Meloxicam and motrin

Common Questions and Answers about Meloxicam and motrin

mobic

Meloxicam is considered a strong Motrin, but this meloxicam knocked me out for 24 hours. My husband was soon prescribed it and he also hated it. You cannot drive or read, just sleep. Meloxicam is a pain killer, very strong, and doctors are acting like it is just motrin. It is not. It puts you in a coma.
Hi there! I'm a 28 year old male, and I have a question about NSAIDs for chronic pain. I use ibuprofen daily most of the time for a torn meniscus in my left knee that I had surgery on and I have arthritis too. I also take it for a herniated disc (L-5) and ankle pain. I have acid reflux disease and esophagus problems as well. Is it safe to take all this Ibuprofen with the stomach problems I have, or should I talk to my Dr. about possibly prescribing another medication?
The doctor said I have some arthritis and possibly a sprained back. He prescribed some pain killer and some anti-inflammatory medication. Is it ok to take codeine, meloxicam, carisoprodol, or other anti-inflamatory medication? I'm still confused about tylenol or aspirin. Which is safer for a hep c person like me? I'm still not on tx. Thanks.
Upper legs (perhaps hips?) extremely sore and almost go out from under me when I try to stand up and walk after sitting in a chair/sofa/bed etc. Seems to be getting worse. Not tied to injury that I can think of or exercise although I've tried to increase walking to see if it improves the condition. It hasn't. Pain still hurts when walking but not as severe as when I first get up. What is this? Used to run marathons, ski, cycle - its been a life changing problem and I'd like to find a cure.
The mobic (meloxicam) is an NSAID like motrin and naproxen. It is very similar in chemical structure to piroxicam(feldene). It is much longer acting than motrin or naproxan though, so it can usually be dosed once a day. And the bancap is just another brand name from a different pharmaceutical co. for vicodin 5mg hydrocodone/500mgtylenol lol I'm pretty sure you're familiar! I have actually been doing really well for this time of year. Hubby and I partied hard last night!
She also said she was about 75% sure about what was wrong with me, just by listening to my symptoms and doing a physical exam, and just needed a blood test to confirm. She called me 1 week later and confirmed most of my blood test came back normal, and I did not have any auto immune diseases or Lyme Disease. My blood work came back positive for Parvovirus B19. She said it is also called " Fifth Disease" and children contract it.
Severe poisoning has multisystem effects that, early on, include the GI system (eg, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea), the CNS (eg, dizziness, seizures, coma), the cardiovascular system (eg, pulmonary edema, arrest), metabolic and respiratory acidosis, and electrolyte abnormalities. Delayed severe toxicity (2-7 d) includes renal, hepatic, and hematologic dysfunction.
50 mg and yea motrin 800 doesn't work for me either and is rough on my stomach but mobic(that's the non generic name for meloxicam) is only 15mg and doesn't bother my stomach.
Last November I had 5, 6, and 7 upper vertebra fused together and feel so much better in that way BUT i can't take anti inflammatory medications for my Osteoarthritis, Tylenol doesn't even help a bit and non of the arthritis over the counter meds help either. My question is... is there a non narcotic pain medication that I can take every day? I am 45 years old and very healthy besides my arthritis. thank you!
Its really not a good idea to use one opiate to get off another. Can you try some motrin and a muscle relaxer there is one called zanaflex that found to work very well, what ever you desided to do its great you are getting off the percs we will be here to help.
Okay, what about Aleve? It's an anti-inflammatory and it's not motrin or tylenol?
Hi Friends, Welcome! Please make yourself at home ... snuggle down by the fire and hang on. It's a bumpy ride.
I had an MRI showing damaged discs, stenosis and arthritis in my back and arthritis in both knees. I started with meloxicam for the arthritis which is a godsend. I also started norco 7.5 as needed 30 a month. I have had several spinal injections which worked but my job would undo the repair. Surgery is not an option right now because it would put me out of work and all 3 doctors said that my work would undo theirs. I'm in pain management which I go every month for review.
What I found that helps me out when my arms are so weak is to have my hubby gently massage them and then use the heating pad. I also started using Biofreeze and that helps some. I have most of my problems in my arms and my legs, and my lower back. My hands are hurting really bad today, especially around both thumbs. I wish I could help you more. Take care.
this would include over-the-counter drugs like Motrin and Advil, or prescription drugs like Arthrotec and Meloxicam. Otherwise, for reducing the pain and inflammation, ice packs/heating pads can be used, and plenty of bed rest is advised. Do you have any other symptoms accompanying this inflammation/pain? It really sounds like it may just be something viral, but it could take awhile to get over it. I hope you feel better soon!
For many months I was taking 30mg mobic (meloxicam), which is a long term NSAID/Cox2 inhibitor, and this did not help/greatly diminish the pain. After that, I was gradually put on one med after another, until I was taking gabapentin, cymbalta and vicodin, as well as plaquenil and methotrexate for lupus related symptoms. I was feeling little pain at this point (though I had cognitive issues), and tried taking acetaminophen instead of vicodin.
Hi Tramadol Warriors! Welcome to Part 53. This thread is full of helpful and kind people who want to help you get off this terrible drug. Please snuggle in and make yourself comfy. I know you can do it!
I went to another dentist 2 weeks later and he said that since she pulled and pulled it had to come out. So he got it out and it left a sinus exposure. I went to the dentist once sometimes 2 times a week to get stitched and packed to try to close the hole. That dentist went on medical leave without warning. In October 2009 I went to a oral surgern and he took tissue from my cheek and put it in the hole to close it and took out a wisdom tooth on my upper right side.
i have mobic well meloxicam which is generic mobic and it helps a little but not enough to relieve the pain enough to let me sleep anymore than without it i have also been told to try some sleep meds but that is something i dont want to mess with because i know ambien and meds like that are addictive to and i dont like being knocked out like those meds do to me ABritt
and DDD cervical and lumbar pain with radiated inflammation. I have recently had Celebrex 200mg andthe newer Meloxicam (Mobic) to trial and compare. Mobic "seemed" to give more relief in quelling some of the mind invading searring burning in arms, legs, back of skull and face .... along with redness and swelling as inflammation grows ....especially once vertical and walking or typing like this. Do you know anything about the long term risks of daily bd 7.5mg Meloxicam ...
This is the place to be if you are trying to recover from Tramadol ... Please make yourself at home!
After calling and calling my PCP to figure out better treatment options, he prescribed 800mg Motrin and referred me to PT. The physical therapist suggested a steroid taper to reduce any inflammation, because all of the exercises he was trying were making my pain much worse. After the steroids, I felt no significant difference, and PT still wasn't successful. The physical therapist referred me to an orthopedist who specializes in nerve problems.
Once in a while I will give up control and eat some ice cream and inevitably I get sick. Taking 2 motrin and 2 tylenol seems to help. Take care .. if I have something else to help with .. I'll update you.
I finally listened to my wife and got my lawyer on this he also helped me get my first surgery i did not know that bone spurs and arthritis in the fusion area could be veiwed as aggravating circumstances or results of the origanal injury. Has anyone heard of this before and any idea of pain relief besides heat, ice, motrin i was on fentenayl patch and vicodin.
But a friend of my mother who happened to be Christian prayed for me took me to her temple and well when I was feeling better ready to get back on all my meds she said no now u need to take a leap of faith and trust that u no longer r sick n u will not need those meds well let me tell u something I was like WHAT NO MEDS NO VICCIDIN....... every time I had pain I would think about my viccidin..... still I thought to myself I was not an addict lol.
pain meds would help after i got the pain so i then started taking motrin before going to sleep which did cause relief and alleviated the symptoms. however after a few weeks i decided that this is not something that i could do every night because NSAIDs can cause multiple issues with your stomach lining and with your kidneys especially when taken at high doses and over an extended period of time. this is not a road i wanted to end up on.

My usual medications are low dose Effexor for mild depression since a death close to me in 2003 and Meloxicam for knee arthritis. I have taken these meds since 2003 with no trouble so I am sure it isn't the meds I currently take. I take supplements too, Vitamind D3 5,000 units cholecalciferol (I was deplete), Magnesium and Omega 3-6-9. So Thursday rolled around and I had not eaten anything (other than coffee, water and diet Dr. Pepper) since Tuesday.
When it happens, it usually happens every few seconds or minutes, then stops for several hours. I am not aware of any injury or unusual stress to that area. X-ray was normal and doctor's examination was clear. Any ideas?
I have regular epidural injections that provide relief for the stiffness and some pain, take vicodin and flexaril, and motrin for pain, spasm relief, and inflammation but dont want to use more than absolutely necessary so I dont tear up my stomach. I try swimming and while it doesnt have the jolt impact of walking, the very movement of those back muscles can trigger an episode.
