Medroxyprogesterone and heavy bleeding

Common Questions and Answers about Medroxyprogesterone and heavy bleeding

depo-provera

Avatar f tn I was prescribed Medroxyprogesterone because I was having irregular periods that either were extremely heavy and long or did not exist at all per month. I was prescribed this medicine after getting off of birth control pills with hopes to attempt to conceive with my husband. We've then decided to stop actively trying to conceive for now, but recently I am starting to think about trying again. Will continuing to take medroxyprogesterone help or hurt my chances of getting pregnant?
Avatar m tn Hi, I had my Mirena IUD removed on February 27 and the next day I started to bleed like a regular period. It has been 7 days and I am still bleeding. The problem is I was bleeding and spotting since Feb. 3. My Flow is Now Quite heavy. Has anyone else had this problem? My Dr. Suggested taking Medroxyprogesterone to stop my period and take it for 3 weeks then stop so that it helps to regulate my cycle. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thankyou.
Avatar f tn I was bleeding for 3 months straight and my obgyn put me on medroxyprogesterone to make it stop. I started it the day before I was predicted to ovulated. I have been off it over a week and was told when I stopped I should spot and then my period should come normally. I have been having unprotected sex and I am 3 days late on my period. I have no clue what is going on. My questions is has anyone taken this and had this problem?
Avatar f tn He put me on medroxyprogesterone for 5 days and right after that i got my period. it lasted for 5 days and stopped and then all of a sudden started again and hasent stopped since. I don't know what is going on! I'm affraid of going thru that again! It was the worst experience ever because i didn't know what was supposed to exacxtly happen and my doctor at the time wasn't helping me by telling me what to expect. I wish you luck!
20811884 tn?1518850098 I went to a gynecologist back earlier this month on February 8th, 2018 to get a pap smear done. My menstrual cycle was completely irregular in which I had from January 3rd, 2018 to January 6th, 2018 and then started up again on January 11, 2018 and went through all the way until February 5th, 2018. The gynecologist prescribed me 10 pills of MedroxyProgesterone with a 10 day supply and only said that this would regulate my periods.
Avatar f tn I took all the pills and then I start testing for ovulation. 2 days it was testing I tested positive for ovulation I started bleeding and looks like I'm on my menstrual cycle but I don't know what it means can anybody help me.
Avatar f tn Years ago when I was taking Levothyroxine I also had very, very heavy bleeding and would sometimes bleed the way you described (off and on, weeks at a time, and very heavy). I have no idea if it was connected to the Levothyroxine or not. It didn't happen all the time but there was a period of time it was happening. It could be any number of things that are causing it.
Avatar f tn But there was 1 time that I had a period for 3 mo straight and it was very heavy!!! I had to take Loestrin 3 times/day for a week to stop my period & I havent had one since then. ( which is about a year since my last period) So my doctor gave me provera (medroxyprogesterone) to take for 10 days to induce a period. I finally got my period a week later and I am on my 6th day now.
Avatar n tn Did they give you a blood HCG before they prescribed the medicine? My experience, I was given medroxyprogesterone to induce my period as well, and I didn't start bleeding until about 2-3 days after finishing the 10 days. However, this is my third time taking it, and I actually started bleeding about 8 days into it this time. So it may differ! It probably wouldn't hurt just to give your doctor a call though, and just tell them it hasn't worked and you feel nauseated.
Avatar m tn I was prescribed medroxyprogesterone 10mg for 3 months because I was starting to bleed daily sometimes with clots sometimes just old spotting (brown discharge)and the medicine stopped the bleeding right away, in fact the very next day. I'm worried because I haven't had a regular menstrual cycle in almost 2 months.
392087 tn?1252605359 after taking it it took 8 days for my period to start (wed 13th feb) and then i started loosing egg size clots, i knew that wasnt right so i went to the hospital thursday (Valentines day) and they sent me home saying it was just a heavy period and it should calm down but if it didnt within a few days i should go back!!
Avatar m tn And it never raised, which ended up in me having a misscarriage. It was bad bad horrid cramps with a bad backaque and heavy bleeding, lots of blood came out and I passed a clot also, which was my baby. It was.the worst feeling you could ever have. I had my period the very next month and I bled very heavily and had bad backpain. Has she went to the Dr to get checked?

2051102 tn?1330317633 Medroxyprogesterone is used to treat abnormal menstruation (periods) or irregular vaginal bleeding. Medroxyprogesterone is also used to bring on a normal menstrual cycle in women who menstruated normally in the past but have not menstruated for at least 6 months and who are not pregnant or undergoing menopause (change of life).
Avatar m tn Had a period in May with no help, missed June and July so I Started my Medroxyprogesterone again in August and started my period later that same month. Missed September, but as of October and without needing the medroxyprogesterone I have been getting my period every month. So my first question is can taking just a couple rounds of progesterone help elevate your hormones? My next question is in regards to some symptoms I'm having and if they are related to things regulating out.
Avatar f tn For the past year (perhaps longer but only tested every 3 months this year) my Ferriten level has been at a 4 despite iron supplementation (when able to tolerate) They have done a complete upper/lower GI work up and everything was normal, stated it was probably from heavy menstrual cycles. I had a transvag ultrasound compelted and found a fibroid (3cm) in left side of uterus. I was referred to OB/GYN and went for the appt yesterday.
Avatar f tn Hi, My doctor put me on medroxyprogesterone to give me my period (I hadn't had one for over a year). It took a full week after taking the last pill to get it. I started Clomid on cd 5-9 and started testing using ovulation predictors on cd 10. I'm now on cd 15 and still no LH surge. Could I be getting a false negative? Thanks!
777396 tn?1329787551 t ovulate. Recently went to a infertility specialist and he is putting me on medroxyprogesterone followed by clomid and femara. That is supposed to jump start the ovaries. Did the vaginal ultrasound that diagnosed me with PCOS, had an MI for my pituitary gland , and a lovey HSG test for the uterus and tubes had a mucous plug but that is about it for now. Keep you updated.
Avatar f tn I went to see my gynocologist monday because I had spotting and bleeding since July 28th and ended up in urgent care that previous friday. My gyn Dr. wanted to put me on medroxyprogesterone acetate 10mg but while I was in the office they gave me a vaginal biopsy and was scheduled for a ultrasound so I wanted to get my results before I start my hormone medicine.Doctor called me the next day and said I have a non-cancerous firbroid and polyp from the biopsy results.
Avatar m tn t personally have any experience with progesterone. My mom took it as she had all cycle bleeding and spotting. It curtailed that and as soon as she stopped taking it, she started spotting/bleeding again every day of her cycle. It is my understanding that if you take it daily, you will be stopping the lining of your uterus from thickening which is what sheds during menstruation. So, periods may not happen. I'd speak to your doctor.
Avatar n tn I haven't had period since Sept 28 so my Dr put me on medroxyprogesterone 10 days 10mg, but my period came down on day 4. should i continue to finish medroxyprogesterone so should i take metformin???
Avatar f tn The hormone progesterone is often given to women suffering from prolonged heavy bleeding. Progesterone can help to normalize the menstrual cycle. This may have been the next step your doctor was going to try. I would change to a different doctor if I was you . Bleeding for that long can cause you to become anaemic (lack of iron) not to metion the expense of all that sanatory protection you are having to buy!!!
Avatar f tn I finished taking a 10 day supply of medroxyprogesterone 9 days ago and still no period. Should I be concerned? Can I still get pregnant this cycle using iui? Or should I wait for one more cycle after this?
Avatar f tn Going to give that a try. Staying positive in hopes of a positive. Wish me luck!
Avatar f tn Hello All, It's been Six days since my last medroxyprogesterone (provera) pill and I'm waitinf for AF to show and nothing! So of course her I go with the worrying. I have PCOS so the chances of me being pregnant right now without the Clomid Metformin and Medroxyprogesterone is slim to none as I haven't had a cycle since July of Last year.
Avatar m tn This is used in cases where men feel that they cannot control their sexual impulses. The Medroxyprogesterone acetate will control urges and also may diminish pre-occupation which should make it easier to practice self-control.
