Suggested taking Medroxyprogesterone to stop my period and take it for 3 weeks then stop so that it helps to regulate my cycle. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thankyou.
I was bleeding for 3 months straight and my obgyn put me on medroxyprogesterone to make it stop. I started it the day before I was predicted to ovulated. I have been off it over a week and was told when I stopped I should spot and then my period should come normally. I have been having unprotected sex and I am 3 days late on my period. I have no clue what is going on. My questions is has anyone taken this and had this problem?
More information is that I was on birth control for about 8 years and have been taking medroxyprogesterone for about a year now. I take 2 pills per day for the first 15 days of every month.
He put me on medroxyprogesterone for 5 days and right after that i got my period. it lasted for 5 days and stopped and then all of a sudden started again and hasent stopped since. I don't know what is going on! I'm affraid of going thru that again! It was the worst experience ever because i didn't know what was supposed to exacxtly happen and my doctor at the time wasn't helping me by telling me what to expect. I wish you luck!
Did they give you a blood HCG before they prescribed the medicine?
My experience, I was given medroxyprogesterone to induce my period as well, and I didn't start bleeding until about 2-3 days after finishing the 10 days. However, this is my third time taking it, and I actually started bleeding about 8 days into it this time. So it may differ!
It probably wouldn't hurt just to give your doctor a call though, and just tell them it hasn't worked and you feel nauseated.

I was prescribed medroxyprogesterone 10mg for 3 months because I was starting to bleed daily sometimes with clots sometimes just old spotting (brown discharge)and the medicine stopped the bleeding right away, in fact the very next day. I'm worried because I haven't had a regular menstrual cycle in almost 2 months.
But there was 1 time that I had a period for 3 mo straight and it was very heavy!!! I had to take Loestrin 3 times/day for a week to stop my period & I havent had one since then. ( which is about a year since my last period) So my doctor gave me provera (medroxyprogesterone) to take for 10 days to induce a period. I finally got my period a week later and I am on my 6th day now.
She took Period regulatory pills on 2nd Week of Feb for 7 days. She started heavy bleeding from 11th February which continued for 7-8 days straight. The bleeding was full of bad cramps and painful. She also passed a clot.

After that 60 days I started spotting for 6 days then had 2 weeks of very heavy bleeding (almost 3 weeks all together). This ended on April 4th & then after only 8 days with no period I got another one with light bleeding for about a week & then very heavy bleeding again ever since. The only break I've had is 6 days when I took the Sprintec birth control but I had a bad reaction with nausea & a crazy feeling in my head along with dizzyness.

He told me that I will have a number of options (birth control, mirena, ablation, or hysterectomy) he told me that I may want to seriously consider a hysterectomy because over time the fibroid will grow and cause discomfort and I already have serious side effects from the heavy bleeding. He took a sample of the uterine lining, told me not to panic and wait for the results to see if it showed polyps.

I'm 45 years old and am severely anemic due to gastric bypass surgery. I found out I also had fibroids in recent years. Which were making my periods horrible. I went thru uterine artery emboluzation abt a year ago and it worked well for abt nine months but now it's slowly outta whack agn. So my gynecologist put me on provera/ medroxyprogesterone 10 mg which I take every day. She put me on it to stop my periods so I don't lose anymore iron.
The hormone progesterone is often given to women suffering from prolonged heavy bleeding. Progesterone can help to normalize the menstrual cycle. This may have been the next step your doctor was going to try.
I would change to a different doctor if I was you . Bleeding for that long can cause you to become anaemic (lack of iron) not to metion the expense of all that sanatory protection you are having to buy!!!
I haven't had period since Sept 28 so my Dr put me on medroxyprogesterone 10 days 10mg, but my period came down on day 4. should i continue to finish medroxyprogesterone so should i take metformin???

I have PCOS so the chances of me being pregnant right now without the Clomid Metformin and Medroxyprogesterone is slim to none as I haven't had a cycle since July of Last year.
Hey i have a problem. I did not have a period for 2 months. I did not have sex either. I just fingered myself and I am not sure whether my fingers were clean that time. I went to the ob gyn and she prescribed me with this tablet medroxyprogesterone acetate she said it will help me menstruate and she will be expecting me to menstruate after a week but I'ts been a week since I've been taking these tablets and still no menstruation. Am i pregnant?
ve gone 6 months without getting it without being pregnant or anything like that. My doctor prescribed me Medroxyprogesterone about a week ago and told me to take it for 5 days until i get my period then start taking birth control once it starts. it's been about 8 days and i still havent gotten my period. she says that it you dont get your period for more than 3 months (without the medicine, naturally) then i have a great risk of uterus cancer.
Me and my fiance have been ttc for 3+ years now. I was prescribed medroxyprogesterone 10mg for 10 days. I started taking this medicine on the first of March and had a regular cycle on the 19. I didn't take the medicine in April due to me being on antibiotics. I didn't have a period in April and haven't had one so far in May. I'm usually regular with my cycles being off a few days. I've never missed a whole month except for my pregnancy with my daughter.
