Avatar m tn You know, this is LA, does it ever pay for anything???? lol, I believe in Louisiana, which is where I'm at, Medicare only pays a portion and for ONLY SO MANY MONTHS! Most drs out here offer a monthly coupon to help with the cost but if your going to pay cash, GET READY!!! That's what I did and yes, it's up there. If you don't mind me asking, what are you detoxing from to go to the subs?
Avatar f tn I'm in another state but I've never heard of hospitals giving away car seats. They are pricey and a liability so I think the hospital would lose a lot of money. I'm on Medicare and can't even get a breast pump for free so maybe research for donation programs if it's out of your budget. I bought my car seat for $85 on Amazon.com. It's the cheapest I could find that was high ranking in safety.

Avatar f tn As the presidential campaign unfolds, the differences in approaches to Medicare by President Barack Obama and Republican nominee Mitt Romney have taken center stage. But what is getting far less scrutiny: Romney's plans for Medicaid. He would convert the health care program for the poor, disabled and elderly into a block grant to the states and sharply reduce funding over time.
572651 tn?1530999357 Not valid for prescriptions covered or paid for by Medicare (including True-Out-of-Pocket Expenses under Medicare Part D), Medicaid, VA, DOD, Tricare or any other federal or state healthcare programs, such as state pharmaceutical assistance programs. " It appears these offers for assistance are only good for private insurance customers or those folks who pay cash. I sure wish that were different.
Avatar m tn Medicare Advantage Plan (Part C) (like an HMO or PPO) or other Medicare health plan that offers Medicare prescription drug coverage. You get all of your Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) and Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance) coverage, and prescription drug coverage (Part D), through these plans. Medicare Advantage Plans with prescription drug coverage are sometimes called “MA-PDs.” You must have Part A and Part B to join a Medicare Advantage Plan. Hope this helps.

Avatar f tn If you have Medicare and Medicaid, you will usually get your drugs covered by the Medicare prescription drug benefit (Part D) and the Extra Help program. Extra Help is the federal program that pays for most of the costs of Medicare drug coverage if you meet the eligibility requirements. In some limited cases, Medicaid may cover drugs that Medicare does not cover. As long as you have Medicare Part D your drugs will be covered. Call Medicare if you have questions.
Avatar m tn My mother is a nurse who disagrees with me that you need a structured diet and fitness program from a doctor to truly lose weight. She is giving loads of grief because I want to the lose weight but I have not done any exercising till I have seen the specialist concerning it. I told her I wanted to make the appointment but told me to pretty much run 3 miles and eat whatever I want. I am not a nurse but that does not sound correct to me.
Avatar m tn is based on assumptions that Romney would replace the healthcare reform law with block grants to states for Medicaid, institute a premium support program for Medicare to provide beneficiaries with a specified sum of money to buy the plan they choose, and enact new tax incentives to encourage people to purchase insurance on the individual market.
Avatar f tn It is true that you have to be receving Social Security benefits (whether it be disability beneifts or retirement benefits) for two years before Medicare takes effect. This can definitely be a long wait if you're having medical problems and have no other insurance. One suggestion I can give is for him to go to his local Social Services Department and apply for state medical assistance. If he is approved for it, they may be able to help with both doctor visit costs and prescriptions.
