Avatar f tn Are your brother in law's seizures refractory? If they are, chances are his worsening memory issues are a result of his refractory epilepsy, although certain medications can make things worse. Epileptic acticity causes scarring of tissue; the hippocampus is unfotuantely very prone to scar as a result of seizures, and is often an onset sight for refractory complex partial seizures, if that is what your brother in law has.
Avatar m tn in comparisson to short termmemory loss and how to overcome short term memory loss without using a pill but with FAITH IN INDEPENDANCE and organizing the electrical synapses that our brains use most frequently/ rely on the most frequently.... you might need to forget some of your most valuable memories to be able to regain your short term memory... Avatar n tn I have problems remembering a lot of things. Names of relatives or friends. Things I did in the past. My children (grown) will talk about things that I was a part of and I draw a complete blank. I forget word terms, even the name of some things. It seems like bad memories are imbeded in my brain though. I remember most all of that, in detail. Yet I can watch two movies and can't remember what they were. It takes me a while. So, believe me you are not alone.

Avatar m tn Hi my name is Robin, and mmy concern is that my memory has become very weak in last 10 years. Now what I mean is that I am unable to remember any study material in college such as large paragraphs, even after revision. I can only remember one or tweo lines. This was not always the case because in chilhood my memory was preety good since I remembereed most of the reading that I did, but not the same in college. I am currently doing HR and it demands that you have a good memory.

Avatar n tn However, more importantly, since your memory loss may or may not be related to the Celexa, it could be that your memory loss is due to something else. Plz let your Doc know about your memory loss before thinking about quitting Celexa cold turkey. Example: your memory problems could be from your actual Depression not being taken care of. When I had my 1st Major Depression, I had a form of memory loss problem, and that was BEFORE I took any meds.
Avatar m tn Sorry Hi, My question really is about memory loss. I am only 24 years and I feel like I am too young to be experiencing this kind of memory loss; I don't know what you want to call it but I just think maybe it's getting worse? I always had a little hard time remembering things but recently I think it has reached a level now where it is impacting me and my surrondings. Less than a week ago, I lost my iphone, (or so I thought) when going at the post office.

Avatar n tn About an hour later he suffered a brief episode (1-2 min) of short term memory loss. He could not remember the weekend holiday or do sums. Other than feeling cold he did not exhibit any physical symptoms. He had another episode about three weeks later. A neurologist examined him and found nothing but set up an EEG. He has had no other episodes. Any suggestions as to what to ask during/after the EEG or what the potential cause might be? Thank you.
Avatar m tn I will be praying for your healing - and for the return of your memory. As GoPens66 mentioned - you're in an alcohol/substance related group - memory loss can be associated with drinking. It can be associated with many other things, too - from different medications, mental or cognitive health conditions, and even sometimes stress.

Avatar f tn Medication has caused memory loss in my case. Doc. says it's not so, but as soon as I come off my memory's back to normal. As I'm now considered old it's not too much of a problem for me. I accept the unwanted side-effects for the benefits received. Short term memory loss at your age sounds odd, Get it checked out asp. Try not to worry meanwhile. Memory is precious, long term seems to stay intact when the short term goes in my case.
Avatar m tn Hello, I was diagnosed with syringomyelia and severe and mod stenosis. I've been doing rather well considering that they told me I would be in a wheel chair by now. Anyway I wondered if anyone else with this diagnosis has had problems with memory? My Nurse practitioner said it's normal then my wife looked it up and couldn't find anything on it. The memory loss that is. Nor could I. Any one know or have information on this topic?

Avatar n tn The exact cause is not known but it quite possibly can be a result of anesthesia. This memory loss does not occur in every body and is dependent on patient’s individual risk. Most likely the problem will go away with time although sometimes it persists for a long time. I would suggest you to discuss this with your surgeon.
