Avatar f tn Have you ladies had memory loss ever since you've gotten pregnant?
Avatar n tn I had a mitral valve replacement 5 years ago. I continue to have short-term memory loss, reduced reading comprehension, and difficulty processing information. It is extremely frustrating, trying to cope with this as a middle school teacher. Given my age (51), I'm not sure an alternative career is in the picture.I try to cope by always being prepared in advance (living for the post-it note); however, this is taking a toll in the form of 12-14 hour days and working weekends to "catch up.
Avatar m tn You dont tell your age, I think this happens a lot to anyone over 40 , I wouldnt say it means you have alzheimers at all, for a start certain meds can cause memory loss, even supplemnts have been known to ,other illness like some autoimmune diseases ,if you are concerned ask your Doctor what he thinks. there is a good website ,free, called lumosity google and you will find it, great mind games and exercises to help with memory .Good luck let us know how you are doing .

Avatar m tn Hi, Thank you very much for your question; although it is quite difficult for me to give you a precise diagnosis here without being able to examine you, though I would try to provide you some relevant information about your health concern. You need a proper assessment and investigation here since there can be many causes for memory loss & concentration impairment.

Avatar n tn About an hour later he suffered a brief episode (1-2 min) of short term memory loss. He could not remember the weekend holiday or do sums. Other than feeling cold he did not exhibit any physical symptoms. He had another episode about three weeks later. A neurologist examined him and found nothing but set up an EEG. He has had no other episodes. Any suggestions as to what to ask during/after the EEG or what the potential cause might be? Thank you.

Avatar m tn After she stopped taking the pain medication (oxicodine) she has memory loss. At first it was little things, but now she does not know what year it is, how old she is, or that she just had surgery. She does have some memory, like she knows who me and my sister are and what she does for work. Another symptom is that she says her body is soar, like she lifted a bunch of weights. We are looking for any type of input/advise. Her doctors have been doing every test and scan.

1339419 tn?1275966042 My short term memory is not 100% as it is, although it is not as bad as my long term memory, and when my blood pressure is really high ( 160/100+ ) I seem to have short term memory loss that increases with the increasing blood pressure numbers. Is this a direct side effect of high blood pressure, others with hypertension having suggested it effects their short term memory, or is it confined only to myself because of my memory problems?
Avatar m tn Puzzles and mental challenges have been shown to be somewhat protective against loss of mental function, however this has been studied in seniors, less so in people your age who should be at the peak of their cognitive functioning. So if you want to avoid doctors or medications, you may wish to look into ways of living healthy and compensating for your symptoms. Yoga and martial arts can be good ways to learn to focus your mind.
Avatar m tn I am a 46 year old male that has been experiencing some memory problems. Most people I know have memory problems so the question is what's normal. I can remember verbatim the last 30 to 50 words spoken on a television show or my locker combination from elementary school. But I can't remember where I set stuff down. I forget that I turned the tea kettle on or put a bag of popcorn in the microwave. I do remember it hits me, when I look for my tea.
562833 tn?1233756109 Does anyone or has anyone experienced memory loss over pain killers. I feel I am losing my mind half the time. I can't remember what I was about to do, or what I need to do. And where I put stuff, I am really starting to worry about this, along with all the other things, I am worried about. maybe this is just part of my OCD. I tend to worry about everything and keep stressing about it.
Avatar f tn Covulsions and epilepsy does run in my family but are all childhood cases and they grew out of it with age. When I was younger I had brilliant memory could know something off by heart within seconds of reading it, nowadays my short term memory is getting worse sometimes even forgetting conversations seconds ago or what happened over the last day. I know that when i was younger balls of colour would fill my vision instead of getting the blackouts but as I got older they got worse.
Avatar m tn Most of the people do not remember names because they do not stress on remembering them. Although you are in age of 60s and most common memory problems come with this elderly age as an Alzheimer’s disease, it is essential other possibilities of memory loss like hormonal imbalance, stress/depression, and vitamin deficiency need to be evaluated thoroughly. In this disease, normal day to day activities have been affected more than memory loss.
662374 tn?1224986757 I think it depends on a few things, your age for one. Are you on other meds besides those given for BP? I find my memory isn't as good, and my pdoc said it's rare but can happen. I try to take Omega 3's, that's supposed to help with brain function, and if your diet isn't optimal. You might want to give it a shot!
