Common Questions and Answers about Maxalt with ibuprofen

maxalt

655875 tn?1295695107 I will try and abort the headache with the ice pack before resorting to aspirin or ibuprofen. If the ice pack does not work with in 20-30 minutes, I will take either aspirin or ibuprofen. I will wait 20-40 minutes to see if that will work. If that does not work, I resort to the Maxalt. My question is, are these rebound headaches from the Maxalt? I use the Maxalt no more then once to twice a week.
655875 tn?1295695107 Right now I'm on my 7th migraine in the last 4 weeks. I have a herniated c5-7 that is compressing on the spinal cord. I've been taking Maxalt with some of my migraines, which does help, but insurance only allows so many in a month and they are expensive. I've been also taking percocet in place of the maxalt, but it does not work as well for the headaches. Is there something I can do to try and prevent these migraines? Are there other natural alternatives rather then medication?
Avatar f tn Maxalt really helped my migraines. I had tightness & hoarseness with Imitrex which is a Triptan, but not with Maxalt or another one. I took them for years until 2003 when the migraines stopped.
Avatar m tn m concerned because after talking to my doctor he looked at my charts and noted that I relapse with migraines every three months. These migraines are so severe it keeps me from doing my every day activities. I was wondering what I could take on the side for these because since the amitriptyline isn't working my doctor told me to stay on it for a week and it just still isn't working.
Avatar f tn Triptans are currently the first-line of treatment for migraine headaches as opposed to NSAIDS such as ibuprofen, as ibuprofen can cause rebound migraine headaches. So I usually suggest that if possible, people avoid over-the-counter medications and stick with migraine medications such as triptans.
1230912 tn?1273492770 The script is for 500mg and I looked it up yesterday to see that it was just Aleve in presciption form which is why I am dumbfounded since I was on 800mg of ibuprofen. I do have better luck with presciption drugs compared to OTC because Advil does nothing compared to my precription ibuprofen. I just wish we could have started on the preventatives instead of the anti-inflammatory which we know does nothing. Plus the traMadol which I am already on, duh!
Avatar n tn Hello, I have had an ongoing headache with nausea for about three weeks. Mri and labs checked out ok. Darvocet, tylenol, ibuprofen dont seem to help much. Dr gave me a shot in my neck which helped for two days but also left me with flushing. The same Dr gave me Naproxen and hydracodone but i cannot take the hydracodone as it upsets my stomach and basically does not allow me to function. The front and back of my head hurt as do my neck and jaw.
Avatar m tn Oh, by the way, I should also mention I have chronic migranes that can last for days even with migrane meds such as maxalt (melt on the tongue tabs).
1030950 tn?1261010513 My doctor told me he has no idea what it is and is making an appointment with the Neurologist. It has already been 35 days with these persistent headaches. They have not gone away one day so far. My family and I are at a loss and don’t know what to do anymore.
Avatar m tn She proclaims that she diluted and injected her migraine medicine (Maxalt) because she keeps throwing it up. Her symptoms, however, where those of an opiate overdose....blue hands and face, low respiration, eyes rolling backwards, staggering, tremoring arms upon waking up, disorientation, etc. Does anyone know what the side effects would be of injecting maxalt? I find this impossible to believe that it would knock her out and turn her blue.
Avatar m tn ve had to take Ibuprofen for sinus headache have anything to do with this showing up??? I also was taking Maxalt and/or Imitrex at the time. Hydromorphone sends me into anaphalaxis shock within 5 minutes even at the smallest of dosages.... i'm really concerned as to why this has showed up on my urine test...and how?!?!?!?
1102283 tn?1257817472 Hello all, My first order of business upon getting a migraine was always to take 2 ibuprofen with a full glass of water, and then sit perfectly still, preferably in a dimly lit room. But, I can no longer take NSAID's due to my lithium levels (the interactions are UGLY!). Does anyone have any other medication suggestions? I have never tried anything prescription for my migraines, and I think it would be helpful to hear some first hand stories before I go to the clinic.
1125820 tn?1265284446 I personally use Zomig Nasal Spray and find it works extremely well. I also have found great success with Maxalt-MLTs. Statistically, compared to the other triptans, Imitrex Injection, Zomig Nasal Spray and Maxalt-MLTs have the highest success rates for total pain relief in the shortest amount of time.
1130095 tn?1267369259 Hey i'v got an appointment with my consultant on the 16th and was wondering what's worked for you? I was diagnosed about 6 months ago but have been trying different treatments and meds for the last 5 years...
655875 tn?1295695107 I have no side effects with the Maxalt. When I take the Maxalt, it will stop the migraine an instant about an hour after taking the medicine. The maxalt has been a miracle drug for my headaches and I normally only have to take one in a day. This is one of the very few medicines that my body will tolerate without any problems. The Maxalt must still be working because I'm still very sick to my stomach. I bet I'd still have the migraine if I didn't take the medicine.
Avatar f tn I was recently diagnosed with migraine after driving on a cloudy day without sunglasses for an hour and a half that resulted in a terrific headache, sensitivity to light and spotlights blocking my vision. The following day I could not stand up and felt like I had been given novacaine (sp) from a dentist--the left side of my tongue and upper palate were numb. I was given Benadryl, Reglan and Toradol which made me feel terrible by an ER doctor.
Avatar n tn That sounds terrible. I've had different types of headaches my whole life. I did have true migraines which were a real witch, I tell ya. I did a headache study at a clinic and found I had food sensitivity. Flavor substitutes, artificial sugar and fat free food is a trigger for me. I am careful about that now and do not have the migraines I did. My hormones can trigger a headache though. And I was in a car accident about 22 years ago. The years after that accident were headache prone.
5848391 tn?1380728642 I've had a headache for over two weeks that is excruciating. It is either right behind my eyes, or in the back of my neck. It feels like someone is squeezing my brain. Sometimes it hurts so much that it makes me nauseous. I've tried taking prescription ibuprofen but it doesn't help. Only going to sleep and hoping that it is gone when I wake up helps. Does anyone have any ideas what is causing this? Thanks!
Avatar f tn When I was having frequent migraines and my insurance would only pay for one refill of Maxalt each month, I obtained prescriptions for both Maxalt and Relpax and filled both each month. They worked equally well for me.
7748835 tn?1393868668 I've had a headache every single day for the past 3 weeks and I'm not exaggerating either. I've always problems with headaches. Right after exercising as a child id get terrible headaches. I've been to a neurologist as a child and was told it was not migraines and nothing else was done. We'll recently I've been getting headaches and normally ibuprofen/Tylenol would help but it hasn't even lessened the pain whatsoever anymore.
Avatar f tn I also get migraines. have you paid attention to any of the known migraine "triggers" like red wiine & chocolate, hard cheeses etc. You probably have but I thought I'd mention it. Like the others, I take Maxalt for mine & it always works. Maxalt is from the migraine interrupter family & also includes imetrix & Zomig. Good luck - it sounds very difficult.
Avatar n tn i took 2 maxalt on saturday for a migraine, it didnt help at all, actually made it worse making me vomit for 3 days and today is friday, 6 days later and i still feel like, tired, weak, foggy, not hungry, cant really go to the bathroom even though i feel like i have to. is this gonna go away?
Avatar f tn I'm now 20 weeks pregnant and suffer from migraines and daily tension headaches. I get them daily. I was prescribed Fioricet, but everything I've read scares me. I had a friend who took them almost daily due to hormonal headaches which increased with pregnancy and her baby is healthy.
Avatar f tn Maxalt rocks. I love it and carry it everywhere with me. www.maxalt.com Another new med www.relpax.com (I have some, just not had a headache lately to use them) because I take my magnesium :0-). Here is a good site with migraine info. http://www.achenet.org/ And you need to get your migraine "bible" I got mine off of half.com cheap. This book helped me a lot in understanding my headaches and lots of good info.
