Avatar f tn got prescribed medroxyprogesterone 10mg to stop my bleeding of 2months. how long does it take to work? I been taking it for 3days and still heavy bleeding.
Avatar f tn I was bleeding for 3 months straight and my obgyn put me on medroxyprogesterone to make it stop. I started it the day before I was predicted to ovulated. I have been off it over a week and was told when I stopped I should spot and then my period should come normally. I have been having unprotected sex and I am 3 days late on my period. I have no clue what is going on. My questions is has anyone taken this and had this problem?
2051102 tn?1330317633 Medroxyprogesterone is used to treat abnormal menstruation (periods) or irregular vaginal bleeding. Medroxyprogesterone is also used to bring on a normal menstrual cycle in women who menstruated normally in the past but have not menstruated for at least 6 months and who are not pregnant or undergoing menopause (change of life).
Avatar m tn Suggested taking Medroxyprogesterone to stop my period and take it for 3 weeks then stop so that it helps to regulate my cycle. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thankyou.
20811884 tn?1518850098 You may have an ongoing imbalance that needs a longer term solution than a 10 day progesterone pill. My mother, unfortunately, had to take medication permanently to keep herself from bleeding non stop. What a pain! Hope that is not the case for you but since you immediately start bleeding again and heavily, I would in all sincerity go right back to the doctor and say this is unacceptable.
Avatar m tn I was prescribed medroxyprogesterone 10mg for 3 months because I was starting to bleed daily sometimes with clots sometimes just old spotting (brown discharge)and the medicine stopped the bleeding right away, in fact the very next day. I'm worried because I haven't had a regular menstrual cycle in almost 2 months.
Avatar n tn Did they give you a blood HCG before they prescribed the medicine? My experience, I was given medroxyprogesterone to induce my period as well, and I didn't start bleeding until about 2-3 days after finishing the 10 days. However, this is my third time taking it, and I actually started bleeding about 8 days into it this time. So it may differ! It probably wouldn't hurt just to give your doctor a call though, and just tell them it hasn't worked and you feel nauseated.
Avatar f tn ve then decided to stop actively trying to conceive for now, but recently I am starting to think about trying again. Will continuing to take medroxyprogesterone help or hurt my chances of getting pregnant? Is there something else more effective that will regulate my periods without preventing pregnancy? More information is that I was on birth control for about 8 years and have been taking medroxyprogesterone for about a year now. I take 2 pills per day for the first 15 days of every month.
Avatar m tn So my gynecologist put me on provera/ medroxyprogesterone 10 mg which I take every day. She put me on it to stop my periods so I don't lose anymore iron. I'd like to know what other people's experiences r w this medication and should I expect to get a period or not?
Avatar n tn t had period since Sept 28 so my Dr put me on medroxyprogesterone 10 days 10mg, but my period came down on day 4. should i continue to finish medroxyprogesterone so should i take metformin???
Avatar n tn I am currently taking medroxyprogeterone to regulate my period. Can it stop me from becoming pregnant?
Avatar f tn My doc ended up putting me on bc to stop the bleeding I took it for a month after I finished them I finally got a normal period then got pregnant that cycle but I miscarried that one too....
Avatar m tn i didnt have a period for years and i took that same stuff to get it and then stuff to stop it since it wouldnt stop by itself i have been like this for years i have not heard that could cause cancer there are lots of women that are irregular i have had many visits to the doc and have had many clean pap results. I now am 36 with two healthy kids and no period yet again..
Avatar m tn You are a very young man and have normal instincts. You real problem is that you need a girlfriend and don't have one. Wouldn't it be better to find a lover than to take medications?
Avatar f tn I to have bleed for 25+ days, and my doc would give me Medroxyprogesterone for 3 wks to stop the bleeding. Do you have an underline problem? Like PCOS? Have they checked for cysts? Bloodwork to check hormones? Periods for some can take a couple of years in order to get regulated, while some just go right into coming like clockwork. I would see the docs and let them know that you are concern and if they maybe can put you on birthcontrol to start getting it regulated....
706727 tn?1229093232 6 days into taking it I started. Now it is none stop and the cramping is so bad that sometimes it hurts to sit and sometimes it hurts to walk. Has anyone else had these issues and do you have any advise?
Avatar f tn So, I'm 19 years old. I started my period in about June and it has only stop for about 4 to 5 days at a time but keeps returning. It is not a light flow either. I am having to change my tampon once an hour. (sorry TMI) I have gone to the doctor twice about this. The first time she ordered me to get blood work done. It came out and I'm perfectly healthy. She put me on Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo (The pill) to help with it. Even that hasn't stopped it.
Avatar f tn i used it for five days only 10 mg, after 4 days my first AF arrived. then after 20 days AF arrived again then i used provera to stop the bleeding. right now im using it for 16 days my doctor told me that my AF will arrive may 25th. then i will take clomid... by the way my cycle is regular but now im in hormonal imbalance...
777396 tn?1329787551 She is having me do some tests, but says that I more than likely have PCOS. She wants me to take Medroxyprogesterone (Provera) to get my periods regulated. I first wanted to know about side effects. Second I was reading that this particular drug is not recommended as it could cause some sort of pregnancy issue. Wasn't sure about if that was fact or myth. Any input is appreciated.
Avatar f tn I am not sure about the answer to this but I think you should definitely talk to your doctor about the possibilities. Good luck on trying to conceive!
Avatar f tn Can I stop taking provera and start combination OC pills to stop the bleeding ? will it help me..I am having lot of tiredness and fatigue due to bleeding so long ..please advise and help me..thanks much!
Avatar f tn It means that when you tested for ovulation if you got two dark lines you should be having sex to get pregnant. With one dark line that is the control strip line of what you need to see.
Avatar m tn My OB prescribed me Medroxyprogesterone and advised me to take it if I went longer than 3 months without a period. I took my first course of the meds in early April of 2016 and got my period right after my last dose. Had a period in May with no help, missed June and July so I Started my Medroxyprogesterone again in August and started my period later that same month. Missed September, but as of October and without needing the medroxyprogesterone I have been getting my period every month.
Avatar f tn I have PCOS so the chances of me being pregnant right now without the Clomid Metformin and Medroxyprogesterone is slim to none as I haven't had a cycle since July of Last year. Anyway I've posted before about our ventures in TTCing and the ups and downs of everything and although I've been taking metformin to help with the PCOS, I still didn't have a period and it was fine because we weren't ready to try again.
Avatar f tn ( which is about a year since my last period) So my doctor gave me provera (medroxyprogesterone) to take for 10 days to induce a period. I finally got my period a week later and I am on my 6th day now. I called n asked a nurse at my dr office 2 see if i could count spotting as CD 1 & she said it wouldnt matter if i counted it as day 1 or the day a blood red period came as cd1 so I decided to go w/ counting the day a blood red period came as cd1 so in saying that..
Avatar m tn m still on my period! so my doc prescribed this medication to me from what i gathered it is to stop the bleeding. will this make me ovulate after i have finished taking it? I really don't know awhile lot about it, so any suggestions or help will be greatly appreciated.
392087 tn?1252605359 as long as you are ovulating then you will be able to conceive, but i would definately call them and let them know whats going on. that doesnt sound normal to me. i started bleeding heavily yesterday, so now i am just waiting 5 days to take my clomid. did they tell you that you need to use ovulation kits? and also not to bd everyday, but every other day? just a couple things that my dr told me. also, track everything thats going on with a bbt calender?
