Avatar f tn I have FM for over 12 years now, I've read numerous books, I belong to the National Fibromyalgia Network, The Fibromyalgia Association, and follow the latest research on many aspects of FM. These include, medical and pharmaceutical research. There is NO evidence that people with FM have brains that age faster. There is a neurological aspect to FM that can affect our brains. Our neurotransmitters may not be firing right to put it simply.
Avatar n tn Can older people get mono? I recently tested positive to a monospot test. I am 55years old and never heard of anyone in my age group getting mono. I thought it was the "kissing disease" which sure leaves me out!!! This discussion is related to <a href='/posts/show/228024'>Mononucleosis -</a>.
401554 tn?1270213756 I raise my hand. But I really can't blame the depression/anxiety for it. Maybe age?? 51? But, yes, this disorder has been well known for that. The medication's are also known for that also. I'm serious when I say, I cant remember 5 min. ago at times. I just recently attended a big family affair, family asking " do you remember this or that , things that happened 20 year's ago. and as you say it's fragmented. And these people are 15 to 20 years older than me.
804276 tn?1480858056 i am 37, i have adhd, bipolar disorder, and anxiety issues. i have had really bad memory problems for most of my life and was wondering if my conditions could cause this. i have points in my life, many, that i just don't remember at all and they aren't bad situations. everything from what i ate yesterday to a family member coming to visit from out of town, years ago, but i don't remember it ever happening.
1260255 tn?1288654564 I've read people mentioning memory problems, but have not seen one type of memory problem discussed. Do any of you have problems where your memory does not store information? There are numerous occasions when I have absolutely no recall of conversations. This happened several weeks ago when my son called me at work. He told me that the grill was corroded at the bottom. I have no recall of this whatsoever, but his girlfriend was sitting next to him and vouches for him.
Avatar m tn And I feel like I have forgotten everything I spent the past 3-4 years paying to learn ! I was an honours student in undergrad and never had memory problems before. I am also having huge problems concentrating on what people are saying to me. It's like I am not listening no matter how hard I try to listen my brain wanders off into zombie land. And I am only 29. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to regain one's memory and concentration ?
Avatar m tn I understand that use of Heart Lung machine causes memory problems. Is it likely to be worse for someone having Autism ? He was having difficulty coping up with school and only recently showing signs of significant improvement (thanks to our excellent school system).
Avatar f tn Yes I have memory issues and I am missing things people are saying often. My intellectual abilities whatever they were before seem quite diminished. If I could help myself I might stop talking and posting until this is over, but I seem to need to participate even though I sometimes make a fool of myself. My doctor said that it was good that I was still asking questions of him because it means the meds are not destroying my brain function! LOL reassuring huh!
506791 tn?1439842983 Victoria. What a precious moment you captured. I just went back and refreshed my memory of April Dancer through your photos. I love how you give a little history lesson on all your kitties right down to the dates.
1339419 tn?1275966042 Is this a direct side effect of high blood pressure, others with hypertension having suggested it effects their short term memory, or is it confined only to myself because of my memory problems? This is a very important question I need answered for a number of different reasons.
1985196 tn?1402190098 Hi , just wondering if other people with Bi Polar have trouble with their memory ? , especially short term i can hardly remember what i did the day before , and sometimes even a few hour's , or could it be the med's destroying my brain cells ? I guess i'm a little concerned with a few thing's like could the med's be causing damage to my liver and kidney's as well , i'm freaking out , and it's making me more paranoid then i already am .
568456 tn?1222036062 t believe they understand fully how ECT works but for some people it does work including one person I know who it saved from a suicidal depresion. However, for some people it can have long term effects including long term memory loss (short term memory loss is a given). That's why trans cranial magnetic stimulation is now being used as an FDA approved option that has a safer long term side effect profile.
1399170 tn?1333845258 Hi, My name is Mike, and I'm 15 years old. For the past few years I have been experiencing memory problems. I don't forget serious things like names, just small things like homework, things I've said a few days before, even things I ate on the same day sometimes.
414131 tn?1202530891 I am experiencing various problems mostly with memory. I am 49 and was diagnosed a year ago with diabetes. My A1C was 6.5. I was very tired. I could fall asleep at the drop of a hat. All I had to do is sit down and start to relax. My brain was not working so well either. My memory was becoming almost a thing of the past. I was having what I call random access bad sectors. It would strike randomly and I never knew if I would recover what I just forgot.
Avatar f tn However, given the brief events you mention, it sounds like you may be depressed. That is, often people with depression first complain of memory problems, often from merely apathy and a lack of attention. In older populations it's important to differentiate depression and it's associated memory difficulty from dementia (e.g. Alzheimer's).
Avatar f tn It's not uncommon so please don't feel you are alone. I do things all the time to keep my mind going. Often times and I went though this and go through periods where I don't feel up to do much at all. I felt my fibro fog was getting worse. My daughter commented that I was always so curious, reading and wanting to learn. I had to start stimulating myself again. I love to read, I always try to keep 1-3 books going.
Avatar m tn It sounds like you may be having some work problems. That can cause stress and the memory problems too.
Avatar f tn I have the exact problem. I have ADHD. I dont remember a lot before the age of 13, from then I had to mostly relearn everything I had learned in my younger years. Now I find it hard to remember anything I read, listen to, or try and study. I feel lost and confused since I am only 19 with this type of problem.
Avatar n tn One is if you have hypothyroid or Hashimoto's disease, which both mean your thyroid gland is not producing enough hormone, and thus you can get that collection of problems. So, visiting an endocrinologist and getting your thyroid tested is how to find out if it's your thyroid doing all this to you. Two is if you are taking some sort of medication that is giving you these as side effects, so you would review any drug you're on and see if you need to have it changed.
676143 tn?1312941771 So does anyone else have problems with memory lately? I feel like the baby is sucking my brain away. I keep forgetting so many little things. Luckily, it hasn't gotten me in to too much trouble yet - but one of these days I am going to forget something really important!
Avatar f tn Hello, I am wondering if anybody has a suggestion of medications or anything that works to help with memory problems associated with SCT that will not cause more memory problems or possible brain damage with long term use?
Avatar n tn I am a 33 year old mother of three and my memory is getting worse. I used to attribute it to being so busy but it's become more short term as I get older. I'm forgetting words when I have conversations with people, names of streets that I've always known before. I'll walk in a room specifically for an item and once in the room, I forget why I was there.
Avatar m tn No, not at all. It is normal for all people to have memory "burps" now and then, or when older we call it "senior moments," and that doesn't automatically mean Alzheimer's is approaching. You sound like me, where it seems like the walk you just took seems like a long time ago, and so you're not sure where the heck you came from. I live in pain, daily for years, because of a tore-up back from a car wreck.
1823499 tn?1370090289 ive had the memory problems before my surgery actually as long as i can remember-lol-, but they were nowhere close to how bad they are now..
Avatar n tn This is a question on someone being sexually molested so she says but she has a lot of mental health issues now they are saying its a suppressed memory but we know for sure people have told her things that are not true and she actually believes it now and is accussing someone of something bad and which could be damaging to another person how is one to defend themselfs against suppressed memorys i know there are guys in prison and its been proven who were accused of something but thanks to dna h
