Avatar m tn The hospital diagnosed me with bi polar disorder. Last year I had another incident ( of depression) which lasted about 7 months and then relapsed again. I am presently suffering from anxiety and my meds include Ativan1mg, LuvoxCE150,celexa 30mg.,and seroquel 200mg at night and 50 mg during the day. Does this appear to be the right mix of medications? Is there something better for anxiety?

Avatar m tn I recently developed anxiety and was prescribed Prozac (generic) and Klonopin (generic). The Klonopin has been given until the Prozac starts to work. I have taken this twice in 2 weeks and like eveyone on here do not like being on medication. Does anyone have experience with anxiety in the short term. Is this something that with treatment will subside over a few months and allow me to stop the medication? Also how long have people felt that Prozac takes to really be effective.
735919 tn?1236444549 I've been on Lamictal since October, and it's been a godsend to me. It is slow to titrate up to therapuedic levels - but it's done a world of good. I'm about 85-90% depression free all the time. The difference now is, I get down if something external happens, like regular folks do, everyone gets blue at times.
Avatar f tn Time after time I see these questions depression and the medications. To be frank, it's driving me nuts. Depression is a way for the body to cry out for help. You aren't crazy!! So get that out of your mind now. This could mean that your body is lacking something, perhaps it has too much of something. Depression, anxiety, etc can even be signs of a food intolerance! Sound crazy? Believe it! Our bodies aren't lacking a medication, that is just ridiculous.

Avatar f tn In any given year, about 12 million adults in the United States have depression. Depression cuts across all racial, ethnic and economic divides — no one is immune from the risk of getting depression. Depression typically begins in the late 20s, but it can arise at any age, affecting everyone from young children to older adults. Twice as many women are diagnosed with depression as men, but this may be due in part because women are more likely to seek treatment for depression.
Avatar f tn i switched to wellbutrin because i gained so much weight from effexor! although i am sure that it is not all the drugs fault, the weight gain has created a depression on top of anxiety. i have so many mixed messages of myself. unhappy because i am overweight, and unhappy that i have to take pills for anxiety that is also contributing to being overweight. i don't know which is worse??? i feel absolutely crazy! my husband and kids must be getting tired of all this nonsense!
Avatar n tn I was on Lexapro for depression/anxiety for a year and half without any side effects. I felt like it was losing it's effect, or it may have that I was experiencing more sadness since my mom was diagnosed with cancer. I tried weaning off of it (I had tried a couple of times before that) and ended up having frequent sad thoughts after the weaning process. My doctor gave me Cymbalta. I loved the way it made me feel (ignoring the 10 pounds I gained and the frequent night drenching/insomnia).
Avatar f tn I am very concerned that the abrupt stopping of theese medications may bring on a severe depression. Should theese medications be gradually taken away with reducing dosage over a period of time?
Avatar f tn I also do have xanax but only a .25 dose of that and was given 2 prescriptions one from each doctor and was only given like maybe 20 pills. I have about 5 left because I did not take them regularly and probably have some more downstairs from my mom. which would be better to take? and is a .25 dosage of xanax safe? its a small dosage isn't it?

Avatar m tn They are very similar and have same symptoms. Manic depression is hyperactivity. And depression is inattentive or withdrawal from interests. Start prescribing the adhd meds for depression or inattentive attention disorder, and, mood stabilization meds for maniac disorders or hyperactivity and leave psychotherapy for environmental issues and coping skills for change.
Avatar n tn First of all are you diagnosed with depression? Anti-ocd medications are anti-depressents as well. Find out your exact diagnosis and exactly why the medications are prescribed. Ask your psychiatrist that. If they think you have depression they will tell you why. And you can discuss it with them. As for the medications you discussed I believe the first is Anafranil by brand name right? That is the earliest SSRI anti-depressent which are also used to treat ocd.
Avatar n tn t understand why a pain killer gave me pretty much instant relief from a lot of my depression symptoms while all the different medications I have tried have had extremely limited or no effect on my symptoms. It's just extremely frustrating especially when something that finally gave me relief is not really a viable option.
