549913 tn?1278499261 What happens if a vegetarian decides to start eating red meat again? Are there any known issues or problems? If anyone knows anything please let me know, thanks.
Avatar f tn I just started my diet and some say its better to not eat meat (except chicken and fish) for the first two to three weeks. I love meat (A lot!) ut if its bad for my health, I guess ill only eat chicken and fish. Any comments ? Any suggestions for me? What worked/works for you when you lost weight?
6231275 tn?1379901818 I just started a vegetarian diet what would be the best diet for vegetarian to lose weight?
Avatar f tn My first pregnancy I was young and had been a full on vegetarian for 5 years. My mom tells me even as a child I was never big on eating meat so cutting it out of my diet came natural. Being pregnant was rough. A lot of the meat substitutes I enjoyed tasted terrible and made me sick. When I asked the doctor about it he said I needed a balanced diet of protein and it was especially important because I'm anemic.I started incorporating more lentils, soy, even eggs and fish to satisfy my mom.
Avatar n tn Sounds like your body is just craving more protien... I have a few vegetarian and veagen friends who had to go back to at least some meat for be pregnancy. Everybody is different but some of us just require more protien when pregnant.
Avatar n tn Very classy for her to call it a vegetarian diet. Actually it is a junk food diet. Who ever heard of a vegetarian diet that omitted fruit and vegetables! What you have is a very lazy sister. And she is going to have one unhealthy child.
Avatar m tn Im 29 years old,Have had Hep C for 20 years,Last Biopsy 2 years ago showed Stage 1 grade 1.Recently I gave up eating all kinds of meat for the last 4 months. Now that I have stopped eating meat altogether will that make things a little less stressful on my liver?Anyway any info would be great thanks.
Avatar f tn Im a vegetarian but since being pregnant ive been really fussy! :| i believe thats why i got anemia during my pregnancy. I find it so hard to find stuff i like! Id never eat meat though!
Avatar n tn I know it is terribly fashionable to be a vegetarian, but it is not reasonable. Most people have too much meat in their diet and not enough fruits and vegetables. Were you remain largely vegetarian, but add a little meat, you would have an extremely healthy diet, certainly better than most Americans. And,I agree, tofu is awful.
Avatar f tn t eat junk food, drink sodas, dairy, and was a vegetarian before pregnancy. Now, i eat meat (no red meat) and eat A TON OF FRUIT!!! haha maybe i really want sugar and that's making up for it. IDK!! it's interesting.
526889 tn?1212540641 For your age you need 1500 calories daily to safely lose weight. I would recommend a Heart Healthy diet which is a moderate fat diet. Moderate fat diet means = use polyunsaturated (omega 3, corn oil, nuts, etc) fats and monounsaturated (olive oil, canola oil, peanut oil, etc) fats, no saturated fats (high fat snack foods, butter, fat spreads) and no trans fats.
Avatar f tn Eat low fat meats (chicken, fish, loin of pork) or non-meat sources (soy products, nuts), low fat vegetarian combinations (rice & beans, pasta & beans, low fat cheese & pasta), low fat and substitute dairy products (1% milk, low fat/fat free yogurts, low fat soy milk/soy yogurt), use plant oils, non trans-fat margarines, and eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. Eat daily high fiber breads and cereals (oatmeal) and limit ‘junk’ foods.
Avatar f tn Not everyone is suited to be a vegetarian, and just eating a vegetarian diet isn't the same as eating a vegetarian diet that suits who you are. Whatever effects this will have on your kids won't be noticed until they're older -- young people are very adaptable. There are certain nutrients, such as B12 and methionine, which are very difficult to get on a vegetarian diet. Now, in India, vegetarians aren't really vegetarians at all, they eat a fair amount of dairy.
Avatar n tn Vitamin B12 supplementation you need to take because it comes from meat sources and it not available through vegetarian diet. Calcium supplementation may be needed if your intake is on the lower side depending on what you eat and your bone density. Soy products are a good source of calcium.
Avatar f tn I recently became a vegetarian and I have been reading up on replacing meat in my diet with other sources. However I have an issue with vitamins. Basically I don't want to take a vitamin with a lot of binders and I have been taking One A Day Womens with some success and no reactions. However I'm trying to eat better in general so I've been looing into real food vitamins. There is a lot out there! The milligrams difference between what I'm used to reading is very different.
Avatar n tn I would like to know what I should use as replacement as meat in protein, also the servings I should be having of all the food groups, I am a 120 lbs 5'4" female.
Avatar f tn m 35 weeks almost 36.. Its been hard to replace the meat in my diet but hopefully you get past it unlike me !
Avatar f tn Vitamin B12 needs to be supplemented because that does come from any of the foods you eat in the vegetarian diet. Look at www.vrg.org for more information on vegetarian eating. Hope this helped you.
Avatar m tn they are when from fat and red meat, eating few white meat or proteins from vegetables is much healthier both for hep b carriers and not you should check your liver damage, if no damage you can do anything.
Avatar f tn I am a former vegetarian of 5 years. When I was a vegetarian I was not being very responsible in regards to getting adequate nutrition which caused my thyroid to become imbalanced. I lost 15 pounds in one month, and I didn’t weigh very much to being with. I felt very, very sick and consequently started eating meat again. I still feel that animal abuse is wrong, but you can get meat from local farmers where you know how the animals are treated.
