Avatar n tn Surgeons I spoke with said in 10 years there will be no more open heart surgeries. There is also a lot coming out now with stem cells. Stem cells can replace damage done to a heart after a heart attack. It has been known for many years that the heart can repair itself and in some people the heart actually grows new arteries to reroute the plugged ones. This happened to my grandfather and he was in a study at the University of Minnesota.
Avatar f tn spouse living in Germany (just some background) And we bought a ford focus here. Turns out it had a bad valve stem, so we made an appointment with the ford dealership to have it replaced. Brought the car in , waited two hours and paid 85 Euro which is 117 dollars. Fast forward to today, turns out they didn't even touch the valve stem, even though I specifically made the app. to have it replaced. Apparently they simply reset my sensor and sent me on my way. AND!
Avatar f tn On July 3, 2008, my 37 year old sister suffered a brain stem hemorrhage. My family was told that there was nothing that they could do to save her life. On a ventilator, she was moved to ICU where a drain was put in her brain. After a few days she regained consciousness and after a week, the ventilator was removed. She is still on a feeding tube as swallowing is delayed.
Avatar m tn I had/have insufficient blood supply to the anterolateral papillary muscle (area where some chords that attach to the mitral valve are located) and damaged (ischemic) caused moderate to severe mitral valve regurgitation. That heart muscle more frequently receives two blood supplies: left anterior descending (LAD) artery and the left circumflex artery (LCX). It is therefore more frequently resistant to coronary ischemia (insufficiency of oxygen-rich blood).
Avatar n tn If surgery is needed for aortic stem dilation, is it oen chest as it was when my aortic valve was replaced? Does the artificial valve aggravate the issue?
Avatar m tn Trials have also begun with injecting stem cells into the coronary arteries, stem cells specifically recoded to produce blood vessels in the hope the hearts will be revascularised. I know clinics have been claiming this ability for a while, but no improvement has been actually proved. I can't wait to see the results from this trial. The scientists managed to grow new vessels in mice and it's hoped the technique will work just as well in humans.
Avatar n tn There is no reverse unless there is a scam ing tech using stem cell regeneration or artificial sperm collection contraption. I am needing a full bilateral epididymectomy after a bad vasectomy that’s was not done correctly after I contract HPV. Now I have hpv and sperm infection leaking into my blood system from my both open valve vas defrans which I am afraid is causing some sort of myasthenia or something Mylar disorder desease.
Avatar n tn Just to clarify, the Aorta is the largest artery in the body which comes out the left side of the heart. It is the vessel used to supply blood to the whole of the body. The coronary arteries connect directly to this. I'm assuming you mean that the left main artery (coronary) is 60% blocked where it joins the Aorta? If this is the case, then I would question the Angioplasty and want to know how many patients they have treated in that area.
Avatar f tn What is his diagnosis? Does he have cardiomyopathy? Does he have heart valve problems? EF can improve. How does he feel? Tired and weak? Is he extremely short of breath? There are a lot of new treatments for heart disease coming out in the near future. The heart surgeons I have spoke to said that there will be no more open heart surgery in the future. There is a lot that can be done through a cath now. Valves can be opened up. Stents can be put in arteries.
Avatar m tn For another perspective, your left ventricle enlargement may be secondary to the enlargement of the aorta root that causes regurgitation (leaking) of the aorta valve and the left ventricle compensates by enlarging and increasing compliance. What is the size of the aorta root, left ventricle chamber size, heart wall dimensions? Was it an EKG that showed LVH? Was there an echocardiogram? Appropriate treatment and prognosis would depend on the parameters of the variables.
Avatar m tn In 2007 I had open heart surgery for replacement of the arotic valve and stem. At the same time I had acute myocardial infraction with left ventricular dysfunction with an ejection fraction of 45%. An AICD was placed also. What does the ventricular dysfunction with an ejection fraction of 45% mean?
Avatar f tn This late flow across the open mitral valve is seen on doppler echocardiography of the mitral valve as the A wave. The late filling of the LV contributes about 20% to the volume in the left ventricle prior to ventricular systole, and is known as the atrial kick. In addition to routine M-mode measurements of left ventricular function, the mitral inflow velocity was recorded with pulsed Doppler.
Avatar f tn I currently have an artificial heart valve and take Jantoven. I have recently been concerned about a couple of things that have been happening to me over the last ten years or so, which are now happening more frequently. Especially the attacks I have of Eye twitching and rolling back I will have now twice or three times a year. All of the sudden my right eye will roll back so that I cannot see anything but to the side or above depending on the attack, and my eye will twitch.
Avatar f tn have you been to the doctor to make sure it is not an ear nfection? I am prone to them and this is a symptom I get. (plugged feeling, ringing, echo hearing) sometimes I get pain, sometimes I do not. If this follows a cold then I think it is more likely an infection. Infections of the "outer ear" are also possible. I get those now when I swim in lake water.
661468 tn?1252514724 I'm interested in learning anything I can about stem cell therapy for idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy. I've checked out the clinical trials and have found only one now recruiting in the U.S.

Avatar m tn s, 1 ECG, a 24hr holter monitor and although my heart rate rose up to 168bpm that day, without exercise, the doctor just told me I was an anxious person with very slight mitral valve regurgitation that needed to be on anxiety meds, so I got diagnosed with panic disorder and put on klonopin.
4760166 tn?1398357313 2015 - second, more aggressive decompression because of a large cervical syrinx and syringobulbia, which is I guess a mini syrinx / spot on my brain stem from compression. Bovine patch was used and my cerebral tonsils were completely removed. since all my symptoms have returned. Constant headache that is worse with straining / sneezing / laughing / most activity. Intense nausea. Heartbeat in my ears. Numbness in face /arms /hands.
264233 tn?1216342315 just wanted to know if anyone has heard of any adult stem cell research is being done at this time for hcv tx. if so what was or is the outcome and does anyone think it would work?
Avatar n tn She was in a coma state in ICU after that for 2 weeks. The doctor said only her brain stem was working. She moved her mouth, I saw it and 2 co workers of hers that stopped by to visit also saw it. Can a person move their mouth if only the brain stem is working?? I just need to know for sure. Thank you.
973741 tn?1342342773 Hi, this is just a general question on educational resources for kids. STEM or Science Technology Engineering Math is a big buzz word these days and I'm all for it. We've done a program recently which was great-- a Lego Robotics program that came to our school for an after school enrichment program. My boys love it. And they participated in Destination Imagination which is associated with STEM. But when I look at all that is available--- it is semi limited and super expensive.
539156 tn?1281818356 I've had this problem for years as well, but all tests were negative. My sister had a tilt table test (she has MS, too) which revealed an autonomic problem. I can't think of the name of the problem, but it's also related to fainting. She has lesions on the brain stem. Although I have lesions, the brain stem lesions aren't that apparent, but my neuro says I probably have them there based on my symptoms.
