Common Questions and Answers about Memory loss meds

memory

Avatar f tn Oh yeah! many meds can cause memory loss. My psych meds do as does my hubbie's pain meds. It's a small price to pay to be well. I've adapted by writing notes for things I need to remember and put things in their regular places so that they don't get misplaced. I keep a calendar to write appts on as soon as I make them along with all the b-days and anniversaries that I need to remember. Good luck on your new meds.

1313177 tn?1273792988 Does Synthroid cause memory loss if taken over a peroid of 35 years or so? if so is there an alternative medication to take? if it is linked to memory loss is it reversable?
Avatar n tn However, more importantly, since your memory loss may or may not be related to the Celexa, it could be that your memory loss is due to something else. Plz let your Doc know about your memory loss before thinking about quitting Celexa cold turkey. Example: your memory problems could be from your actual Depression not being taken care of. When I had my 1st Major Depression, I had a form of memory loss problem, and that was BEFORE I took any meds.
Avatar m tn Sorry Hi, My question really is about memory loss. I am only 24 years and I feel like I am too young to be experiencing this kind of memory loss; I don't know what you want to call it but I just think maybe it's getting worse? I always had a little hard time remembering things but recently I think it has reached a level now where it is impacting me and my surrondings. Less than a week ago, I lost my iphone, (or so I thought) when going at the post office.
Avatar n tn Depression seems to have a big impact on memory. Have you recently changed your dose of antidepressant or other meds? If you can't remember your childhood and you could before then it seems maybe more than medication. It sounds like you need to get an MRI or CT scan of the head to make sure nothing is wrong. You may want to see a neurologist but your family practise doc might be able to get started with some of the neurological tests. I would really get on this ASAP.
1191795 tn?1264712627 Psych meds can indeed cause memory loss, but so can many others that are not psych meds. It sounds like your meds may have caused this, you might want to get them adjusted like margypops was helpful and told you to do.
Avatar m tn I have been taking Xanax for years now and have not found it to cause memory loss. Everyone experiences meds in a different way. Valium (diazepam), alprazolam (Zanax Ativan and clonazepam are all members of the same "family" with some "minor" chemical changes. I have found that OTC sleep aids often cause me to forget things. It's really frustrating not be able to remember what I said two minutes ago. IMHO, meds work best with therapy.
Avatar n tn I have never heard of any antidepressants being associated with memory loss, but everyone reacts differently to these meds so I suppose anything is possible. Are you sure this memory loss is not due to another medical condition you may not know about? If it makes you feel any better, I used to take Effexor XR at 300Mgs a day for 4 years and did not have any lasting memory problems. I can say that now that I am 40 I have noticed that I have a little trouble remembering many things.
Avatar n tn Ask you Doctor if the meds or the combination of them could cause the memory loss I do know some meds do cause it and once they are stopped or changed the memory gets better, you could run your own test by leaving them off for a few days, ask your Doctor first, you can also google for your self if the Med particularly Zocor can make him have memory loss.
662374 tn?1224986757 I will say this, none of my meds list Memory loss as a side effect. Just wondering if anyone has ever taken some sort of supplements with luck to help Memory Loss.

Avatar n tn In 2007 he had a hip replacement done and ended up having 3 operations within one week because of complications. My question is could the buildup of medications etc cause him to now have memory loss, language skills loss and tremors in his right hand. He walked in to the hospital on crutches and now is dependent on a wheelchair.
Avatar m tn The next day when i got in touch with her , she acted as though she has no recollection of what we had in between and she seems to have memory loss on all the places and events that she has been and was with me. She even started calling me by my real name instead of dear or darling how she used to.
Avatar n tn in NV as a distribution mgr) told me his girlfriend has severe memory loss, which has also been attributed to antidepressants. Are my concerns of memory loss due to antidepressants justified? Thanks!
202665 tn?1248806733 I experience some form of memory loss on antipsychotics but the medicine that really caused me to have that level of memory loss and confusion like you describe was Cogentin which can cause Alzheimer's-like side effects, although Cogentin isn't a psych med, it's a side effect pill. I don't know if psych meds can cause memory loss to that extent or not but I would bet it's possible although I would get other causes ruled out like you're doing.
446356 tn?1205202631 my friend has been playing with the pills and has got some memory loss larissa said that playing with pills you can get seizures total memorie loss and other problems I don't understand why pills are such a big deal to take

Avatar m tn My mother had her thyroid and a benign tumour removed about 6 months ago. She lives 3 hours away from me, so I have seen her a few times but only for short intervals and we regularly speak on the phone. Since her operation I have noticed she is always tired (also due to her heart medication) and that she has become more of a glass half empty type of person. Recently my father had a heart attack (serious but my Dad is a trooper and is now recovering after surgery).
Avatar n tn If all these meds are taken at the same time is their a chance of blacking out or short term memory loss? The reason I ask is because it has happened to me and I need some info on this.
