Avatar m tn Sorry Hi, My question really is about memory loss. I am only 24 years and I feel like I am too young to be experiencing this kind of memory loss; I don't know what you want to call it but I just think maybe it's getting worse? I always had a little hard time remembering things but recently I think it has reached a level now where it is impacting me and my surrondings. Less than a week ago, I lost my iphone, (or so I thought) when going at the post office.
Avatar n tn I am a 33 year old mother of three and my memory is getting worse. I used to attribute it to being so busy but it's become more short term as I get older. I'm forgetting words when I have conversations with people, names of streets that I've always known before. I'll walk in a room specifically for an item and once in the room, I forget why I was there.

However, for some people it can have long term effects including long term memory loss (short term memory loss is a given). That's why trans cranial magnetic stimulation is now being used as an FDA approved option that has a safer long term side effect profile.
Avatar n tn I am a year and half post tx and I am experiencing memory loss, processing information (use to have a wonderful sense of direction) and just not myself. Avatar m tn Hi there. You have short term memory loss and you are young. The causes for this loss of memory could be many like lack of sleep, hurried up routine, psychogenic memory loss after a stressful and life threatening event, vitamin B1 deficiency, certain drug abuse like PCP, LSD and cocaine. Some prescription drugs can also be the culprit like barbiturates, tricyclic anti depressants etc. brain infections like encephalitis and head trauma are other rare causes.
Avatar n tn It indicated that half of people undergoing bypass surgery developed memory or thinking problems in the days following it, and that these problems were usually still evident five years later. A different viewpoint: Johns Hopkins researchers who have been at the forefront of this field reviewed the evidence on short-term and long-term mental changes after bypass surgery.

Avatar m tn s at the very least exacerbating your memory problems? It could even be the root cause of them. Even perfectly healthy people with excellent memories will look high and low for their car keys only to find them in their hands while stoned. I thought you were a total health nut? Deeply inhaling burned vegetable matter (carcinogenic smoke), epsecially on a regular basis, is not good for your liver or your brain. I'd go cold turkey and see if things get better. Best of luck...
Avatar m tn No, not at all...sorry to hear about your profound loss....grief takes many forms, and talking to the image in your head that represents the memory of your life, is not uncommon...she is still a prescence in your mind. But if the line between memory and reality becomes blurred for you at some time, then you should seek professional help to sort it out.
Avatar n tn Severe alcohol or drug abuse, and malnutrition, act to deprive the brain of nutrients causing the death of brain cells. This can also cause significant loss of memories. Memory loss may sometimes result from stroke, if it affects the area of the brain concerned with memory functions. Once brain cells die, they cannot be replaced. Depending on the cause of the amnesia, the brain may be able to recover many of its previous faculties.

146021 tn?1237204887 A quiet salute here in honour of Nick, a remarkable young man ... and in honour of his mom, what a remarkable pair - mother and son. Both - an enduring inspiration to all of us and Nick, never to be forgotten. I have always felt that when my son came along it was like God looked down and said "this boy belongs with this mom" and laid him in my arms, my heart and my soul. I got the same sort of impression observing the relationship between you and your Nick, Angel.
