I have a question about Osteoarthritis and the pain that comes with it. Last November I had 5, 6, and 7 upper vertebra fused together and feel so much better in that way BUT i can't take anti inflammatory medications for my Osteoarthritis, Tylenol doesn't even help a bit and non of the arthritis over the counter meds help either. My question is... is there a non narcotic pain medication that I can take every day? I am 45 years old and very healthy besides my arthritis. thank you!

Can you take meloxicam and later a couple of Advil? I was prescribed meloxicam for my arthritis and it does not always help me..

Ime really worried about taking these etoricoxib even tho i was assured by the receptionist that they are not in the same family as celebrex and meloxicam..I really do believe that the celbrex caused you to have the bowel obstructions as with me it caused me to lose the lining of my stomach and also a huge flare up of ulcerative colitis which as soon as my own doctor the visited me i was rushed in and he told me i should never even of been given them..Anyway just be careful what you take.

3xdaily-lyrica 75, baclofen 10, insta-flex (a joint support medicine ordered off of TV), tramadol 50, methadone 5; and as needed daily oxycodone 15 (up to 6 per day), black cohosh, pro-air. I know this seems like an awful lot of anti-inflammatory pills, but my Neurologist says he has a "plan" and to trust him on this.

I have been on Meloxicam for about 4 months and have gained 20 pounds and i feel swollen. I am also on highblood pressure meds. I just quit taking the Meloxicam. Does anyone know if the weight goes away? How long does it take for bloated feeling to go away?

I take lisinopril myself for HBP and have done so for decades. I've never used naproxen except maybe once or twice. One Rx that might possibly be of benefit for arthritis instead of naproxen is meloxicam, also known as Mobic. I use it occasionally with no ill effects to report.

Anywhoo, he gave me a script for mobic and tramadol. I have never been prescribed either, but after reading this forum, I opted NOT to get the tramadol filled. I did get the mobic filled because I only take it once daily so I figured it would be okay. Any advice on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

since i have been on the meloxicam my bursitis(which i have delt with for fifteen years and no meds) flared up and has not subsided, my body still aches daily and i take vicodin at night so i can sleep which does help. i am seeing a rheumatologist next month (i am very nervous) and i dont know what type of questions i should ask. im only 27 and everyone doubts my pain. i would be very gratefull for any advice.

Ive become so dependant on these pills that I actually need them to cope. Tramadol helps with my depression and anxiety and gives me massive amounts of energy. I don't want to be dependant on anything that could harm my body I don't want to be a slave to this drug anymore. Im working on tapering off. Can this drug harm the bodies natural ways of releasing serotonin? Im worried that I won't be able to be naturally happy without tramadol.

I am going to lose my mind without help anymore. Here is my synopsis (shortened version) and any help is appreciated. 3mo ago I started having shoulder pain (as if slept on it wrong), I ignored it, but it didn't go away. I then started waking with stiff fingers that would not move with joints swollen. Then slowly wrist and forearm weakness. Every morning I wake with fingers aching. I went to Rheumatologist-xrays ok, blood tests ok-except one non-descript auto immune came back elevated.

do not take over 15mg of meloxicam daily and do not take other nsaids with it at all....if you must take another pain med then take tylenol....this what my doctor told me....and eat something before you take it also....

My medications are Meloxicam, Tramadol, Baclofen for arthritis and sever muscle spasms. Could any of these in conjunction with the lidocaine that was mixed with the cortizone be causing this and this is just a temporary condition?

What can I do or stop doing to return to normal? I have stopped taking my pain pills for my back problem (Meloxicam and Tramadol) and only take my blood pressure and thyroid meds. Stopped taking vitamins and supplements too (one-a-day, B-150, chromium picolinate) but have to take Melatonin, D3 and calcium to help me sleep most nights if I haven't taken the Maxalt.

Has anyone been to a pain management clinic? My doctor doesn't want me on narcotics long term (and neither do I!) so he's referred me to pain management. I have no idea what to expect. I've taken (without help) gabapentin, meloxicam, ibuprofen, tramadol, lortab (5, 7.5, & 10) and can't take excedrin and tylenol has never worked. I've also had 8 weeks of physical therapy and the chiropractor (not simultaneously) with no relief.

they are a very good med this is what i take now if i ever have back pain and yes it is an anti inflam but it is stronger than naproxen or ibprofen this is the med that helped my pain while i was in withdrawals and now that i am clean i no longer have pain because most of my left over back pain from surgery was my brain making me hurt so i would use med so now if i ever do have pain i take a mobic(thats the brand name for meloxicam) and about 20 minutes later i no longer hurt and it is not addic

I got x-rays and was diagnosed with degenerative arthritis in my big toe joint and on 9-18-13 I started taking Meloxicam (Mobic). The 1st two nights of taking Meloxicam I felt achey at night and had a fever of about 100- 101. That went away for a while, but then started happening again now every night from about 10-1-13 to now 10-11-13. I get a slight fever at night (100-101) and sweat bad all night long. Bad enough to where the sheets are wet. I usually lose about 3 - 3 1/2 lbs.

I have had both 800mg IB. And 800mg Meloxicam and one thing I know being on numerious medications for the past 10 years due to bad car accidents, is that your body will build a tolerance to all medications I'm no Dr but my best advice is to consult your Dr about alternating between both so that way your body doesn't build a high tolerance and they stop working altogether.

Has anyone heard of Meloxicam helping with w/d from opiates, such lortabs? I went to the doctor for some issues that I had been having and decided to reach out to my doctor for help getting off these bad boys. He perscribed Meloxicam to help with some the withdrawal symptons. I have to say this stuff, which is just an anit inflammatory will helps with the symptons. It eleminates the hot, flush feeling which is most annoying. It really does help.

I thought it was the start of some horrible disease until I thought to look up the side effects of meloxicam. I quit meloxicam and started feeling better after a couple of days (it take a few days to get out of your system because it has a relatively long half-life). After about 2 weeks I'm pretty much back to normal. I hope y'all eventually recovered as well - that was scary!

Hello Flowr, I understand your hesitancy to take Meloxicam. Meloxicam is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with analgesic and fever reducer effects. It's often used in Arthritic and inflammatory conditions. However any NSAID comes with concerns - including OTC NSAIDs such as Ibuprofen. Several years ago Glucosamine & Chondroitin was popular with medical providers. It was hailed as the new and one of the best "treatments" for restoring cartilage and reducing pain.

I broke my ribs about 10 months ago. I have been on 5mg vicodins since then. I have changed doctors and she won't prescribe the vicodin anymore. She prescribed me meloxicam (normally used to treat arthiritis?). What can I expect from this drug? Is it stronger and does it work better than prescription-strength naproxin?
