Common Questions and Answers about Memory loss from weed

memory

Avatar m tn I have certain memory dropouts from that time, and I doubt they will come back. Which is ok with me because I'd rather forget most of the experience anyway (not the people I've met along the way though). But honestly dude, if you're huffing on the weed, isn't it pretty obvious that it's at the very least exacerbating your memory problems? It could even be the root cause of them.
Avatar m tn This may be due to the past weed smoking, but he is leaning toward smoking weed again. Aside from the loss of short term memory, is the risk of seizures very high? He's very healthy and has never had any brain related problems in the past. Any answers or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn Well I now know what the memory loss is from....I'm so stoooopid. I'm 9 days off of vicodin, thought all was amazing, but stupid me had 7 ativan and decided to take one or two on wed thurs and fri..I've been taking ativan on an as needed basis since my miscarriage on july 4th...I can honestly say I've never taken more than three a day and it's not something I love or crave ever. This miscarriage threw me for a loop and the anxiety was for real.
Avatar f tn It is not going to make you blind but the chronic weed use can make you dumb (loss of IQ points, increased rates of schizophrenia, memory impairment, loss of motivation, etc.
Avatar f tn I think that is more likely the cause of your memory loss, instead of the foil. Even though marijuana is a recreational drug, it is still a drug and it affects your body in many ways. If you are taking any other drugs from the store or pharmacy, it can also interact with the marijuana. If you are truly depressed, you may need an antidepressant for a little while. You won't need to be on it for life. Just until your body doesn't need it anymore.
Avatar m tn Hi, I'm 22 years old and I suffer from bad short term memory, When i was younger 15-18 i smoked alot of Marijuana to combat with depression and i fear that it has done permanent damage to my memory. Since then I haven't smoked Marijuana in years because of the realization that it wasn't helping me at all, that instead of combating my depression it was just clouding it and covering it until i didn't feel it anymore.
Avatar m tn re in an alcohol/substance related group - memory loss can be associated with drinking. It can be associated with many other things, too - from different medications, mental or cognitive health conditions, and even sometimes stress. I think it is very important that you speak to a doctor who can survey your health & lifestyle profile to work with what is known - and other factors that may not be known.
Avatar m tn I believe it is the seizures themselves that cause it. A neuropsche Dr from WVU told me that seizures cause memory loss.

Avatar f tn This does not have any long term complications. The person just needs support from family members and has to learn to live with the memory loss. Memory loss is also a common symptom of frontal lobe injury. Damage to the frontal lobe of the brain causes frontal encephalomalacia. Encephalomalacia is not an illness. It is basically a softening of the brain matter as a result of an ischemia or infarction, degenerative changes, infection, craniocerebral trauma, or other injury.
Avatar f tn You would have to ask her Doctor that one, is she on meds as I do know that some have an effect on short term memory, what is she taking, ask her Doctor if the meds could be the reason, maybe her dosage, has she been upset maybe suffering from anxiety?
Avatar n tn However, more importantly, since your memory loss may or may not be related to the Celexa, it could be that your memory loss is due to something else. Plz let your Doc know about your memory loss before thinking about quitting Celexa cold turkey. Example: your memory problems could be from your actual Depression not being taken care of. When I had my 1st Major Depression, I had a form of memory loss problem, and that was BEFORE I took any meds.
Avatar n tn Johns Hopkins researchers who have been at the forefront of this field reviewed the evidence on short-term and long-term mental changes after bypass surgery. They found that short-term confusion, memory loss, and poorer problem solving and information processing are common after bypass surgery, but are usually temporary and reversible. Most people return to their pre-bypass level of function between 3 and 12 weeks after surgery.

Avatar m tn Hello, I was diagnosed with syringomyelia and severe and mod stenosis. I've been doing rather well considering that they told me I would be in a wheel chair by now. Anyway I wondered if anyone else with this diagnosis has had problems with memory? My Nurse practitioner said it's normal then my wife looked it up and couldn't find anything on it. The memory loss that is. Nor could I. Any one know or have information on this topic?
