867582 tn?1311627397 Therefore, yesterday when I wore my vest, I did not use the cooling packs for the front of the vest - just those for my back. I wasn't as cool using that arrangement, but today I don't have any chest pain. Anyone else have the experience with coldness of chest from a cooling vest resulting in chest pain?
645800 tn?1466860955 Well I finally got my cooling vest from the VA. Actually it is a cooling vest, wrist wraps, and neck wrap with 2 sets of cooling packs for each of them. These are the frozen water type and had been hoping they would have been the phase change type instead. The first thing I noticed was just how heavy the vest is with all of the packs inserted. In fact once I had all of the packs in I tried to put in on and almost fell over backward from the swinging of the weight.
Avatar f tn Hi, Ess, Yes, I'm getting Steele Vests because that's how badly I want to stay out of the ER this summer - desperately!! I wanted the most powerful things around! MSAA uses Steele. In their ad, Steele says their vests offer "30% more cooling power than any other passive cooling vest." You can buy just the vest which is cheaper than getting the whole package.
645800 tn?1466860955 On Friday I got my new phase change cooling vest and after freezing the packs over night I was curious what effect the vest would have on my body temperature. The packs for the Phase change vests are solid at 58 degrees and will freeze in a refrigerator. Much easier to take than the 32 degrees of the ice packs. Prior to putting on the vest I took my temperature and it was my usual 97.5. After wearing the vest for 2 hours in 75 degree room I check my temperature again. 98.
Avatar f tn I got my vest from Polar Products. I think the vest holds 11 packs. I've had it for 6-9 months. It doesn't get a lot of use, but I have had one pack start to leak. I just bought a bunch of extra packs. I got an 8 pack for $48. http://www.polarproducts.com/polarshop/pc/viewCategories.asp?
Avatar f tn It is very important that you get the correct measurements so that you get the right sized vest. I initially had the large vest, then lost a huge amount of weight and am now a small adult vest. The old vest was riding up under my chin and was very uncomfortable until I got my new vest. Here is the great thing about the Vest, if any parts break or you need a new vest, they replace them without any extra cost. It is under a life time warranty.
645800 tn?1466860955 You can make a cooling vest using a fishing vest with all the pockets and the ice packs you can cut up. I got my fishing vest from ****'s sporting goods. They sell the ice packs at Wallmart. I used a homemade vest before I got my vest from MSAA. In someways my home made vest is better than the MSAA one. It is lighter for one thing.
3360193 tn?1365871889 So its 17 degrees over here in Scotland (62 farenheit), yesterday it was 24 degrees (75 farenheit) just wondering what babes should be wearing when am out and about with him, yesterday he was wearing a vest, lightweight trousers and a tshirt with a light blanket over him when we went for a walk and understanably he was hot, when we came home i stripped him to his nappy and lay him on his playmat and it seemed to settle him.
Avatar f tn m considering getting some of the cooling devices, such as wrist or neck band for hot days. Maybe a cooling vest.... Has anyone had success with these and if so, what brand has been good? It would be nice if wrist or neck band was good. I think I'm more likely to use something like that than a vest, plus less costly..... Thanks for any suggestions...
1096758 tn?1260988347 Current docs seem to take the path that I will die eventually from choking or hypoxia etc. Where should I look for a vest to help with respiratory (I saw someone with a post polio vest) and where do i turn to decide when need to vent. Current pulmo put me on bipap but it was extremely painful to wear and the muscles fatigued in diaphragm way too fast and doc acted like i was non compliant but had no solution i could comply with. I was diagnosed with MS in 2004 at age 42 and I'm now 47.
Avatar f tn I had a dentist appointment today and they took mouth xray which they said would be completly safe with the vest on. I been very busy today and I realized I haven't felt the babies move since then. So I been resting for awhile now hoping to notice movement or a kick but nothing. I'm not really hurting but I'm really concerned? Any advice or I'm I just freaking out over nothing?
645800 tn?1466860955 So far I am very pleased with the Phase Change cooling vest I bought this year. Monday I spent 15 minutes outside with the temperature at 82 and had no ill effects from the heat. Yesterday and today it has gotten up to 85 in my home again no ill effects from the heat. Today I have been timing how long my vest lasts and I'm at 4 hours already with still about 20% of the packs are frozen and my extra set of packs have been frozen in just the fridge for quite a while now.
11119474 tn?1428702170 t think you would get more or equal benefit from a balance vest product, than you would if you did an individualised physiotherapy program instead..... Cheers.......
Avatar m tn About 3 weeks ago I had to wear a balistic vest during a search warrant. I do not normally wear this vest and it was about a 10 hour day. I sweated a lot since I am not used to the vest. After the warrant was completed I was sitting in my office doing paper work and an area of my lower back was drenched with sweat where my back was meeting the chair. I came home and showered. The next day after a pretty grueling workout I went back to work.
Avatar n tn So im due in 3 weeks and wondering what to take for baby. Will she need to be in a vest as well as a onesie with it being summer? Or even just a vest with a blanket? I'm in the UK so the weather isnt the best but the hospital is always very warm with no air conditioning.
1831849 tn?1383228392 Ha! Fondness for baking is something I can get behind. (I figured it was a vest, if that eases your mind!) Thanks for filling me in.
1532707 tn?1312155924 I think I faxed or mailed my MSAA offer for a cooling vest. How long does it take to get one do you think? do they answer you via email, give you a call or you just get it when you get it?
645800 tn?1466860955 But I did want to get the cooling vest. So the nurse calls the NP to have her put in an order for the vest. So now back to Prosthetics for me. So I tell the tech about the neurology had just put in an order for me to get the vest and he has no idea of what to do about the order and has to go talk with someone else before he knows he has to find out what size I need. So he measures my chest and waist and tells me he will send the order over to purchasing now.
Avatar f tn s too hot so he has been wearing either just a very thn sleepsuit with no vest, or just a vest with a very light blanket over him x
Avatar n tn I am thinking that his vest underwear may be chafing his chest , so keep up with the cream and maybe leave of his vest see if it clears , does he play with them as that may also be a cause .
Avatar f tn CP persons have bone growth that goes faster than muscle growth thus the curved foot etc so if you strengthen muscles they grow stronger and curved foot etc will straighten out plus walking becomes easier etc many great things .
Avatar f tn Hi folks, responding to another post reminded me that before I purchase a cooling vest it might be a good idea to find out what types seem to be working well for most of you. I primarily need one for working in my office and getting back and forth short distances to my car and wait for my a/c to get good and cool. Any tips on what I should avoid or look for? Thank you!
