Avatar m tn My mother had her thyroid and a benign tumour removed about 6 months ago. She lives 3 hours away from me, so I have seen her a few times but only for short intervals and we regularly speak on the phone. Since her operation I have noticed she is always tired (also due to her heart medication) and that she has become more of a glass half empty type of person. Recently my father had a heart attack (serious but my Dad is a trooper and is now recovering after surgery).
5857909 tn?1375628784 Can these vitamin deficiencies cause me such episodes of so much dizziness and memory loss? I find it quite implausible, but I do not know. I have been taking Clomipramine 75mg and Clonazepam 0.5 mg for years for depression problems. In the last two episodes, they agreed that i had slept a few hours the night before. Will the medication I take have anything to do with it? Thank you very much.
5844567 tn?1378967719 memory loss, fatigue, speech, swelling, pain, vision, weight gain, numbness, hair falling out, etc for over 4 years that no doctor could figure out what was wrong with me & I finally asked for the actual vit D test.. My doctor perscribed a mega dose of gel vit D 50,000 ui daily for 2 weeks and since then I take 8,000 ui daily or I just can't function.
Avatar m tn I've had memory loss due to vitamin B12 malabsorption, hypothyroidism, and severe stress. Alzheimer's is also called Diabetes Type 3. A book you might want to read is called Brain Grain by David Perlmutter M.D.
Avatar n tn I am on effexor and am experiencing memory loss. I have been on it for years at 225 mg I am a practicing bulimic, recovered alcoholic, ex smoker and exercise regularly. I am 61 and eat right in the morning and day, but the evenings are always shot. my question is does antidepressive medicine cause memory loss?
Avatar f tn People suffering from hypothyroidism may have low levels of vitamin D due to poor absorption from the gut. Low levels of vitamin D have been linked to the development of autoimmune diseases. Vitamin D deficiency can also be correlated to the presence of anti-thyroid antibodies and abnormal thyroid function tests. Thus Vitamin D may play a role in pathogenesis if autoimmune thyroiditis and its supplementation may be needed. It is best to consult an endocrinologist. That might help. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Im doing an I-Search paper for my Honors English 3 class, and I would like to know a little about memory loss. If you could tell me how it occurs, some treatment options, how it affects the person, and the medical reason that it happens, (such as what happens in the brain to make it forget, other than a bump on the head) would really help me. Thank you.
Avatar n tn Yes i had issues with taking vitamin D. Any amount of vitamin D would of worsened my existing severe magnesium deficiency but i was taking 5000IU daily. Disaster!! After 6 months, not only were my "unexplained" symptoms (due to severe magnesium deficiency) even worse, my vitamin D levels were still deficient. One of my magnesium deficiency symptoms was heart rhythm problems. Magnesium is the most important co factor for vitamin D absorption.
Avatar n tn I would also get a new test for Vitamin D. I would also test for Vitamin B12 and ferritin and selenium. Low D, B12 and ferritin can cause symptoms that mimic hypothyroidism. Also D and ferritin are very important for metabolizing thyroid hormone. Ferritin and selenium are very important in the conversion of T4 to T3, which you seem to have a problem with.
Avatar n tn My husband has been on the treatment for almost seven months he has another five to go. Does the memory loss get better after the treatment has ended. What does anyone suggest he can do vitamin wise and food wise etc to feel better.
Avatar m tn The doctor told me to loose weight !!!!!!
5143317 tn?1383747820 I had my vitamin d tested about 2 months ago and my level was 36ng/l with a range of 30-100. I've been having crazy hypothyroid like symptoms for months. Weight gain, inability to lose weight, depression, mood swings, inability to control my emotions, low sex drive, dry skin, not sleeping good, etc. Could the low end vitamin D be causing the symptoms? I've had cortisol, various hormones and all thyroid tests, everything is normal.
Avatar m tn Hello, I was diagnosed with syringomyelia and severe and mod stenosis. I've been doing rather well considering that they told me I would be in a wheel chair by now. Anyway I wondered if anyone else with this diagnosis has had problems with memory? My Nurse practitioner said it's normal then my wife looked it up and couldn't find anything on it. The memory loss that is. Nor could I. Any one know or have information on this topic?
Avatar f tn Among the most important nutrients are calcium, magnesium, zinc, chromium, selenium, iodine, L-glutamine, L-taurine, choline, thiamine, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, other B-complex vitamins, omega-3 fatty acids, and vitamin D.
8969979 tn?1400905436 I could not imagine low vitamin d causing all those symptoms either. I think low vitamin d can cause some pain as it is needed to absorb calcium but I've not heard of low vitamin d itself causing loads of symptoms. It is important you take the vitamin d regularly to get those levels up because of the risk of developing Osteoporosis (loss of bone density or bone thinning).

Avatar n tn Vitamin D can assist in weight loss, but it is more effective in preventing bone loss and maintaining stable levels of feel-good hormones. Vitamin B-12 is better known for its metabolism-boosting qualities. Pure green tea is okay, but try steer clear from caffeine-infused weight-loss supplements as they tend to cause agitation and nervousness.
Avatar f tn Hi! I am in the process of having more tests done, but it seems my docs don't even know which direction to LOOK. I am a 35yr old female, w/ history of migraine w/ aura & several episodes of "complicated migraine". 2-3 months ago, I had an episode that they can only assume was a complicated migraine (MRI & EEGs were normal). The severity of the episode improved over 24-48hrs...
Avatar f tn I guess my fiance says I have memory loss since I was pregnant. Our daughter is a month now and I guess he says I see and hear things differently then how they happen or do things I don't know I did. He said it has been since I was pregnant not before. Has this happened to anyone?
Avatar m tn I would also get a regular check up on hormones like thyroid (a good check, not just TSH which is useless!) and basics like vitamin D, iron and all. Get copies. Endocrine disorders and even low D and B12 can cause a lot of symptoms. Do you take a multi-vitamin? Eat well? If you don't, it cannot hurt to go get a nice quality vitamin and some extra D3. B12 is not absorbed in the stomach so if you are low you may need a shot once in a while.
Avatar m tn ) but from MANY other causes from hypothyroidism to insulin resistance to vitamin D deficiency. The problem is finding the cause or causes but at the end of the symptoms and causes of serotonin deficiency is general info to help boost serotonin. When you reach a serious state of serotonin deficiency suicidal thoughts occur as I unfortunately know from experience.
