A major development in hospitals was the invention on linoleum, which provided a smooth surface that could be washed and disinfected. Then there was the introduction of hospital whites. Nurses and physicians wore white cotton clothing because it could be decontaminated against tuberculosis. Colored clothing cannot (or at least by normal washing).

Avatar f tn Is it common for a chest ray to be the main source of diagnosis for tuberculosis. In 2006 my husband was treated for tb because of this x ray only. Skin and Sputum test were negative. What is usually the reason for this. He tested negative for hiv, and I know that can be a reason some times. Other than the tuberculosis he had treatment and he fine.

Avatar m tn Tuberculosis, or TB, is an infectious bacterial disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which most commonly affects the lungs. It has an increased predilection for the apical portion of the lungs. It is transmitted from person to person via droplets from the throat and lungs of people with the active respiratory disease. But it can be treated completely. Just ensure to see that he completes his full course of therapy. Regards.

The doctor still advised me to continue medication since I did not have any history of PTB treatment. Why is that so?
