She also feared an addiction and asked me to wean myself off of the tramadol and gave me a prescription for meloxicam instead. I am now down to less than a quarter tramadol a day. I can manage the pain reasonably with meloxicam and Tylenol. But it still hurts more than I would like. Now that my history has been described, here is the real issue of this post. Ever since my surgery I have had some sexual dysfunction. I used to love sex. I would think about it a lot.

Many of the medication they prescribe for fibromyalgia is non narcotic , but I can't recall the names off hand. I know many are on nuerotin for pain, but not sure it thats addicting. I know I was not much help, but wanted to tap in to say CONGRATS on all those clean years. Hope you get some long term relief.
They have me new meds (I cant recall the names) and sent me home, telling me to rest as much as possible. That also didn't help. I made an appointment a week later and they did a hip x ray and said it was normal, gave me a muscle relaxer and sent me home again. My doctor finally sent me for an MRI and on Nov 22 I was told there is a moderate central disc protrusion on l3-l4, large central disc protrusion on l4-l5 and central disc extrusion on l5-s1.
I don't recall a bout with Salmonella, or any other possible causative organism. Chlamydia and gonnorhea should be out with the meds I took. I haven't had genetic testing, but my research revealed that Reiter's is rarer in Black secondary to the rarity of the HLA-B47 in that population. Could this be Reiter's or just the coincidental cluster of symptoms? To test further, what type of physician should I consult?
2 months ago I requested to drop to the 10mg Oxycontin. I also have been taking Meloxicam and Cyclobenzaprine PRN. I asked my GP, who I have been seeing since early childhood and who I trust completely in medical matters, to attempt a Non-narcotic treatment plan. He took me off the meloxicam and put me on Toradol (Ketorolac) 10mg 3xDaily. Now, I have researched a bit about the drug, checking the insert and also several websites, such as Drugs.
His return is conditional and he is going to be mentored by Tony Dungy during this rehabilitation and reassessment time. As you recall, Vick was found guilty for his involvement with a large dog fighting ring run from his property in Virginia (Bad Newz Kennels). He has spent 18 months behind bars and was released earlier this year. In the meantime, he has negotiated with the Humane Society of the United States to function as a spokesperson against dog fighting.
Whether the doc hits my inner elbow, knee or ankle, no reflexes are there. I think I recall posting about this back around June '10 when it was brought to my attention. I thought the response was that with MS you generally see hyperreflexia. And that no reflexes pulled away for an MS dx.
The Opiates are only moderately controlling the back discomfort, I don't think they are anymore effective than the Celebrex was.(if I can recall correctly). I've been struggling with this thought for awhile now and after reading your post it makes alot of sense because Opiates will not be effective for inflammatory pain and this is no doubt why I have only experienced 'moderate' relief. I totally agree that we as patients need to read, search, understand and be the directors of our own care.
The doctor assumed it was a pinched nerve and prescribed meloxicam. That did nothing after a couple of months, so I stopped using it. A few weeks afterward, my calf was fine. A few weeks after that headaches started. Around this time (late March, early April), I was moving, taking on a job I didnt want, losing a girl I didnt want to lose... so there was obviously some stress....Anyway, thanks for your help.
Hi, I am 1 month shy of 36 & in south TX. I am healthy, active, not overweight & have NO health concerns to my knowledge. My two young children had Fifth's Disease within the last 2-3 weeks. One followed the other within a 7-9 day time frame. They both started with the red face/cheeks & the body rash. I don't recall them being itchy from the rash. They each recovered without any noteable 'problems' or issues.
She doesn't recall something specific that she did to cause the pain to start. Her pain is diminished but of course she wants to be reassured that it is not something really problematic. I did a little research and saw more or less what this is about. What's the best immediate "therapy" for her? Rest and chiropratic? Is there something she should be avoiding doing from now on or can she have a normal life? Thank you very much for your advice.
It was a different text that showed my severe anemia, but I don't recall what it was) My daughters anxiety is ongoing since infancy, and to the most extreme levels. Her hair was even falling out after she gave birth, and I had to go stay with her for months because she was so sick and her ANA was high. They put her through a battery of auto immune testing.. and nothing conclusive, so still she suffers 24/7, only now with a 1 year old in tow...
I have had my neck lock up so badly that I had to get an injection with a huge needle in my rear, which almost immediately provided relief. I don't recall what it was but they told me that it is something they cannot give other than in an emergency. Kaiser refused to do an MRI of my back. They would only do an MRI of my neck because they claimed the numbness in my right arm HAD to be from my neck.
I feel OK now, thanks to the anti-inflamatory pills (MELOXICAM 7.5 mg) actually pain went away next day. But how long I can take pills?? Still waiting for blood test results from rheumatologist (appointment next wek), need to make x-rays of my knee and both hands. I think about taking MELISA test, still waiting for referal from dentist. The worst for me are costs.
I was dx with hypothyroidism Jan 08 after dealing with extreme fatigue, was put on 88mcg Synthroid after working with an endo and then sent to a rheumatologist who dx with fibromyalgia. Was put on Meloxicam, Soma and Elavil to help with "fibro symptoms." Starting feeling much better for about 6+ months until "crashing" with severe fatigue plus a new symptom - lacation- Dec 08. Gynocologist sent me to have MRI to look at pituitary even though prolactin levels were normal.
