meloxicam for menstrual cramps

I have been dealing with joint paint, consistantly tired, very heavy bleeding during my menstrual cycle, and many other symptoms of hypothyroidism. My doctor currently put me on meloxicam for the "arthritis" (I am only 27 years old), and sent me for blood work. Both times, my thyroglobulin antibodies were high, and this past time they did a bloodtest for hypothyroidism and said that those levels were normal, even though my antibody level was still high.

Since lupus can affect the internal organs, I would take her to see another rheumie until you find one that will try something other than or in addition to an NSAID like meloxicam. (I also take meloxicam, but in conjunction with three other meds for RA that go after the disease process itself, not just treating the symptoms like meloxicam alone). Blood work is only one of many diagnostic tools, not the yes-or-no definitive answer.

ve been taking Meloxicam for my costochondritis for about a month and felt much better. I quit taking it and had a flare up and am now back on it. I hope it works. I just don't want to be on it too long term.

I have ulcerative colitis for a few years, I been in hospital a couple of times but the last time i was in it was due to the pain killing drug meloxicam for joint pain. I am almost sure celelbrex is in the same family, so to speak, as meloxicam.. I ended up losing the lining of my stomach. I had had a problem with anti flams for a while and i new i couldnt take celebrex as i had terrible cramps in my stomach.

I'm 34 weeks and having the strongest menstrual type feeling cramps ever. My Lower back is in so much pain. It's almost unbearable. Should I be concerned? Did anybody experience this before labor?

With both my daughter and this pregnancy I had quite a bit of cramping. They felt like mild (for me) menstrual cramps. My cramps usually make it very hard to even stand up. Having had previous miscarriages it was very scary to be cramping, but I talked with my doc and everything was fine and he said cramping is normal in the beginning but if you have bleeding or severe pain on one side to go to the doc.

Can you take meloxicam and later a couple of Advil? I was prescribed meloxicam for my arthritis and it does not always help me..

I'm not sure what it is exactly but it's probably part of the process... I'm preggo w/my first so I have no experience to share, but I'm pretty sure cramping is very normal at the end of pregnancy as your body prepares for labor/birth. I've had occassional menstrual like cramps too and I'm not as far along as you. My doctor equates it to either BH, normal uterine cramping, or constipation or diarrea. To me, they didn't feel any different. I was prepared for disappointment because I thought my period was about to come. I don't think every woman feels cramping during implantation, just like every woman does not experience spotting.

It might be early labor. I have read where premature labor can feel like menstrual cramps. It could also be Braxton hicks but Im not sure. Meloxicam is considered a strong Motrin, but this meloxicam knocked me out for 24 hours. My husband was soon prescribed it and he also hated it. You cannot drive or read, just sleep. Meloxicam is a pain killer, very strong, and doctors are acting like it is just motrin. It is not. It puts you in a coma.

When the uterus stretches it feels like menstrual cramps, mine were a but stronger than regular menstrual cramps. If they get unbearable I would call the doctor just to be safe.

I went to the doctor for some issues that I had been having and decided to reach out to my doctor for help getting off these bad boys. He perscribed Meloxicam to help with some the withdrawal symptons. I have to say this stuff, which is just an anit inflammatory will helps with the symptons. It eleminates the hot, flush feeling which is most annoying. It really does help. Just wondering if it's all in my head or has anyone actually heard of this? Thanks.

I've been on that medication for many years and have had no side effects. It's been very helpful for my condition (severe tibial tendonitis).
