially you Dave, to have memory problems, but at least I feel more assured that it is normal. Thanks for responding.
Avatar m tn And I feel like I have forgotten everything I spent the past 3-4 years paying to learn ! I was an honours student in undergrad and never had memory problems before. I am also having huge problems concentrating on what people are saying to me. It's like I am not listening no matter how hard I try to listen my brain wanders off into zombie land. And I am only 29. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to regain one's memory and concentration ?
