Common Questions and Answers about Memory loss from drinking

memory

Avatar m tn re in an alcohol/substance related group - memory loss can be associated with drinking. It can be associated with many other things, too - from different medications, mental or cognitive health conditions, and even sometimes stress. I think it is very important that you speak to a doctor who can survey your health & lifestyle profile to work with what is known - and other factors that may not be known.

Avatar f tn Well I now know what the memory loss is from....I'm so stoooopid. I'm 9 days off of vicodin, thought all was amazing, but stupid me had 7 ativan and decided to take one or two on wed thurs and fri..I've been taking ativan on an as needed basis since my miscarriage on july 4th...I can honestly say I've never taken more than three a day and it's not something I love or crave ever. This miscarriage threw me for a loop and the anxiety was for real.
Avatar n tn I am a healthy 34 yr old male and I have been experiencing migraines over the last 4 months. The last 2 times I also experienced Memory Loss and slurred speach. I am unable to remember peoples names or common work terms for 20-30 minutes. My family has a history of migraines and my brother has had strokes in his late 20's. I recently stopped drinking and lost over 30 lbs. The migraines started after this. Would this change anything in my body to bring them on?

Avatar m tn I had only recently started drinking somewhat, one one day I took one beer, it was a can of 330ml with 6.8percent beer, what are the chances of it causing some memory loss, I remember having protected sex with a girl afterwards, what are the chances that this one beer can could have caused memory loss and that some detail of the event may not be in my memory?
1755707 tn?1312485232 The craziest thing is the Librium makes her have severe memory loss. Is that normal? I feel so sorry for her. Does anyone else get the memory loss? Is it from the Librium itself or from her coming off alcohol and trying to lower the Librium and Xanax at the same time? I agree and think she should stay on the Librium at 1/2 of 10mg in the AM then 1/2 in the afternoon then 1/2 with her 1mg of Xanax at bedtime. We can cut the Xanax at 1/4 mg every 2 weeks as she stabilizes.
Avatar m tn I believe it is the seizures themselves that cause it. A neuropsche Dr from WVU told me that seizures cause memory loss.

Avatar f tn This does not have any long term complications. The person just needs support from family members and has to learn to live with the memory loss. Memory loss is also a common symptom of frontal lobe injury. Damage to the frontal lobe of the brain causes frontal encephalomalacia. Encephalomalacia is not an illness. It is basically a softening of the brain matter as a result of an ischemia or infarction, degenerative changes, infection, craniocerebral trauma, or other injury.
Avatar f tn You would have to ask her Doctor that one, is she on meds as I do know that some have an effect on short term memory, what is she taking, ask her Doctor if the meds could be the reason, maybe her dosage, has she been upset maybe suffering from anxiety?
Avatar n tn However, more importantly, since your memory loss may or may not be related to the Celexa, it could be that your memory loss is due to something else. Plz let your Doc know about your memory loss before thinking about quitting Celexa cold turkey. Example: your memory problems could be from your actual Depression not being taken care of. When I had my 1st Major Depression, I had a form of memory loss problem, and that was BEFORE I took any meds.
Avatar m tn I have certain memory dropouts from that time, and I doubt they will come back. Which is ok with me because I'd rather forget most of the experience anyway (not the people I've met along the way though). But honestly dude, if you're huffing on the weed, isn't it pretty obvious that it's at the very least exacerbating your memory problems? It could even be the root cause of them.
