my arthritis pain has been in my larger joints for a few years now but within the last 8 months it has gotten to the point that i cant even braid my hair some days because my hands hurt so bad. i have been on meloxicam for about six months and i take vitamins regularly. since i have been on the meloxicam my bursitis(which i have delt with for fifteen years and no meds) flared up and has not subsided, my body still aches daily and i take vicodin at night so i can sleep which does help.

I was prescribe Meloxicam and tynolol with codiene,is this a good combination for severe arthritis?

Can you take meloxicam and later a couple of Advil? I was prescribed meloxicam for my arthritis and it does not always help me..

Since lupus can affect the internal organs, I would take her to see another rheumie until you find one that will try something other than or in addition to an NSAID like meloxicam. (I also take meloxicam, but in conjunction with three other meds for RA that go after the disease process itself, not just treating the symptoms like meloxicam alone). Blood work is only one of many diagnostic tools, not the yes-or-no definitive answer.

My 7 year old has been diagnosed with Polyarticular Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis since she was age 4. She has been on several medications to treat the symptoms. Currently she is taking 12.5 mg Methotrexate, 12.5 mg injections of Enbrel twice weekly and 7.5 mg of Meloxicam. She has been having temps of 99-101 for the last year and a half and thigh pain for 3 years. All the doctors conclude that this all may be her arthritis. I don't believe that.

Hi 7041949. :) First, I want to tell you that I'm so glad you found our PM (Pain Management) Forum here on MH ( MedHelp ). From what I have read the 15 mg's of Meloxicam is taken once a day, whereas the 800mg's of Ibuprofen is taken every 6 hrs OR as prescribed by your Doctor. From everything I've read those 2 doses seem to be the normal dosages given especially for arthritis. The 2 doses seem to be equal in effectiveness, depending on the person.

s a few years older than me, and thought it would be good to know. Well it came back positive for the RA Factor but normal for the other test the citric citrulline PEP IGG or CCP. It doesn't seem the tx could have triggered it, but I'm hoping it didn't aggravate it. Anyone out there who has this in this forum? Thanks for listening.

I have been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis since 2007. First the blood work showed RA factor 83. And last year the number were 95. I went to rheumatologist last year. After examining he said even the numbers are high i don't have any pain or swelling he cant give any medicine. Since i am not taking anything. And i don't have any pain or swelling. 5 years ago, I went to a rheumatologist as a GP found I was positive for Rheumatoid Factor. The specialist did other tests, xrays etc and didnt find anything. But I have an autoimmune profile (Raynauds, scalp psoriasis and eczema prone skin) so she thought a mild immunosuppresant might be warranted. I decided that seemed drastic. My father was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis shortly after WWII. He developed it shortly after being shipped back from England in a coma with a very high temperature. He had the usual symptoms of RA but it was not symetrical. It affected different joints on either side of the body. He died in 1965.
