meloxicam liver damage

meloxicam is a nsaid....

Maybe I never noticed that last few years cause of the pain meds I took. But I am only 42, and now this crap. My doctor started me on Meloxicam to help remove the swelling in my joints and help with the pain. She knows full well my hx... and I know that Meloxicam is not a narcotic. Does anyone have any thoughts? This really *****..... Thanks!!

I was told today by my awesome insurance company that they will not cover Celebrex. I have been on meloxicam for many years. I'm on day 25 norco free and working with my pain management doctor on non narcotic relief. I thought this maybe a good choice but the insurance company disagreed. Any opinions on arthritis relief options. I have liver issues and I'm tested every 6 months. I also have stenosis, 2 bulging discs and one that has been detached.

I am so scared I have caused damage to my liver. After I get off of these will it repair itself or am I in trouble. The only syntom I have right now is welling in my akiles and feet. But i have taken fluid pills for the fluid for yrs before I started taken lorcet.

However liver damage could start to occur at a single overdose of 24 standard tablets or 150 mg/kg body weight, (whichever is the smaller).

I have been taking Darvocet for about two years now. I began just taking one a week at night after a bad day and it has progressed to 1-3 daily for about 6 months now. I went to the Dr. for a checkup yesterday and the ALT liver function test was high. The other liver tests were normal just that one was high. The Dr. thinks it is from my acid reflux medication and is changing that but I rarely take it. Could it be the Darvocet?

The only way to truly ease your mind is by being totally honest with him/her. I have liver damage and kidney damage due to drugs stage 2 liver stage 3 kidney.. if your liver were damaged and you had a flare your belly would be extended/pain upper right you would be lethargic/vomiting.. other symptoms but these being severe.. It is not fun and I would not wish it on anyone.. I contracted hep C from slamming and further continued the damage through pills/alcohol..

I have never been to hospital, I dont appear to have yellowing of the skin or eyes. What is the likly hood of damage to my liver, and if stoped now could my liver possibly recover from and damege.

Hard to say but if he stops attacking the liver with alcohol, no further damage should be done and some of those numbers should go down at least a little.

My brother has been in the hospital for 12 days for liver damage. His skin and eyes are yellow, abdomen pain and swelling of the stomach. They drained off 12 liters of fluid from stomach area. He's has dementia, no communicating with him that makes any sense. In this situation what is his chance to make it through this? The doctors and nurses are not saying much, but wait and see.

thank you,m sue ragan oh yes they have put me on meloxicam and lyrica 150 mg. twice a day and it has helped a lot with the burning ,not the pain.

Meloxicam is considered a strong Motrin, but this meloxicam knocked me out for 24 hours. My husband was soon prescribed it and he also hated it. You cannot drive or read, just sleep. Meloxicam is a pain killer, very strong, and doctors are acting like it is just motrin. It is not. It puts you in a coma.
