1339419 tn?1275966042 My short term memory is not 100% as it is, although it is not as bad as my long term memory, and when my blood pressure is really high ( 160/100+ ) I seem to have short term memory loss that increases with the increasing blood pressure numbers. Is this a direct side effect of high blood pressure, others with hypertension having suggested it effects their short term memory, or is it confined only to myself because of my memory problems?
Avatar f tn Hi, I am a 21 year old female who has been experiencing memory loss issues. I've always had not the best memory, but now in the past 4-5 months its gotten to a point where its negatively impacting my life on a daily basis; I can't remember things I've done with my friends, inside jokes, people I've met, what a movie I watched a month ago was about. Every day when someone says "Remember this happened..
Avatar f tn I am 34, have had migraines my whole life but I have dealt with them. In 2007 I started having severe memory loss (think having to pull over in the middle of a rain storm because I couldn't remember how to turn on the wipers in my car) and tingling in my fingers..was referred to a Neurologist who from the first minute I met him blew me off. I had an MRI that he himself read (not a radiologist) the report simply said "Normal".
Avatar f tn s lost some eyesight which is her biggest thing but she also struggles with short term memory loss. She really has trouble remembering names and mostly things to do, some details from conversations. Her long term memory and even memory from a couple of days ago is good. Her neurologist told her it could be the start of Alzheimers...I'm a little shocked because she has no confusion, can sort tasks, no problems with her checkbook.
Avatar f tn I do know that if I am really tired I will have memory loss to the point that I cannot complete a sentence. So does it mean that when I am 73 my brain will act like it is 83 or older? This really has me worried.
Avatar m tn I have read when your really stressed the body produces to much cortisol and either affects or damages the hippocampus which is the memory center of the brain. As you can see i've had some time on my hands and have done some research. I'm also a hypochondriac, but i'm just so baffled that my brain function has been so compromised. Maybe my disorders kind of left untreated without meds ultimately caused this.
Avatar m tn This process was more profound in the hippocampus, though, which is the region of the brain involved in memory and cognitive performance. The discovery of the autophagy in the walnut-eating groups was particularly exciting because as we age, this process slows down. In addition to these physical changes in the brain, researchers found that both groups fed the walnut diets performed better than the control group in cognitive and motor tests.
Avatar n tn There is a focal 5 mm focus of T2/FLAIR hyperintensity in the mesial right temporal lobe just superior to the right hippocampus. The hippocampi are symmetric and demonstrate normal signal intensity. .... IMPRESSION There is a 5 mm focus of increased T2 signal intensity in the mesial right temporal lobe of uncertain etiology and significance. This is located superior to the right hippocampus. Correlate with EEG findings. Further evaluation with contrast enhancement recommended.
1580703 tn?1651904887 at what dosage dose and length of time does prednisone cause brain damage and memory problems, thinking problems? thanks!
2015036 tn?1332997788 I did a little more research, and there is a medscape article that showed that atophy in the hippocampus causes memory problems. It further showed that people are very aware when their cognitive status changes, and that it usually means a decrease in the volume of their hippocampus- even when other forms of testing fail to show that there has actually been a decline is cognitve abilities. All I really knew, prior to this- was that I used to be sharp- high IQ, etc.
396099 tn?1216254986 The study also found that the emergence of depression was associated with a profound reduction in the number of neural stem cells (cells that will become neurons) and in the number of new neurons in a brain region known as the hippocampus. This brain region is critical for normal learning and memory, and recent studies show that the development of neurons in the hippocampus may regulate mood, Hodge said.
Avatar f tn Otherwise unremarkable except for the following “coronal images demonstrate a slightly increased signal intensity in the left hippocampus compared to the right.

Avatar f tn I guess my fiance says I have memory loss since I was pregnant. Our daughter is a month now and I guess he says I see and hear things differently then how they happen or do things I don't know I did. He said it has been since I was pregnant not before. Has this happened to anyone?
Avatar m tn I've had memory loss due to vitamin B12 malabsorption, hypothyroidism, and severe stress. Alzheimer's is also called Diabetes Type 3. A book you might want to read is called Brain Grain by David Perlmutter M.D.
Avatar n tn I am a year and half post tx and I am experiencing memory loss, processing information (use to have a wonderful sense of direction) and just not myself. I have a very hectic job and I feel there are times I cannot keep up--and yes my confidence has diminished...anyone out there feel the same way...???
Avatar m tn But doing this resulted in side effect like shrinking of brain leading to memory loss. He is in critical condition now. Is there any solution for this. If yes, please give that advice fast.
Avatar n tn After coratid artery surgery, experiencing memory loss which is not consistently short term or long term, is it possible for the brain to reconfigure areas damaged by particles that passed through the filter and regain the ability to remember? This discussion is related to short term memory loss.
562833 tn?1233756109 Does anyone or has anyone experienced memory loss over pain killers. I feel I am losing my mind half the time. I can't remember what I was about to do, or what I need to do. And where I put stuff, I am really starting to worry about this, along with all the other things, I am worried about. maybe this is just part of my OCD. I tend to worry about everything and keep stressing about it.
Avatar m tn re in an alcohol/substance related group - memory loss can be associated with drinking. It can be associated with many other things, too - from different medications, mental or cognitive health conditions, and even sometimes stress. I think it is very important that you speak to a doctor who can survey your health & lifestyle profile to work with what is known - and other factors that may not be known.
