Avatar n tn Do you mean a physical trauma to someone that is recovering from a stroke? Or memory loss due to a stroke? Strokes can definitely cause memory loss. If trauma after a stroke, what kind? Trauma to the head? How long ago was the stroke? I know that the doctors and therapists were very worried about setbacks if my husband were to fall or hit his head by banging into something in the first few months after his stroke.
Avatar m tn in comparisson to short termmemory loss and how to overcome short term memory loss without using a pill but with FAITH IN INDEPENDANCE and organizing the electrical synapses that our brains use most frequently/ rely on the most frequently.... you might need to forget some of your most valuable memories to be able to regain your short term memory... But can someone share an inspiring story with me. Please.
Avatar n tn Please consult a neurologist for examination and treatment. Reorientation and emotional support for confused, delirious or people with memory loss may be helpful. Please arrange for a psychotherapist who may be helpful in engaging your son in intellectual activities that could help him in regaining some memory. Social activities, group discussions may be beneficial. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!

Avatar f tn My mother in law had her gallbladder removed and returned to work a week and a half later. Shortly after returning to work, she suffered memory loss. She would forget where she was, what day it was, her closet friends and family members. Her memory has gotten better. She also became depressed and constantly asks everyone what happened to her. She has diabetes( Type 2 I believe). We're trying to figure out what caused the memory loss the diabetes or the gallbladder removal.
Avatar n tn In 2007 he had a hip replacement done and ended up having 3 operations within one week because of complications. My question is could the buildup of medications etc cause him to now have memory loss, language skills loss and tremors in his right hand. 7002065 tn?1443073614 There are papers regarding experiments with PLX3397 to remove the CNS microglia population, and the results are strongly implicating that the loss of microglia is providing functional recovery of memory, cognitive abilities and extinguishing neuroinflammation (cytokine levels get dramatically altered) plus, the wiped out microglia cells repopulate the entire CNS within 7 days after drug withdrawal!
Avatar f tn Thanks for the correction, yes, indeed it is expected, even a memory loss for some as well as other mental disorders. My brother-in-law has had 2 open heart surgeries for an acute heart attack and based on his recovery is my basis and other than a back pain problems he was in good health. For individuals there are never hard/fast rules for any medical therapy, and too oftened that is not taken into consideration for a recovering patient.

Avatar m tn re in an alcohol/substance related group - memory loss can be associated with drinking. It can be associated with many other things, too - from different medications, mental or cognitive health conditions, and even sometimes stress. I think it is very important that you speak to a doctor who can survey your health & lifestyle profile to work with what is known - and other factors that may not be known.
