1260255 tn?1288654564 I've read people mentioning memory problems, but have not seen one type of memory problem discussed. Do any of you have problems where your memory does not store information? There are numerous occasions when I have absolutely no recall of conversations. This happened several weeks ago when my son called me at work. He told me that the grill was corroded at the bottom. I have no recall of this whatsoever, but his girlfriend was sitting next to him and vouches for him.
Avatar m tn It sounds like you may be having some work problems. That can cause stress and the memory problems too.
Avatar f tn I have the exact problem. I have ADHD. I dont remember a lot before the age of 13, from then I had to mostly relearn everything I had learned in my younger years. Now I find it hard to remember anything I read, listen to, or try and study. I feel lost and confused since I am only 19 with this type of problem.
Avatar n tn One is if you have hypothyroid or Hashimoto's disease, which both mean your thyroid gland is not producing enough hormone, and thus you can get that collection of problems. So, visiting an endocrinologist and getting your thyroid tested is how to find out if it's your thyroid doing all this to you. Two is if you are taking some sort of medication that is giving you these as side effects, so you would review any drug you're on and see if you need to have it changed.
676143 tn?1312941771 So does anyone else have problems with memory lately? I feel like the baby is sucking my brain away. I keep forgetting so many little things. Luckily, it hasn't gotten me in to too much trouble yet - but one of these days I am going to forget something really important!
Avatar f tn I have FM for over 12 years now, I've read numerous books, I belong to the National Fibromyalgia Network, The Fibromyalgia Association, and follow the latest research on many aspects of FM. These include, medical and pharmaceutical research. There is NO evidence that people with FM have brains that age faster. There is a neurological aspect to FM that can affect our brains. Our neurotransmitters may not be firing right to put it simply.
Avatar f tn Not that I would wish any one on this post, especially you Dave, to have memory problems, but at least I feel more assured that it is normal. Thanks for responding.
Avatar m tn And I feel like I have forgotten everything I spent the past 3-4 years paying to learn ! I was an honours student in undergrad and never had memory problems before. I am also having huge problems concentrating on what people are saying to me. It's like I am not listening no matter how hard I try to listen my brain wanders off into zombie land. And I am only 29. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to regain one's memory and concentration ?
Avatar f tn There is void signal in the caroid and vertebrobasilar systems. I dont understand what the white masses are. Do they effect your memory? My memory has been getting terrible lately. I cant remember where I put things, What someone just told me. What I am suppose to be doing. Sometimes I get completely confused on where I am even going. It has been getting really bad lately. I dont want to be around people, I cant hardly keep a steady conversation because of it.
Avatar n tn No i am not asking for legal advise i am curious as this is an older girl who has had a lot of emotional issues but its being pushed that its a surpressed memory she was in her teens and now in her twentys so i am curious if there is no defense against it how do we know its true i am trying to understand how this came up and what can be done for it and what help can she get to help herself is everyone suppose to just let things go and it gets worse or what can be done/
Avatar n tn This behavior is not particularly uncommon in children of that age. Working memory is the skill that is required to recall and follow directions. If a child has certain conditions, such as Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, working memory is often impaired. When you give him directions, be sure he is next to you and that you establish eye contact. Then, have him repeat the directions before he proceeds to execute them.
Avatar f tn Sounds like pretty typical child behavior. They have a lot of stuff going on in their little lives, they get really excited about things, and it's hard for them to pay attention. If he's really getting rambunctious, you have to take his hands and look him in the eyes and tell him firmly a couple times what you want. If he's misbehaving and doesn't shut up, that's what little "time outs" are for, children are learning their boundaries and limitations at that age.
Avatar n tn There is growing and convincing evidence that this program is effective for in enhancing working memory ability, one of the abilities that is ofetn problematic in children with ADHD. One of the things that makes the Cogmed Working Memory Training distinctive is the activity of the coach who assists with the training. The person who undergoes the five-week program does so at home with a computer.
414131 tn?1202530891 I am experiencing various problems mostly with memory. I am 49 and was diagnosed a year ago with diabetes. My A1C was 6.5. I was very tired. I could fall asleep at the drop of a hat. All I had to do is sit down and start to relax. My brain was not working so well either. My memory was becoming almost a thing of the past. I was having what I call random access bad sectors. It would strike randomly and I never knew if I would recover what I just forgot.
804276 tn?1480858056 i have had really bad memory problems for most of my life and was wondering if my conditions could cause this. i have points in my life, many, that i just don't remember at all and they aren't bad situations. everything from what i ate yesterday to a family member coming to visit from out of town, years ago, but i don't remember it ever happening. i'm so afraid of alzheimers when i get older but i don't think my memory problems fits alzheimers.
1399170 tn?1333845258 Hi, My name is Mike, and I'm 15 years old. For the past few years I have been experiencing memory problems. I don't forget serious things like names, just small things like homework, things I've said a few days before, even things I ate on the same day sometimes.
963268 tn?1312900315 I have mobility problems, and I've had cognitive problems - of the two, I'd much rather have problems with mobility. Although it makes things tough sometimes!
Avatar m tn Memory problems and/or "brain fog" are a very common symptom of hypo. However, as you mention, other scripts, etc. can also be to blame. If you'd post your most recent FT3, FT4 and TSH with reference ranges (ranges vary lab to lab and have to come from your own lab report), we can take a look and see if you look like your meds are well adjusted for you. Do you have other hypo symptoms as well? What thyroid meds do you take and dose? What other meds are you taking?
Avatar f tn They failed to work. Ever since I have had memory problems. I was told this would get better after six or seven months. I am really worried about this and embarassed. My children ask me if I remember certain events and I can't remember some of them at all. I also have bad balance. I have to hold on to stair railings and I trip alot. I should add that I quit snorting speed six months ago. My question is: could my memory loss be attributable to ECT or my drug abuse or both?
Avatar f tn Ok so I am only 9 weeks along and have lost 4 lbs. but my belly is starting to poke out and I'm freakin out! My friend says since this is my third baby I am starting to show early because of muscle memory?! Anyone else heard of that? I'm used to not showing until like 21 weeks and not looking forward to buying maternity clothes this soon. Maybe I'm just really bloated?
10907499 tn?1413739044 I had a tumor removed from my right temporal lobe and cavernous sinus along with the dead brain tissue that it caused. The ordeal left me with short term memory problems and pretty much every type of seizure there is. I suffered from depression, felt like a failure and had anxiety issues, and sometimes I still do. I don't know if it will ever stop completely but it does get better. Talk with your doctor about this and get put on a anti-depressant if need be.
Avatar f tn Sorry for the delay...I have been away and unable to use a computer. You are doing the right thing in seeking professional help. Your son's actions do sound like OCD and he is not too young for the symptoms to manifest themselves. My sister was repeatedly handwashing at age 7. The most important thing to do is make sure the OCD is treated. It is the OCD that leads to the anxiety.
Avatar n tn His social problems are typical of persons with his disorder and the best intervention is a social skills/social problem-solving group. His working memory and EF problems are typical of ADHD, so it is not surprising that he achieved some benefit from the psychostimulant. While there are many stimulant products available, when you boil it all down there are really only two choices: methylphenidate and dextroamphetamine.
Avatar m tn Cogmed Working Memory Training is a proven intervention for increasing working memory, an aspect of memory that typifies most children who display ADHD. When I say that it is a proven intervention, I mean that the program has been subjected to independent research investigations conducted by some of the leading universities in the United States and Europe. If you would like to examine the evidence yourself, please take a look at Cogmed.com.
