Avatar m tn And I feel like I have forgotten everything I spent the past 3-4 years paying to learn ! I was an honours student in undergrad and never had memory problems before. I am also having huge problems concentrating on what people are saying to me. It's like I am not listening no matter how hard I try to listen my brain wanders off into zombie land. And I am only 29. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to regain one's memory and concentration ?
1260255 tn?1288654564 I've read people mentioning memory problems, but have not seen one type of memory problem discussed. Do any of you have problems where your memory does not store information? There are numerous occasions when I have absolutely no recall of conversations. This happened several weeks ago when my son called me at work. He told me that the grill was corroded at the bottom. I have no recall of this whatsoever, but his girlfriend was sitting next to him and vouches for him.
1399170 tn?1333845258 Hi, My name is Mike, and I'm 15 years old. For the past few years I have been experiencing memory problems. I don't forget serious things like names, just small things like homework, things I've said a few days before, even things I ate on the same day sometimes.
Avatar f tn Yes!!!! I first realised i was in trouble when i couldn't name my husband and kids, my mind was blank, simply gone but i knew exactly who they were and could of described their individual personalities, everything about them to minute detail, with out a problem at all. Just their names wiped out of my memory bank, I'd had years of forgetting peoples names, people i known for years and couldn't easily find excuses for but like everything else I still found a way to excuse it all.
Avatar f tn There are memory problems associated with an open heart surgery (patient is on a mechanical pump for the period of the operation). It is possible there is some memory problem with a heart attack as for a brief period of time during the heart attack there is insufficient cardiac output, and the deficit of blood/oxygen supply that caused the heart attack could effect the brain as well for lack of oxygen. Meds can also be a factor.
765802 tn?1263300851 I always had this one problem for years that is remembering peoples names. But most recently I am having problems with other things that I never had before remembering. I make up excuses with people around me so they won't know. I have to fig out a different doctor to see. My doctor is ok if you got the flu but not anything else. He isn't thorough.
Avatar n tn What I want to know is if a neck injury like this could be the cause of memory problems I am experiencing. The memory problems seemed to begin around the same time as my injury. I'll forget things like common names, what I'm talking about, events within the past few years. I use to do well at public speaking, now, I forget what I'm trying to say. I take good care of myself. I eat right and exercise. I don't drink, smoke or use medications on a regular basis.
1260255 tn?1288654564 What concerns me is that I have experienced some memory problems that I consider very abnormal. There have been conversations that are completely out of my recall. It's as if the conversations/events never got stored in my brain. No discussion with others involved can help trigger recall. The scary part of this is that I am not aware of the memory malfunction until a subsequent event makes it important and I realize that I remember nothing. this has happened both at work and at home.
Avatar f tn I've been experiencing some really irritating short-term memory loss problems (for myself as well as other people). I am 35, female and trying to figure out why and how I can improve this. Ther are a few things I have considered...I was in an auto accident last year. I was t-boned and the driver side airbag went off and pretty much saved my life.
Avatar n tn I am a year and half post tx and I am experiencing memory loss, processing information (use to have a wonderful sense of direction) and just not myself. I have a very hectic job and I feel there are times I cannot keep up--and yes my confidence has diminished...anyone out there feel the same way...???
Avatar f tn The most common problems are memory, especially word recall and things like name recall, problems with executive function like rapid-decision making, multitasking, and slowness of analytical thinking. We don't actually lose IQ points, but we process MUCH slower. This kind of problem is associated with the gray matter lesions that we all have. Your neuro should be referring you for neuropsych testing to see exactly where your cognitive strengths and deficits are.
Avatar n tn However, when I treated for 48 weeks with Interferon, Ribavirin, and incivek, I had true memory problems. I had concentration problems too, but I had memory problems that has nothing to do with concentration. I could not remember 1 minute after I took ,my pills if I had taken them or not (luckily I had a pill organizer. I never could remember if I closed the garage door. I always had to turn around and go back and check, sometimes twice or 3 times, LOL. I forgot my phone number.
Avatar n tn I have problems remembering a lot of things. Names of relatives or friends. Things I did in the past. My children (grown) will talk about things that I was a part of and I draw a complete blank. I forget word terms, even the name of some things. It seems like bad memories are imbeded in my brain though. I remember most all of that, in detail. Yet I can watch two movies and can't remember what they were. It takes me a while. So, believe me you are not alone.
Avatar m tn It sounds like you may be having some work problems. That can cause stress and the memory problems too.
Avatar f tn I have the exact problem. I have ADHD. I dont remember a lot before the age of 13, from then I had to mostly relearn everything I had learned in my younger years. Now I find it hard to remember anything I read, listen to, or try and study. I feel lost and confused since I am only 19 with this type of problem.
Avatar n tn One is if you have hypothyroid or Hashimoto's disease, which both mean your thyroid gland is not producing enough hormone, and thus you can get that collection of problems. So, visiting an endocrinologist and getting your thyroid tested is how to find out if it's your thyroid doing all this to you. Two is if you are taking some sort of medication that is giving you these as side effects, so you would review any drug you're on and see if you need to have it changed.
676143 tn?1312941771 So does anyone else have problems with memory lately? I feel like the baby is sucking my brain away. I keep forgetting so many little things. Luckily, it hasn't gotten me in to too much trouble yet - but one of these days I am going to forget something really important!
Avatar f tn I have FM for over 12 years now, I've read numerous books, I belong to the National Fibromyalgia Network, The Fibromyalgia Association, and follow the latest research on many aspects of FM. These include, medical and pharmaceutical research. There is NO evidence that people with FM have brains that age faster. There is a neurological aspect to FM that can affect our brains. Our neurotransmitters may not be firing right to put it simply.
Avatar f tn Not that I would wish any one on this post, especially you Dave, to have memory problems, but at least I feel more assured that it is normal. Thanks for responding.
Avatar m tn 25 mcg of synthroid. Since I have started taking it, I have had memory problems that I did not have before I went on it. I forget names and and words.
