777396 tn?1329787551 Hi ladies! I have PCOS as well, never have a period unless prescribed medroxyprogesterone, also don't ovulate. Recently went to a infertility specialist and he is putting me on medroxyprogesterone followed by clomid and femara. That is supposed to jump start the ovaries. Did the vaginal ultrasound that diagnosed me with PCOS, had an MI for my pituitary gland , and a lovey HSG test for the uterus and tubes had a mucous plug but that is about it for now. Keep you updated.
Avatar n tn I haven't had period since Sept 28 so my Dr put me on medroxyprogesterone 10 days 10mg, but my period came down on day 4. should i continue to finish medroxyprogesterone so should i take metformin???
Avatar m tn I now am 36 with two healthy kids and no period yet again..there are birth controls out there that give u a period only 4 times a year so if what your saying is true this med would be band and thousands of women would have cancer.this is not true in most cases best of luck to you!
Avatar m tn My OB prescribed me Medroxyprogesterone and advised me to take it if I went longer than 3 months without a period. I took my first course of the meds in early April of 2016 and got my period right after my last dose. Had a period in May with no help, missed June and July so I Started my Medroxyprogesterone again in August and started my period later that same month. Missed September, but as of October and without needing the medroxyprogesterone I have been getting my period every month.
Avatar n tn During your normal cycle your progesterone raises right before your period and that drop in levels causes the period. The medroxyprogesterone is just like that normal rise and drop. I hope this helps!
Avatar n tn Did they give you a blood HCG before they prescribed the medicine? My experience, I was given medroxyprogesterone to induce my period as well, and I didn't start bleeding until about 2-3 days after finishing the 10 days. However, this is my third time taking it, and I actually started bleeding about 8 days into it this time. So it may differ! It probably wouldn't hurt just to give your doctor a call though, and just tell them it hasn't worked and you feel nauseated.
Avatar f tn Hey i have a problem. I did not have a period for 2 months. I did not have sex either. I just fingered myself and I am not sure whether my fingers were clean that time. I went to the ob gyn and she prescribed me with this tablet medroxyprogesterone acetate she said it will help me menstruate and she will be expecting me to menstruate after a week but I'ts been a week since I've been taking these tablets and still no menstruation. Am i pregnant?
Avatar f tn Me and my fiance have been ttc for 3+ years now. I was prescribed medroxyprogesterone 10mg for 10 days. I started taking this medicine on the first of March and had a regular cycle on the 19. I didn't take the medicine in April due to me being on antibiotics. I didn't have a period in April and haven't had one so far in May. I'm usually regular with my cycles being off a few days. I've never missed a whole month except for my pregnancy with my daughter.
Avatar n tn Did your doctor prescribe you anything to induce a period? I actually have to take Provera (medroxyprogesterone is another name for it) every month to induce a period or I won't get mine. I hope this helps.
Avatar f tn I finished taking a 10 day supply of medroxyprogesterone 9 days ago and still no period. Should I be concerned? Can I still get pregnant this cycle using iui? Or should I wait for one more cycle after this?
2051102 tn?1330317633 I AM A LITTLE SCEPTICLE ABOUT IT BECAUSE THE REASON OF ME TAKING IT IS BECAUSE MY PERIOD NOT ONLY LASTED FOR 13 OR 14 DAYS FOR THE PAST 6 TO 7 MONTHS. BUT IT MADE IT HARD FOR ME TO EVEN TELL IF AND WHEN I WAS OVULATING. THIS PILL IS ACTUALLY SUPPOSE TO REGULATE MY PERIOD TO NORMAL AND GIVE ME A REGULAR CYCLE. THE DOCTOR TOLD ME TO START ON THE FIRST OF MARCH AND TAKE IT FOR 10 DAYS. MY NEXT SET OF MEDICATION IS TO START APRIL 1 FOR 10 DAYS.
1906894 tn?1321873567 With the stuff that made me hurt it took over a month to get my period, and I had those pains the whole time. With the others stuff I had no pains and my period within a couple days. Good luck with everything!

Avatar f tn I am taking the Medroxyprogesterone 150MG/ML birth control shot and I get very long periods, now? I have had my period for 35 days stright, I have frequent migraines not headaches, I'm feeling very weak, am having cold/hot flashes. I am just feeling the most horrible I have ever felt. Is it the birth control or could it be something else? P.S. I have two children, 2 years and three months.
Avatar f tn I have been on 3 different rounds of provera and it didnt work I had all the signs of my period but no period has anyone had this happen if so what did you do
Avatar m tn There are a lot of women that get those wonderful surprise babies at the onset of menopause. That is the best surprise of all, I think any way, lol. Other women might think it a cruel trick :) Did the dr tell you what your FSH level was? That is the best way to tell what your chances are. Progesterone is naturally produced by the left over follicle that the egg was in before it was released. Once the egg was released, the remaining follicle becomes the Corpus Luteum.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed Medroxyprogesterone because I was having irregular periods that either were extremely heavy and long or did not exist at all per month. I was prescribed this medicine after getting off of birth control pills with hopes to attempt to conceive with my husband. We've then decided to stop actively trying to conceive for now, but recently I am starting to think about trying again. Will continuing to take medroxyprogesterone help or hurt my chances of getting pregnant?
Avatar f tn I'm trying to get pregnant but unfortunately I haven't had my period for a year now. I'll be 28 in april. I went to the doctor but they haven't done anything yet to help. Any suggestions on how to jump-start my period so maybe I can ovulate? Natural suggestions are more than welcome. Anything at all, I'm willing to try anything at this point. Reposting this here since mods moved the previous post to the wrong section. It's been over a year of trying with no luck.
Avatar m tn There are no medications specifically for your condition.
Avatar f tn Hi! If you were my patient, I would advise you that Medroxyprogesterone acetate doesn't help you get pregnant. It only helps you have a period if you are not ovulating on your own. If you want to get pregnant, you should probably ask your doctor for a medication such as Clomid which will help you ovulate too. Good luck!

Avatar f tn my doctor put me on Medroxyprogesterone after 6 years without a normal period. this pill induces a period each month. I was told I have PCOS and this should help regulate everything so I can ovulate on my own monthly. If you are unsure of anything, just ask your doctor!
