Memory problems concentration

Common Questions and Answers about Memory problems concentration

memory

648720 tn?1227637088 It is due to my meds as well as my secondary diagnosis of anxiety. Anxiety in and of itself can cause concentration problems because of the way it effects the brain; it actually blocks your short term memory from picking up signals. It cannot be fixed with more meds, but you might notice some alleviation when you stop certain meds. You have to ask yourself which is the lesser of two evils. I decided memory loss and inability to concentrate are the lesser of my problems.
Avatar n tn Why at the age of 41 do I have problems concentrating and even sometimes understanding my childrens homework. I get very testy and my patients gets very thin. Avatar m tn And I feel like I have forgotten everything I spent the past 3-4 years paying to learn ! I was an honours student in undergrad and never had memory problems before. I am also having huge problems concentrating on what people are saying to me. It's like I am not listening no matter how hard I try to listen my brain wanders off into zombie land. And I am only 29. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to regain one's memory and concentration ?
Avatar n tn I am 37 years old. I am experiencing lots of stress in my marriage about whether I should stay in a marriage or not due to mistrust, other than that I just graduated college and am about to start a new career but I am experiencing severe "forgetfulness or concentration problems." I lost some critically important documents today, two of them, simply because I just did not pick them up and put them away after using them and I seem to be that way about everything I touch.
Avatar n tn However, when I treated for 48 weeks with Interferon, Ribavirin, and incivek, I had true memory problems. I had concentration problems too, but I had memory problems that has nothing to do with concentration. I could not remember 1 minute after I took ,my pills if I had taken them or not (luckily I had a pill organizer. I never could remember if I closed the garage door. I always had to turn around and go back and check, sometimes twice or 3 times, LOL. I forgot my phone number.
Avatar n tn I was taking this medication last August and still have the memory and concentration problems as of now. The problems have not gone away much, I would say only 50% better and it is still bad. I went to an Emory psychiatrist but they have just put me on Seroquel as of yesterday. I have stopped taking that today and while I was on it I felt very numb and could not feel emotions and I was very drowsy.
Avatar n tn I was hoping for any success stories with memory/concentration problems being improved with celexa. I am now on 40mg a day (20mg for about month, now 40 for about 2weeks) i was wondering when i can expect to really notice a difference, so i can decide if it is working well enough or i should try something else. Thanks!
Avatar f tn I think most- if not all- of us with this have memory issues. Especially short term memory. And concentration. These are just the unfortunate symptoms of this condition. I have asked for meds to help- thinking ADHD med might help with concentration, but my NS said that it's not the same, and the ADHD meds won't work. Unless you have ADHD. Stay strong, and hopefully someone here can help you find a good doc. GL to you!!
1842804 tn?1319756311 s a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor, nonstimulant) and it does not help a great deal with fatigue, but it fixed my concentration/reading problem. The source of my attention/concentration problems is actually a low-level chronic dizziness of unknown cause. Not MS, presumably. But I do have highly abnormal brainstem evoked potentials, and I can't help but think that's related to my concentration/attention problem (solved by Strattera!
2192208 tn?1346525832 It is worth taking to see if it can improve memory and concentration in those suffering with memory problems. Not all results are positive, however. It seems that it might not be very effective for improving memory in people who don't have memory problems.
Avatar n tn It is difficult to tell if these symptoms are due to neurological disorder like Presenile dementia which cause loss of memory and concentration, decreased judgement, misplacing things, mood swings, confusion and loss of confidence. http://www.jobaccess.gov.au/JOAC/Advice/DisabilityOne/Early_onset_dementia.htm I would suggest you to contact your family doctor about it. Do keep us posted!

Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism a year ago and since then my memory and concentration has drastically went down. The medication (methimazole) is helping my thyroidism but doesn't seem to be doing anything to restrore my memory and concentration. I used to study for an exam and be able to memorize 3 to 4 pages word for word in an hour. Now I can't even focus long enough to study for an hour because my attention span is gone.
Avatar m tn I've been having trouble concentrating and thinking through things. It is only until recently that it has become a major problem. I've always been known to have a very good memory accompanied with my ability to think concisely. I've always made straight A's in school and I am now in my second year of college. Although, as this new semester has kicked off, I've been really noticing lack of concentration. I am having trouble reading and comprehending what I read.
Avatar f tn There is void signal in the caroid and vertebrobasilar systems. I dont understand what the white masses are. Do they effect your memory? My memory has been getting terrible lately. I cant remember where I put things, What someone just told me. What I am suppose to be doing. Sometimes I get completely confused on where I am even going. It has been getting really bad lately. I dont want to be around people, I cant hardly keep a steady conversation because of it.
511034 tn?1327802985 I believe that depression itself will cause memory problems, along with concentration and decision making. You also take meds that the higher the dose the worse the side effects are. Check those with WEBMD or othe online help, or talk with your pharmacist. Some of it can't be helped but it wouldn't hurt to take vitamin B12 everyday, like 1 tablet 500 mcg. with supper. Also B complex is good for depression.
3156526 tn?1343519974 Low thyroid function can cause fatigue, weight gain, cold intolerance, constipation, and memory/concentration problems. You should have your thyroid levels checked to ensure that you are being adequately treated. Another possibility is anemia, which can cause severe fatigue and thinking trouble. In addition, other causes include certain vitamin deficiencies. These can all be diagnosed with simple blood tests.
Avatar m tn Hi, Thank you very much for your question; although it is quite difficult for me to give you a precise diagnosis here without being able to examine you, though I would try to provide you some relevant information about your health concern. You need a proper assessment and investigation here since there can be many causes for memory loss & concentration impairment.
Avatar m tn t describe feeling depressed, you describe having memory and concentration problems, which can be due to lots of things. And yes, drugs can have this side effect in people who didn't have it before. And yes, assuming you actually are depressed, it might not be the med for you -- only time will tell that, but if you're not suffering depression but something else it isn't going to do anything for you except give you side effects.
