Avatar f tn Yes!!!! I first realised i was in trouble when i couldn't name my husband and kids, my mind was blank, simply gone but i knew exactly who they were and could of described their individual personalities, everything about them to minute detail, with out a problem at all. Just their names wiped out of my memory bank, I'd had years of forgetting peoples names, people i known for years and couldn't easily find excuses for but like everything else I still found a way to excuse it all.
Avatar f tn I have FM for over 12 years now, I've read numerous books, I belong to the National Fibromyalgia Network, The Fibromyalgia Association, and follow the latest research on many aspects of FM. These include, medical and pharmaceutical research. There is NO evidence that people with FM have brains that age faster. There is a neurological aspect to FM that can affect our brains. Our neurotransmitters may not be firing right to put it simply.
Avatar n tn I find when I am completely stressed out I experience memory problems. I have trouble remembering peoples names and just can't find the right words to use. My mind just goes blank and even if I try to focus and concentrate it may take me several attempts to recall and find the right words I'm trying to remember. When I'm not under a lot of stress, my memory is better. I am bipolar and am on medication.

Avatar f tn The most common problems are memory, especially word recall and things like name recall, problems with executive function like rapid-decision making, multitasking, and slowness of analytical thinking. We don't actually lose IQ points, but we process MUCH slower. This kind of problem is associated with the gray matter lesions that we all have. Your neuro should be referring you for neuropsych testing to see exactly where your cognitive strengths and deficits are.
Avatar f tn Hi, I don't have MS as I see this is a forum for MS sufferers. But I've been desperately trying to find a forum with people with similar symptoms to myself and this is what came up. For the past few months, I've been 'losing words', forgetting names of people I've known for years, or favourite actors etc. Today I wrote on my facebook "Good get used to a 3 day week" instead of "Could get used to a 3 day week".
Avatar m tn 25 mcg of synthroid. Since I have started taking it, I have had memory problems that I did not have before I went on it. I forget names and and words.
Avatar m tn And I feel like I have forgotten everything I spent the past 3-4 years paying to learn ! I was an honours student in undergrad and never had memory problems before. I am also having huge problems concentrating on what people are saying to me. It's like I am not listening no matter how hard I try to listen my brain wanders off into zombie land. And I am only 29. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to regain one's memory and concentration ?
Avatar n tn I am only 23 and my memory is getting worse everyday. I recently started forgetting people's names (even those close to me), forgetting how old I am, what day of the week it is, and getting toung tied mid sentance over a simple words I say everyday, I haven't seen a doctor about this but I'm getting very worried. Avatar n tn For about a month now I've been having some strange eye symptoms. It started with some pretty sharp pain behind the right eye. This pain lasted for 3 days. The pain subsided for a couple days and then I started getting pain behind both eyes. From then on I've been getting headaches. Some other symptoms that have occured are: double-vision (only when I look down), blurred vision, a bit of dizziness and balance issues.
1260255 tn?1288654564 I've read people mentioning memory problems, but have not seen one type of memory problem discussed. Do any of you have problems where your memory does not store information? There are numerous occasions when I have absolutely no recall of conversations. This happened several weeks ago when my son called me at work. He told me that the grill was corroded at the bottom. I have no recall of this whatsoever, but his girlfriend was sitting next to him and vouches for him.
1260255 tn?1288654564 What concerns me is that I have experienced some memory problems that I consider very abnormal. There have been conversations that are completely out of my recall. It's as if the conversations/events never got stored in my brain. No discussion with others involved can help trigger recall. The scary part of this is that I am not aware of the memory malfunction until a subsequent event makes it important and I realize that I remember nothing. this has happened both at work and at home.
1399170 tn?1333845258 Hi, My name is Mike, and I'm 15 years old. For the past few years I have been experiencing memory problems. I don't forget serious things like names, just small things like homework, things I've said a few days before, even things I ate on the same day sometimes.
Avatar f tn There are memory problems associated with an open heart surgery (patient is on a mechanical pump for the period of the operation). It is possible there is some memory problem with a heart attack as for a brief period of time during the heart attack there is insufficient cardiac output, and the deficit of blood/oxygen supply that caused the heart attack could effect the brain as well for lack of oxygen. Meds can also be a factor.
414131 tn?1202530891 I am experiencing various problems mostly with memory. I am 49 and was diagnosed a year ago with diabetes. My A1C was 6.5. I was very tired. I could fall asleep at the drop of a hat. All I had to do is sit down and start to relax. My brain was not working so well either. My memory was becoming almost a thing of the past. I was having what I call random access bad sectors. It would strike randomly and I never knew if I would recover what I just forgot.
Avatar m tn Over the past year or so, I am having difficulty recalling words. Usually names of specific things (nouns), which I never really had much difficulty with. I also get slight double vision when reading too small of text (or at a computer monitor). Don’t know if related, but wanted to point that out jic. Goes away when focusing and squinting. For all I know, this is a minor defect many people have, but wanted the consensus here. Does any of this sound even halfway ok?
Avatar n tn I am a 33 year old mother of three and my memory is getting worse. I used to attribute it to being so busy but it's become more short term as I get older. I'm forgetting words when I have conversations with people, names of streets that I've always known before. I'll walk in a room specifically for an item and once in the room, I forget why I was there.
Avatar m tn Military soldiers are under attack by so many conditions acquired by performing their job. Here is some information you may be able to use before checking-in at a military hospital. Avatar n tn I have problems remembering a lot of things. Names of relatives or friends. Things I did in the past. My children (grown) will talk about things that I was a part of and I draw a complete blank. I forget word terms, even the name of some things. It seems like bad memories are imbeded in my brain though. I remember most all of that, in detail. Yet I can watch two movies and can't remember what they were. It takes me a while. So, believe me you are not alone.
Avatar f tn Stress can make it hard to focus on things, and it can lead to memory problems, too, especially if you are sleep deprived. Hormones problems, like during perimenopause, can bring these symptoms on, too. Have you seen your doctor lately? Are you on medication for the migraines? (If yes, it could be that the medication or medications are having side effects.
Avatar f tn s I have been on Effexor XR at 225/mg and Lamictal 300/mg a day for several years to treat bi-polar. I have been having problems with cognition, memory and concentration for many years and it seems to be getting worse. I have problems finding the right words, for example, I'll name 4 or 5 males names in my family before I say the right one, or i'll say glass instead of window.
765802 tn?1263300851 I always had this one problem for years that is remembering peoples names. But most recently I am having problems with other things that I never had before remembering. I make up excuses with people around me so they won't know. I have to fig out a different doctor to see. My doctor is ok if you got the flu but not anything else. He isn't thorough.
Avatar n tn What I want to know is if a neck injury like this could be the cause of memory problems I am experiencing. The memory problems seemed to begin around the same time as my injury. I'll forget things like common names, what I'm talking about, events within the past few years. I use to do well at public speaking, now, I forget what I'm trying to say. I take good care of myself. I eat right and exercise. I don't drink, smoke or use medications on a regular basis.
Avatar f tn Not that I would wish any one on this post, especially you Dave, to have memory problems, but at least I feel more assured that it is normal. Thanks for responding.
Avatar n tn m 35, I used to have a vivid photogenic memory, but within the last 4 years my memory has regressed severely it is at a point now that I will go shopping for the same things a few times a week because I forgot that I did it already, I can do something and within 5 minutes have already forgotten, or I could be in the middle of a conversation and I completely forget what we are talking about (this also happens a lot) I have lost long term memory as well, like names of my best friends growing up,
