my last MRI shows Syinx, CSF blockage in the C5 level which I dont know it would be harmful for me in future or not, also I do not know whether it is the cause for stoping the improvement of my hand and legs movemnet, so I have not gained any sense or motor in my hands and still have some problem in breathing. i want to know if the surgery and extraction of csf would be effective in improvment of my spine?
multiple doctors have come to the conclusion that I have mild spastic quadriplegia. Even though the diagnosis seems right based on my symptoms but it’s just odd that it’s been missed for 26 years.Is it even possible to make that diagnosis at my age. What should I do with this information ?
Paraplegia and quadriplegia can be complete or incomplete. The descriptions speak for themselves. There is also a term hemiplegia which refers to one side of the body having complete or incomplete loss of movement. This is most common in people who have had strokes or other brain damage.
I am hopeless at seeking medical advice as I tend to want to ride it out and hope for the best, however my husband and I are going overseas in two and a half weeks and I really dont want any issues while we are away. When my cord was severed both times I suffered quadriplegia for several months afterwards. Please help me decide what to do.
What are some good medications for bipolar other than topamax (what I am on now) that still make you lose weight? I have been on this medication for over 9 years and I am sick of going on and off of it because of the hair loss and bad side effects that it has, and I also cannot take my birth control pills on this pill or get pregnant in the future.
For example, I get more side effects from taking an over the counter Claritan for allergies than I ever have for SSRIs. Remember, initially when you start medications, especially with the SSRIs, they actually may increase your anxiety for a little while as your body gets used to it. In my opinion this is two fold. While we experience these side effects, they are also magnified because we are already in a heightened state of anxiety.
Also it takes at least 2 weeks for many medications to take full effect, it seems. But, as iladvocate says, if there is no improvement or things seem worse contact the doctor, or just to ease your own concerns I would say contact the doctor.
It knocks out cravings for alcohol and narcotics. It worked good for me with the narcotics. If you would drink on it you would not get sick but you would not get the effects of the alcohol. The down fall to it is if you don't have ins it is $1,000 a month for the shot where I live anyways. The pills are a lot cheaper. I don't know if you would be interested in it but just wanted to pass on the info to you.
Yesterday was a difficult day for her, her episode lasted 3 1/2 hours. Her body was drained. Her pediatrician actually tested her for a for suspicion of a Adrenal Glad tumor. She was hospitalized in December 2012 for 24 hour urine testing. However, everything came out within normal limits. I will mention the ACTH stimulation testing with him, as he is very open to any testing or possible diagnosis. Thank you again!!!

Thanks for the response Grace. I understand that Valtrex is better at reducing transmission and that there is a generic version now.
1) Is the generic version as good as the original?
2) Do you know what the cost per month is for either the original and the generic for someone without insurance?
I believe it is an antihistamnine that is also prescribed for anxiety. It has been around for awhile, although I have never been prescribed it either. With your anxiety, have you ever thought of seeking help through talk therapy if you have access to it? Quite often a little knowledge about this can go a long way in dealing with it in my opinion...keep us posted!
Currently I am on Neurontin 1200 mg a day, Soma 300 mg a day, Midrin prn for the really bad headaches and Lortab at night for pain. I do not like to take meds and honestly these don't take the pain completely away. I haven't had surgery yet, still seeking out opinions. I have been through 2 rounds of PT, but this was before I knew I had Chiari. The first round was hurtful to me as they did mechanical traction and made my symptoms worse.
As long as your doctor is okay with it and prescribes it for you, you should be fine.
Yes you can take them at the same time(if using for nasal congestion) but you should not use decongestants for more than 5-7 days at a time. This is because they can only provide short-term relief for catarrh, and using them for any longer can make your symptoms worse.Corticosteroids work by helping to reduce inflammation and congestion.
So they should be used along with decongestants.

I have a TSH of 9. the doc had me on 75mcg moved me up to 88mcg. i have been on this for a week and a half bt m symptoms have not gotten better and just keep getting worse. how long until i feel results. I feel so bad right now.
Robitussin and throat lozenges. Meaning non menthol ones.
