Avatar m tn The hospital diagnosed me with bi polar disorder. Last year I had another incident ( of depression) which lasted about 7 months and then relapsed again. I am presently suffering from anxiety and my meds include Ativan1mg, LuvoxCE150,celexa 30mg.,and seroquel 200mg at night and 50 mg during the day. Does this appear to be the right mix of medications? Is there something better for anxiety?

735919 tn?1236444549 I've been on Lamictal since October, and it's been a godsend to me. It is slow to titrate up to therapuedic levels - but it's done a world of good. I'm about 85-90% depression free all the time. The difference now is, I get down if something external happens, like regular folks do, everyone gets blue at times.

Avatar f tn i switched to wellbutrin because i gained so much weight from effexor! although i am sure that it is not all the drugs fault, the weight gain has created a depression on top of anxiety. i have so many mixed messages of myself. unhappy because i am overweight, and unhappy that i have to take pills for anxiety that is also contributing to being overweight. i don't know which is worse??? i feel absolutely crazy! my husband and kids must be getting tired of all this nonsense!

I think it has been causing some problems with my asthma and it says don't use albuterol inhaler. Has anyone switched from Elavil(or any tricyclic) to an SNRI? Can you do this immediately? I mean stop one -start taking another the next day.
Avatar f tn i am a 19 year old female and i currently take a few medications but I'm wondering if these could be causing anxiety and depression. i have addisons disease so I have to take steroids everyday, for the past year I have been on loestrin 24 e and also I was on celebrex but have since switched to meloxicam. I've been reading a lot about how birth control can cause depression and anxiety even after being on it for quite some time. Lately I am so anxious and depressed it's ruling my life.
Avatar f tn If you felt better on the medication then you do off, then yes, you do need to start taking it again. Only your doctor and you can determine this. You say you reacted badly when you were due to see a counselor. You need to examine why you acted this way as it may reflect the need for therapy, and medication. Therapy is always good, it helps us realize what is bothering us and teaches us coping skills.
Avatar f tn in fact it is dangerous to stop psychiatric medications in one day. If you wish to stop your medications you need to consult your doctor. I don't understand your second question can you explain what you mean?

Avatar f tn Time after time I see these questions depression and the medications. To be frank, it's driving me nuts. Depression is a way for the body to cry out for help. You aren't crazy!! So get that out of your mind now. This could mean that your body is lacking something, perhaps it has too much of something. Depression, anxiety, etc can even be signs of a food intolerance! Sound crazy? Believe it! Our bodies aren't lacking a medication, that is just ridiculous.
Avatar f tn His neurologist recently added Trileptal to balance his levels because he was having seizures so often. His therapist also prescribed him Celexal and Elavil for depression medication due to bipolar disorder. Now it seems that the 2 anti-depressants have a side effect of seizures, which causes him to seize more than usual. Should the 4 meds be mixed, Keppra, Celexa, Elavil and Trileptal?
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with severe Depression. Are taking medications going to bring back my sex drive? Also..i can't stop crying all day sometimes.
483818 tn?1232684772 I have been on soo many different medications for my bi-polar. I have had doctors tell me I am not bi-polar and put me on antidepressants alone, only for me to become very manic. At this point I am just sick and tired of the medications. I am sick of the doctors and all of the different opinions. The most recent medication I was on was lamotrigine, i was up to 200 mg/day i broke out in tiny itchy bumps everywhere. I stopped taking these pills and the bumps have started to go away.
539694 tn?1434565947 I am fed up with dealing with this curse alone and never being able to get any help from doctors. I want to try medication so badly even if it makes my mania or depression worse if it relieves other things i wouldnt care. Alterations between insomnia and hyposomnia, suicidal levels of depression one day then highs of the greatest joys ive ever had with hallucinations sometimes hours later. It feels like my bipolar is ultradian at times..
Avatar f tn -Mary4868 I suffer from depression, and my doctor did try me on Wellbutrin a while ago. I'm not sure about it being a "wimpy drug", but i do know that i had to stop taking it because of some side effects. i think if i remember right, it made me pretty tired, and also really irritable. i think if i were you, i would try effexor. my mother takes that and she has had really good luck with it.
Avatar f tn Has your doctor ruled out other causes for the sweating? Both these medications carry "sweating" as a side effect. Is it your GP prescribing this or a psychiatrist? Psychiatrists are most knowlegeable when it comes to these types of medications, and what is best for you. I would ask your doctor "why" he feels Bupropion is a better choice and go from there. It may be that the incidents reported of sweating with the Bupropion is lower than the Citolopram.
Avatar f tn I have had depression for 20 years, and know I must stay on medication for the rest of my life. I am 69 so not so bad, for a younger person it must be a worry. Obviously you have to stay on an anti-depressant until you feel you are well enough to stop. I have stopped 3 times, but for me, the depression always comes back. You have to decide what is best for you. It is known that depression does often return. Try stopping, if you feel you want to, and see how you go. Only you can decide.
