depo-provera

Avatar f tn re talking about is a birth control shot also called Depo-Provera. This is not a pill that you would take for five days it is a shot you would get in your doctors office. This is a type of birth control, you need to get the shot every three months if you were trying to prevent a pregnancy. There is a delay in returning to fertility that may be between 3 and 18 months depending on the woman. It also stops menstrual cycles in a lot of women.
Avatar f tn Like what is the general time frame after you take you last pill of Provera/Medroxyprogesterone. Also has Metformin and Provera worked for anyone without having the other things as well. Also what do I expect if have to get to the shot phase. I've been on clomid before and it worked for me, but is this something that i should ask for right away or follow the outline that my RE has for me? As always anyhelp is good help, so please help...if you can!
777396 tn?1329787551 She is having me do some tests, but says that I more than likely have PCOS. She wants me to take Medroxyprogesterone (Provera) to get my periods regulated. I first wanted to know about side effects. Second I was reading that this particular drug is not recommended as it could cause some sort of pregnancy issue. Wasn't sure about if that was fact or myth. Any input is appreciated.
Avatar f tn Other forms of medroxyprogesterone, such as Depo-Provera, are used as a contraceptive injection and prescribed in the treatment of endometrial cancer. Some doctors prescribe Provera to treat endometriosis, menopausal symptoms, premenstrual tension, sexual aggressive behavior in men, and sleep apnea (temporary failure to breathe while sleeping). Avatar f tn t come back after I got off my doctors kept telling me at first that your body just takes a while to get back to normal after you have been on the depo....after a year they decided to give me provera (medroxyprogesterone) to induce a cycle. It worked to induce one horrible cycle but then disappeared again.
Avatar n tn Have you been on Provera (medroxyprogesterone) before? You should get your period 3-14 days after your last pill.
Avatar f tn Hi, I received the depo injection on the 14th of November not knowing that I was at least two weeks pregnant. I found out this morning and was shocked, and now rather concerned. What are the risks of being on the depo injection while pregnant? Can it harm my baby?
Avatar n tn I used Provera, too, for about 3 months until I started going through IUI. My uterine lining was dangerously and also way to too thick since i was not shedding my lining. I was not ov at all. After taking the provera, my lining got back to the correct thickness to support a pg. The second IUI worked. For me, the first af after starting provera was extremely heavy and accompanied by severe cramping. but thankfully the cramping only lasted a day.
Avatar f tn m outside the normal range of time after stopping Depo Provera to have gotten my periods back. Could Depo be causing these problems or does it sound like something else could be a problem?
Avatar f tn its taken if your periods are irregular or have stopped completely and your doctor can find no obvious cause, it may be that something has upset your natural hormone levels. Medroxyprogesterone(provera) can help to restore your natural hormone levels, because it mimics the effects of your natural progesterone. causing your body to get your period...
Avatar f tn I just took my first dose 10 mg of Provera to induce a period i skipped 4 months in a row..... I'm scared after reading others experiences with the medication anyone ever take it?
Avatar f tn If you were using Depo-Provera it may take longer for your cycles to return to normal. Keep in mind that Depo-Provera is designed to be a long-lasting form of birth control. Even though it is intended to help you avoid pregnancy for up to three months, it may actually prevent pregnancy longer. Depo-Provera is a synthetic hormone similar to progesterone.
Avatar f tn Recently, Me and My Boyfriend had un-protected sex.. and afterwards i started bleeding. we haven't had sex in a week, what could time be a sign of.. I am on Depo Provera-the birth control shot?
3113005 tn?1341773834 I am little confused by your question. The depo provera shot is given once every three months not for three months at some unspecified interval. If you mean that you received the depo shot 4 months ago, and hence, the last month, you did not get a repeat depo shot, then the answer to your question is, yes, you can get pregnant. I was on the depo shot for about 5 years before stopping to try to conceive. It took me 3 years to conceive my son who is 6 years old.
Avatar f tn Irregular menstrual periods, or no periods at all Headaches Nervousness Depression Dizziness Acne Changes in appetite Weight gain Excessive growth of facial and body hair Hair loss Loss of bone mineral density Most of the side effects are not common. Change in the menstrual cycle is the most common side effect. You may experience irregular bleeding or spotting. After a year of use, about 50% of women will stop getting their periods. Their periods usually return when they discontinue the shots.
Avatar n tn Hello, Irregular bleeding like you describe is a common side effect of Depo Provera. Your girlfriend should have been counseled about this possibility when initiated on the medication. If she has any questions/concerns she should see the provider who is prescribing the medication. Best regards, Dr.
Avatar f tn I've been on depo provera for 15 years and my periods stopped right away. I'm 45 years old and just had a period that lasted 5 days. My question is whether or not depo provera is still working as my birth control choice? Is there a way to know if depo provera is no longer working and if I may get pregnant?
Avatar f tn Quick question... which Depo are you on? There are two kinds, that I'm aware of: Depo Provera or Depo Lupron. I had tried the Provera when I was about 16 for about a year. I had to stop because I could not handle the side effects any longer. I did spot for about 3 months. It usually takes a few months for your system to get used to it. The Lupron stops your period completely and basically puts your body into menopause, which is the one I am currently on.
494555 tn?1228504371 hi every1 im new on here and i really need ur help.
Avatar f tn So I got put on depo provera friday and my period had came on the wednesday night before that friday. Well I had sex that saturday after being on the shot for 24hr and my bf *** inside of me could I be pregnant or no?
Avatar f tn i decided to not go on any other birth control for awhile. What are the side effects of coming off the Depo Provera and is it ok to not be on any birthcontrol at all for awhile??
Avatar f tn I have been on the Depo Provera shot for more than 5 years now. I read that the recommended amount of time that a young woman should be on Depo is only 2 years. I am 20 now and I have been on it since I was 15. I have tried to come off of it once. I bled for about 3 weeks and then got back on it. Currently I have all kinds of pain. Back, kness, neck, arms, and I have migraines. I read about a calcium deficiency when doing research about Depo Provera.
